Personally I put the air conditioning on mini like that I hear the air conditioning and also the engines
it looks balanced.
Maybe better in the future

Wonder if some handy modder could just edit the audio file or some config file to turn it down like 50% and everyone would be happy.

If the SMEs say that the ECS is loud like this in the real thing then this is the way I prefer it. The Hornet in DCS is pretty loud too. However, a slider to adjust the volume of ECS in the options for those who want it doesn't take away from anyone else.

Nobody would force you to use the option so yes, everyone would be happy - those who want it can use it and those who dont simply dont use it.

Well, well, well...seems like you're the only one being obnoxiously loud now.

Now I feel guilty for using the "Hear like in helmet" option.

Updated: Reduced ECS sound based on SME input when Hear in Helmet option is enabled

Thank you Razbam. This should serve everyone equitably.

You know I'm on the same page as you I like a realistic experience and after the update I didn't think it was all that bad with how the ECS sounds but I did think it was a little low, however after playing around with the in cockpit volume level you can turn it up so it sounds like it should in the real aircraft I actually listened to a number of videos with how the ECS sounds in the actual aircraft and I'd say it's right on point, so big props to Razbam 👍🏾

unfortunately this very sane argument never scored with the realism crusaders in this forum....😆

Luckily it does with some developers at least. 🙂

Unless they put the microphones into their ears for recording it's useless for telling how a pilot in the helmet hears the sounds.

So 2 months ago SME said loud ECS is correct and realistic, now based on SME's input again ECS sound has been basically removed from helmet. I ❤️ DCS.

to me it sounds absolutely reasonable that the ECS sound was correct with helmet OFF, but would be significantly attenuated with helmet ON.

thanks RAZBAM & SMEs !

I actually got into a big debate about this on discord not too long ago and Notso who is also a SME weighed in on the issue and said he also thought it was a little louder than it should be and that basically shut down anything I could say because I'm not going to push the issue with a guy that has actually flown it I'm just a arm chair pilot lol... I think the difference in opinion with SMEs is like if me and you both flew in a cargo airplane and someone made a cargo airplane sim we would both have a slight difference of opinion of how loud it should be, but like I had said if you turn up the in cockpit volume you can get it back up there I basically have it as loud as it can go without drowning out the ATC audio and I'm not talking about the in game audio I use old red flag recordings for background ATC, I get the impression the audio is set up in a way so if a person really doesn't like the ECS you can barely hear it but if you're one of the few who like a completely authentic experience you can play around with it and turn it back up.. I figure a good judge for how loud to turn it up is it would be just load enough not to completely drown out ATC audio...

There wasn’t really a difference in opinions honestly. Its folks saying things were a certain way when it was not. A bigger reality to what happened was that the ability to independently tune some extra things in code became available.  It was a balance between helmet off and helmet on before, still is, but less so than it was before.  That is all.

Hey man I think you guys did a really good job with it this time around I have no complaints and I'm one of the super realism dudes 😉... for all the hard-core flight simmers like myself if it's a little low for you all you have to do is turn up the in cockpit volume to your personal liking and if you listen to what a actual F-15E sounds like in the cockpit they actually did get it right....

I got a way around it though. Change Aircon source to one engine instead of both.

PRO TIP!  Thank you so much, makes a huge difference.  That was causing me some serious grief.

And set it to minimum, avionics will be cooled same as max, but for pilot inlets get less air, and much quieter.

Another solid tip, thank you!  Using both, it's so much quieter.

Thanks again to both of you.

Yep!

A dead thread, but it's too bad they didn't put the mic in the pilots ear, that is inside his helmet to measure what the actual volume that is being heard "is".  Other wise the perceived volume is completely subjective to opinion (argument).   So completely everyone is correct 100%!

For my part I did not enjoy the louder volume pre-patch, so I put the ECS in manual minimum and ran off only one engine.
