ac5 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Well over HALF a YEAR has gone by, and after yet another update 2.9.6.58056 still complete radio silence.... None of the airfields in the Normandy 2.0 map reply. I am beginning to doubt that this will ever be fixed, although depressing and unacceptable! And even more disappointing due to the fact that this was working perfectly in the Channel map.... 71st_AH Rob Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 You probably need to adjust your expectations. This team has historically not replied to any posts except in the lead up to an update which they do every nine months or so. When they do them, they are great. Right now though the entire team may be hard at work on another map, Korea hopefully, for DCS, another sim or maybe both if we are lucky.
Slippa Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 They pretty much rendered the Channel map redundant when Normandy 2 came. I still like using the Channel map but a lot of people won’t bother with it and would likely use N2 instead. Unless a kindly somebody fancies having a crack at it we don’t have the tools to fix it ourselves and rely on Ugra or ED to get in and have a look at it. Rob’s right unfortunately. Historically bug reports and the like for the vintage side of things seem to go unnoticed or left for a long time while updates spill all kinds of new and shiny things. The last two updates have caused carnage for a lot of people though, making it unusable at times altogether. I don’t hold out much hope for a quick fix but we just never know what the next update brings. Hopefully something better than the last two? So, again with bells on, @NineLine, @BIGNEWY, can you break radio silence and let us know what’s what here please? 2
ac5 Posted July 26, 2024 Author Posted July 26, 2024 Hi 71st_AH Rob, "adjust my expectations" well, as I wrote, it's been Well over HALF a YEAR, and not only this has not been fixed, but nobody, either from ED or UGRA has even bothered to reply / comment on this thread... Absolute RADIO SILENCE..... And this in spite of my efforts, and the efforts of like Slippa and razo+r.... And even considering the fact that this was working perfectly in the Channel map, I won't go back to it, Normandy 2.0 is much nicer and comprehensive... 352ndDeacon Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 One has to wonder how many bugs the new release will have that are never dealt with.
ac5 Posted July 27, 2024 Author Posted July 27, 2024 (edited) Hi 71st_AH Rob, If I don't "complain" as you put it, then maybe this BUG never gets even noticed... ac5 Posted August 11, 2024 Author Posted August 11, 2024 Update today DCS 2.9.7.58923. In a RANDOM fashion, some Airfields do reply now! I have got an answer from Biggin hill, and Lympne, all the other Airfields remain silent, no matter if marked as blue or neutral. Obviously they are doing something, but still not good enough...... 1 Mainboard: ASUS Maximus X Hero Intel Z 370 CPU: Intel Core i7-8086K @ 4.0 GHz Memory: 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4-3000 Graphics Card: ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB Monitor ASUS PA 329 32" @ 4K 1 SSD Samsung 860 PRO 256 GB 1 SSD Samsung 860 PRO 4 TB Windows 10 - 64 V. 2004 CH Pro combatstick, throttle and pedals
Brigg Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Tbh as it's a ww2 map I hope they are spending time ironing out ww2 kinks rather than modern atc. That being said some acknowledgement would be nice but Rob is right in saying that this is just how Urga roll so the best thing is to just wait 1
ac5 Posted August 11, 2024 Author Posted August 11, 2024 Well, not very professional how "Urga rolls", don't you think? 1 Mainboard: ASUS Maximus X Hero Intel Z 370 CPU: Intel Core i7-8086K @ 4.0 GHz Memory: 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4-3000 Graphics Card: ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB Monitor ASUS PA 329 32" @ 4K 1 SSD Samsung 860 PRO 256 GB 1 SSD Samsung 860 PRO 4 TB Windows 10 - 64 V. 2004 CH Pro combatstick, throttle and pedals
Brigg Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Welcome to modern society, they aren't the first and they sure as hell won't be the last company to be as you say 'professional' in how they do things. 1

ac5 Posted October 1, 2024 Author Posted October 1, 2024 Almost 9 months have gone by, and after yet another update yesterday, 30 September 2024, "needless to say" still complete radio silence.... _Hoss Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 (edited) My Airfield comms are AFU, have been for a while. In game radios are non-functional, too.......... BETA = SNAFU. and that's the reality of it, it's immutible. I have come to the conclusion that none of this is ED, DCS, or the developers fault, they are blameless. They have no legal obligation to meet our perceived expectations of the state of the product if it's released to Beta. We knew that going in, so faunching and bellering about it, pointless. Public releases are a different story. And I can't wait until it's the only version. So they stop breaking my plane, that has nothing to do with anything in a new release or update. Yes, I understand we can use the public release version and play campaigns, and single player missions, but even the crickets packed up and left the MP room in the PRV. After it's all said and done, we have no legitimate right to complain about the form, fit and function of products and modules. This being their OPEN BETA version of the game, releases them of any obligation to keep all the modules, in a full fidelity condition. As long as the module remains in the beta, its in an "As Is" condition. Mr. Murphy will make his presence known with an unwanted visit. This leaves us with nary a leg to stand on, which makes it hard to mount a soap box. I would be interested to see if all of this is broken in the public version. I need a bigger SSD to get both versions plus other FS on it. If someone does, have both, could you test it. And tell us if the PRV is as FUBAR as the OBV. When I stand back and think about it, I can't help but laugh at myself for my new callsign..... Lem, short for Lemming. We are a group of knuckleheads who paid to be part of a beta test. It's a pretty darn smart business model if you look at it. So, as long as we keep buying unfinished products, they will keep giving you access to them, at full price. Whats the old saying? "A fool and his money are soon seperated" Yeah, that duder looking back you in the mirror when you're brushing your teeth.... I refuse to acknowledge him.... he's Nuckin Futs. Prayers going out for any of you on the East coast dealing with the damage, and the politics. JMTCW Edited October 2, 2024 by _Hoss 2 Sempre Fortis

MAESTR0 Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Hi My ATC is working, so the controller should contact you in the next update. Write at which airfields it still doesn't work for you. I selectively loaded airfields and there was communication with the control tower. P.S.: Keep in mind that if you selected a "hot start" in the mission editor, then permission to taxi has already been given. To continue the dialogue with the controller, select "abort takeoff" and start again - then it will work. 1
ac5 Posted October 5, 2024 Author Posted October 5, 2024 Hi Maestro, Well... Thanks, but... First of all, in NO OTHER map, (Nevada, Caucasus, Persian Gulf, Channel) even always with hot start do I have select "abort takeoff" and start again to continue the dialogue with the controller... No matter if using a WWII or modern plane. Secondly, as you can see in the video, some airfields of the Normandy 2.0 map DO reply, but only after contacting them TWICE. Again, in NO OTHER map, (Nevada, Caucasus, Persian Gulf, Channel) this happens. Again, No matter if using a WWII or modern plane. But the worse part is that Manston, even trying to contact it twice, three times, or more does NOT respond.... Please advise. 1 Mainboard: ASUS Maximus X Hero Intel Z 370 CPU: Intel Core i7-8086K @ 4.0 GHz Memory: 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4-3000 Graphics Card: ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB Monitor ASUS PA 329 32" @ 4K 1 SSD Samsung 860 PRO 256 GB 1 SSD Samsung 860 PRO 4 TB Windows 10 - 64 V. 2004 CH Pro combatstick, throttle and pedals

Minsky Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Just tried this in a clean mission with every possible Hornet state: airborne, runway start, hot start, and cold start. Each state with and without radio presets, with and without easy comms. Never got any response from Manston. The "abort takeoff" trick obviously doesn't work either, since the ATC doesn't answer. Randomly called other airfields (happened to be Detling and Lympne) and got normal response. 2 Dima | My DCS uploads
Minsky Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 @ac5 Something has been lost in translation perhaps?
