Nealius Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 It appears that the sunrise/sunset times in Channel map are roughly 2 hours later than they should be. Sunrise/sunset for today, 12NOV23, is 07:12 and 16:15 respectively, however in-game 07:12 is still pitch black, and 16:15 is still late afternoon. Checking in-game sunrise/sunset, they appear to be around 09:00 and 18:00, two hours later than they should be. Normandy 2.0 appears to match real-world data as normal.
Art-J Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 I noticed the same thing when I wanted to recreate nice lighting conditions from Channel P-47 cold start mission in my custom mission on Normandy map. After setting up the same date and hour, what I got was much lower sun position on Normandy (screens below). Just couldn't figure out if Normandy sunset was too early or Channel sunset was too late, but you've put more effort in investigating it. DD_Fenrir Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) Sounds like Channel map is utilising the GMT+2 time zone that was in effect by the British during WW2. https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/the-extreme-daylight-savings-time-of-world-war-ii Edited November 12, 2023 by DD_Fenrir 1

Is that notated in almanacs? I searched for weather records for 12NOV44 out of curisosity and have varied results. One site has 08:16 (1 hour later), and another has 07:12 (same as present day).

Depending on the longitude of each site, this could be expected.

Websites, not physical sites. Both for London. https://www.sunrisesunset.com/calendar.asp?comb_city_info=London%2C+United+Kingdom%3B0%3B51.5%3B0%3B2&time_type=1&ianatz=&back=&btop=&bbot=0&want_twi_civ=1&want_twi_naut=0&want_twi_astro=0&want_info=0&want_mphase=1&want_mrms=1&want_solar_noon=0&want_eqx_sol=0&want_daylen=0&month=11&year=1944 https://www.suntoday.org/sunrise-sunset/1944/november/12.html
DD_Fenrir Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Well then either one or both of those sources are inaccurate!
