Flaps Full are a landing checklist item. Use the replay function to load your track file, wait until you're at 1200ft 250kts, press Esc - Take control, disengage AP (paddle), set flaps to Full and then press CPL.

Yes, I mentioned that flaps must be deflected more than 37 degrees, which can be achieved only in FULL

I have feedback from this track:

• Commenced far too early, and should commence at 20 nm, instead started way too early at 28 nm.
• Failed to fly commanded ROD from 6000 feet.
• Did not make correct Platform call before switch approach when passing through 5000 feet.
• Lowered gear way too early. Should only lower flaps at 8 nm.
• Half flaps way too early, when descending to 1200 feet. Should only lower flays at 8 nm.
• Did not set full flaps at 6 nm.
• Did not fly aircraft to on-speed at 6 nm.

Landing the F/A-18C, particularly in Case III, is certainly a complex task. We highly recommend carefully reviewing Case III landing videos, tutorials, and manual and follow the steps carefully. A good place to start:

In the second video, Wags received a CUT pass grade after landing, is this intended behaviour for ACLS or from the LSO?

It sometimes works and sometimes does not (some people will get the entire ACLS comms sequence and others might not). I still can't count on the ATC for holding altitudes. It sometimes assigns two pilots the same holding altitude for a reason that is unclear to me.

As you should, you should disengage ACLS shortly before landing as the aircraft is no longer in the beam of the ACLS.

Are you sure about this, or are you referring to a DCS limitation not present in the real world? This is my understanding of ACLS Mode 1 ops.

Mode 1 Approach -

• At 0.5 mile controller advises the pilot to call the ball. Report - SIDE NUMBER, HORNET, COUPLED, BALL or CLARA, FUEL STATE.
• At approximately 12.5 seconds before touchdown, the uplinked 10 SEC is displayed on the DDI and HUD.
• After touchdown, ACL and automatic throttles are disengaged.

Thanks to all of you for your help, I can now land in ACLS mode almost easily.  And thanks also to Matt Wags for the work he does, giving us moments of fun and satisfaction.

@Wags @BIGNEWY, it might be helpful to have a training mission specifically for ACLS super carrier landings. Maybe not include the full marshal hold, but from just before commencing down the shoot.
