Thoughts on the new flight model changes?

I am guessing it's there as a last ditch effort not to impact mother Earth, as a damaged airplane is better then a crashed one.

In combat, you might get shot at multiple times, so I don't see this used as combat maneuver. Unlike DCS, real fighter jets are not expendable.

Well I guess an imminent guns solution would fall under that category, but this happens once in never.

There's usually a specific guns defense maneuver for situations like that, e.g. in the Tomcat it's to change your roll attitude to give the bandit a slimmer target to hit. If you're about to get gunned, you're most likely out of all the energy you need to exceed airframe G limits anyway.
