mytai01 Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 I've been flying BFM recently, and it seems like the AI is practically unbeatable on any setting (rookie to ace). NAM Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 I done BFM quite often in F14.. It has been a while since flying other aircraft. In Tomcat F14b.. I have not problem against Ace Mig21/Mig29/F18/F16, with label off and no droping landing flap. Although due to lack of gunnery skill.. most of my wins Ai crashed running out of fuel.
TheFreshPrince Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 (edited) Since one of the last updates, the AI seems to start infinite loops again where it's climbing higher and higher and you have no chance to follow (because it's flight model is much more superior), but it's also not attacking. It is a shame because after 2.7 or 2.8 the AI was really fun to play against and behaved more like a real pilot, as was also demonstrated in a GS video. But somehow these changes were disregarded completely. Edited December 20, 2023 by TheFreshPrince 2
Gierasimov Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 What aircraft were you you fighting against @mytai01? I just tried in Hornet against Hornet, Fulcrum A, Flanker D, Mirage F-1. ALL SET TO ACE (I remember ED mentioning new BFM logic on Ace only) Guns only each time. NO other assets (AWACS /EWR) and Fulcrum disengaged when I went behind the hill, but re-committed once I painted him with the radar, had to set F1 to keep its gun pods on but other then that it is 4:0 for me. I fly BFM often and since the DCS 2.8.0.32066 Open Beta (28.10.2022) I have never witnessed infinite loops that @TheFreshPrince mentioned. Maybe this is with relation to specific aircraft? 1 Intel i7-13700KF :: ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI D4 :: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB :: MSI RTX 4080 Gaming X Trio :: VKB Gunfighter MK.III MCG Ultimate :: VPC MongoosT-50 CM3 :: non-VR :: single player :: open beta
TheFreshPrince Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 (edited) Try against F16, F14 with some altitude over flat terrain. BFM at low altitude in the hills makes them fly evasively so they can't gain the altitude. I can provide tracks if necessary, but so far I don't see any interest from ED in this topic (work in progress I guess). See also Edited December 28, 2023 by TheFreshPrince
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted December 28, 2023 ED Team Posted December 28, 2023 General Flight Model (GFM) continues to be tweaked however if you are seeing an issue its best to attach a short as possible track replay example showing the problem thank you 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? mytai01 Posted December 29, 2023 Author Posted December 29, 2023 I was flying the F-16C vs AI MiG-21. I tried setting the AI pilot from Rookie to Ace and I didn't see any difference. You summed up what I was going to type: It's not so much that the enemy AI aircraft do loops - they simply fly circles higher and higher and higher without loosing any energy. And, yes, they hardly ever engage even when they are in a perfect firing position. That and the infinite chaff and flares, which they continually dispense, has made flying against AI a waste of time for me. And since I don't really enjoy online play, I have pretty much stayed away from DCS for almost a year now. Every now and then, I get the itch, but as soon as I play one round against the AI, I lose interest. I hope ED can bring back whatever enemy AI model they were using back in 2.7, because that was actually a lot of fun to fly against.
