Here are my operational steps (Not related to the order of operations):

  • A/G Mode
  • Specify a steelpoint A
  • Set VRP, input some the bearing & range & elevation for the steerpoint A, that active VRP
  • Select MK-84 / MK-82 / MK-82SE ... (any) bomb
  • Set release mode from CCIP to CCRP

Now, game is down.

Following this step, I can stably trigger a game crash. I think it should be an unresolved game bug.

Confirmed with two different clients on different missions/maps,

Reproduction
:

  1. Equip F-16 with at least one bomb. I used an otherwise clean Loadout with 2x GBU-12).
  2. Have valid steerpoint selected. (optional?)
  3. Select A-G Master Mode
  4. Switch to CCRP
  5. On the ICP GO LIST -> 9 (VRP)
  6. Highlight TGT-TO-VRP
  7. Game crashes on pressing M-SEL (0)

Edit: CTD is the same for st and mt client

Because the result was a game crash and abnormal exit, I was unable to provide .trk, the last log file is attached.

I will provide as many details as possible:

  • In any singleplayer mission.
  • In any map.
  • Mount any bomb, GB, LGB, CBU are all okay. As long as it can enter CCRP mode.
  • I only setup a community mod of A-4E (Under the Saved Game folder). All remaining modules come from official or authorized third-party development teams.
    • I also executed the dcs_updater cleanup  and removed A-4E. Follow the above steps again, and the problem will still occur.
    • I installed two utilities that everyone is familiar with -- DCS-SRS, Tacview. I don't think they have affected this issue.

indeed you are correct. you can type in all the data, as soon as you switch the release mode to CCRP (or even PRE for MAVs) the game crashes. and no, Track cant be produced as of course the game crashes before a track can be saved...

i tried to get a track from a MP server (as they save automatically) yet so far i can never open them (most likely corrupted due to the crash).
@BIGNEWY could you please take a look? the "missing trackfile" tag like on this post (merge, same thing) wont help solve the problem.

To provide some extra context:

When In A-G Mode, Select CCRP with the Mk-82 as weapon (works with others, but this how I reproduce this every time 100% of the time),
if you have a valid steerpoint selected (!), the second you activate TGT-TO-VRP (press 0 M-SEL while TGT-TO-VRP is selected), the game will hang and close.
There is NO "DCS has crashed"-Popup, there are NO Errors collected in the dcs.log.
I did a slow repair just before re-trying, the CTD still happened.

However, the DxDiag shows this Error:

Same here, can confirm order does not matter. If you set VRP to MSEL, THEN change bombs to CCRP the crash happens immediately upon clicking CCRP. Also was not online, was just a single player mission I made up in the ME.

+1, I've had the same experience as those before me, I didn't get a track file or anything that I can upload.

-Col. Russ Everts opinion on surface-to-air missiles: "It makes you feel a little better if it's coming for one of your buddies. However, if it's coming for you, it doesn't make you feel too good, but it does rearrange your priorities."

Easy to reproduce and no track needed.  I know you cannot IRL turn both VIP and VRP on for a waypoint however shouldnt CTD.

1. Create a waypoint

2. Create a VIP point and then Msel On

3. Create a VRP for same waypoint.  As soon as you Msel On it Crashes to desktop

Saw something similar reported back the beginning of Feb, this still is happening after the update.  Also Happened Turning VIP off and VRP on,  As soon as M-SEL is pressed to enable VRP it CTD no crash report no closing etc.
