Dear DCS,

Loving the Apache, great job! I would like however, to be able to lower the sun visor on the helmet. This is especially useful when wanting to use the TADS through the HDU during the day. The helmet visor then allows for a darker background, making it easier to see the TADS image on the HDU.

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Jeroen

Can we get a  dark tinted visor for the pilot and CPG? I've seen multiple IRL pilots say there is advantages to using the visor and the IHADS FLIR during the daytime. Right now the FLIR is pretty washed out in during the daytime and I feel this would be a nice addition to the module.

I would also very much welcome that.

It should also be possible in real life.

At least the CPG should have the possibility to fold down a visor with smoked glass to see the TADS better during the day.

Yep, would like this as well! Using PNVS at daytime would be possible.

When you're at it.

The CP/ Gunner has a second Lip Light Battery Pack - Nylon Pouch. This is wrong. The ANVIS Pattery Pack of the Switches is not Silver but Black.

I asked a real Apache Pilot and none fly with an Anvis 9 Night Vision device during the Day. The Counterweight is also not attached to the Helmet during the Day.

Just watched the Mig-29 navigation vid. The module will be equipped with a working pilot‘s visor.

I‘d love to see this in the Apache as well. That would be amazing!

Would be nice to see this eventually be added to the ED modules. And it's been request many times. We know it shouldn't be that hard as a previous dev team was able to add it within a patch window.

Yeah. With a high value FOV, any hour near noon is quite harsh on the eyes inside the Apache to the point that any mission that features a midday or close mission start time becomes unattractive.

Gamma on my end is at 2.0 (-0.2 from default). Black levels are low on my monitor for taste and there is no washed out colors look on my image (calibrated monitor for work). Still is pretty harsh on the eyes.

Yes, ED hinted at the functionality coming to their other modules too, so hopefully we will get working visors for all ED modules on MiG-29's launch day!

Yeah for ED modules I put gamma at 1.6 (during daytime missions) to put the colours and brightness of the outside world while looking outside in the cockpit, at the same level than external view is when gamma is at 2.2. DCS lighting is weird... With working visors such shenanigans will no longer be needed.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it out. 🙏

Most annoying thing when you check map and go back to cockpit everything is bright as hell☀️ aka real life.... If I check map in real life I don't get half blind.

Yes that overexposure is a bug that's apparently hard to fix. It's been around for a while now... When it happens I switch to F2 external view and then back to cockpit, and that seems to limit the time of the overexposure...
