..only if he's over there under another name.

i see you're registered over there but banned....

... I see why now. You do the same sort of shit you're doing here over at simhq, he takes the piss out of you and makes you look like a fool, you get all hero like and threaten to punch his lights out because you can't take the heat?

any forum that bans your type of person gets props from me.

Bug11, what's so wise in starting that flame wars again? Why did you make this personal attack? Do you think that person, who make such attacks, is proper member of this forum?

...I will not discuss this further w/you on public forums.

and this is smart decision indeed.

"There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: recklessness, which leads to destruction; cowardice, which leads to capture; a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble." Actually I told Frugal to remove my account if he continued to allow personal attacks against Stormin' and Wags. I got a shitty response from Frugal so I told him where to go. Then he steps up w/the "ban". Whatever. At least on the other forums I frequent the F4 fanbois aren't allowed to run rampant. And if you'd like to discuss this further either PM me or contact me via ICQ (158060740).

Edit: In fact, check your PM's. I will not discuss this further w/you on public forums.

how about 'shithotjetpilot' - that extra account you made over there to slag bard after you 'asked' to have your account closed - but got caught red handed by the mods - and banned again.

then at simhq you get asked by the mods to stop with your slagging.

then you come here and do the same?

i'm not the only person who has noticed i am sure, and i bet i am not the only person tired of they way you relate to other people. Sometimes you have something worthwhile to say - just learn to disagree with other people the way adults do - with good manners.

edit: I just went and read through the lomac forums over at frugalsworld (searched for your posts) and i didn't see ANY personal attacks other than ones made by you. Maybe your definition of what is a 'personal attack' is different to the moderators, but after reading those threads i'd have to agree with the moderators there.

maybe if enough people point out to ruggbutt how he is behaving it'll lead to some introspection and he might stop being how he is and will play nice with the other kids in the sandpit.

I thought I told you that we'd not discuss this further on public forums. This thread is about copy protection.

Why don't you guys take your pissing contest somewhere else? I'm confident that most of us don't really give a rat's ass what happened on Frugal's or any other website. This is a thread to discuss the V1.1 copy protection situation not your arguments.

Bugboy, you seem intent on making this an issue and Rugg you should know better than to argue with someone who just wants to argue. Please, both of you should take this private.

No need to jump my ass Carl, I tried as politely as possible to get him to stop. I've contacted the mods.

Thanks for nothing.

Stop acting wounded. I didn't "jump" anyone's ass. I even said "please". Stop being defensive when it isn't required. Deal with this troll in private. I realize you have attempted this very thing so if I were you I'd just ignore him. He wants you to respond in public.

Then I seem to have misunderstood your meaning. My bad.

One question to Star Force, for lockon v1.02 we have a program which loads in custom files such as skins, soundpacks and campaigns etc called loman. Would it be possible for starforce to accept these modifications and loman to operate?

cheers

Bug11,

Quit fishing for a fight.

Let me make this perfectly clear to everyone;

This forum is for Lock-on related matters, and we only have one section available for discussions in English. We will not tolerate it being hi-jacked by a small group of people for their personal biggering.

Hi Subs,

The StarForce protection of Lock-on 1.1 does not interfere with the use of Loman :) .

JJ, it's my understanding that to activate FC after 5 installs that we have to contact ED. Is this as simple as sending an email w/the code generated by Starforce according to our personal hardware? I'm not gonna lose sleep over the 5 installs thing as long as it's fairly painless to install a sixth time.

Sorry ruggbutt, but I dont know the answer to that question.

I could imagine a simple solution as the one you describe, but given the sensitive nature of this issue, I want to make certain that I am on "solid ground" before saying anything ;) .

Once again, not after 5 installs, but after 5 serious hardware updates.

Ok, 5 updates then. Please answer the question w/that in mind.

Don't know the details about that program, but basically the protection is completely transparent for the protected application, i.e. it works exactly the same way as unprotected one. The only difference is hardware/CD check on startup.

No idea, it's up to ED policy. On our side it takes less then 30 seconds to generate a new serial number(s).

It should be okay - I don't think that the textures database or the campaigns or any of the config files are checksummed for protection nor encrypted. THat would be silly.

Umm...I don't know if I can say this here, but Silent Hunter 3 a game shipped with StarForce has already beed craked. I wonder what the SF guy has to say about it. And now I really wonder if it's worth the money Ubi spent? Wait, no it can't be worth the money.

this is what some of those naysayers have been saying all along. That it's pointless and IT WILL BE CRACKED. Now I'm beginning to think this program is pointless for legit users like us and even for ED to be wasting money on it.

Nothing personal to the StarForce rep, but I would love to hear his take on this one.

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

Copy protection is one area of the gaming industry that I will never understand. The theories that I have heard are that they have to do something, of course I always ask "Why???". Most if not all games are cracked within days of release. If they are trying to stop the casual copier, heavy duty and highly invasive protection schemes like SF don't work, they are cracked and even the casual person has access to them within days.

I wonder, is gaming copy protection the 'snake oil' of our generation. It promises alot but delivers little if anything.

1. Don't see how this is related to the thread.

2. The protection system is quite complex. It is possible to create a real strong protection, but in this case the time is required for source code modification. Not every publisher has such time for each title. There are examples of the games that were never cracked both on Russian and world-wide market.

No wonder why I haven't seen any Dlink produced games. Try considering the possibility that the publisher may know the industry better.

Furthermore I will only answer exact technical questions about protection system.

1. Of course it's related and I shouldn't have to tell you why.

2. Can you provide me with the names of said titles? Give me the names so I may have an idea if those games are worth cracking.
