Michel0079 Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) Hi, When just turning the key of the AH64 for start-up i now have "big static noise" coming out of radio's. The motor is not even started (so the radio's should not even work). Then we have good old gunnerseat: after i have been in front seat, my power handle reverses in logics. So when 'powering up' it 'powers down' and vice versa. Very handy ;). After doing a quick switch again between positions it is good again. This makes flying the apache harder than it actually is. I hope it is solved soon or later. Edited October 23, 2023 by Michel0079
JSpidey Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 The static noise is squelch, flip your squelch switches up on the comms panel. 4
Floyd1212 Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 I'll add two issues that we have noticed since the 2.9 release. The RWR repeats over and over and over with the same warnings. Like, incessantly. There is a desync in MC when the CPG uses IAT. Sometime the PLT sees the video feed and the queued LOS reticle showing a completely different location than what the CPG is locked on to. This was fixed at one point, but appears to be a regression. If anyone else can confirm they are experiencing these same issues, I will write it up, or dig up the old bug reports. 1

ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 23, 2023 ED Team Posted October 23, 2023 I have adjusted the title of the thread, as its best to create new threads for issues rather than having them all in one thread. Please search before posting to check if it is already a known issue. As mentioned above the radio static is correct and just needs the radio squelch switches actioning to disable it on each channel thank you Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Squelch off was broken before, so you would only hear the static when someone was transmitting on any other radio. Now it is correct in that you get the noise by just turning it off. It's fixed, but annoying as any real helicopter crew would've had squelch on when they shut down their helicopter. The squelch state in the real aircraft is the same as it was on last shut down. 2
Michel0079 Posted October 23, 2023 Author Posted October 23, 2023 I just tried flipping the "SQL Switch" up, but the noise remains the same.

Floyd1212 Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 Gonna have to add "master volume all the way down" to my startup routine before even turning on the battery

As mentioned above the radio static is correct and just needs the radio squelch switches actioning to disable it on each channel thank you It’s correct in that the static sound is correct, but it’s incorrect because by default the squelch is on (meaning the loud static sound is suppressed). The crew doesn’t have to turn the squelch on during run up. So the default state does in fact need to be corrected. 3

Problem occurs only happens on servers that have srs enabled, before the in game VOIP be a thing. Servers without srs does not present white noise transmission, having voip enabled/disable does not makes white noise, tested squelch and still produces white noise on servers with SRS.
