Looking for a mentor

Hey guys.

Does anyone know of any mentor for hire for 1 on 1 training sessions?

Preferably someone with real world F-18 experience.

My hope is that this mentor would give me 1 hour training sessions about twice per week, with given homework in between to prepare for next lesson etc.

I'm a real world Cessna Citation pilot and I just love studying systems of aircraft.

For this DCS F-18, I'd just really want to learn it in the most realistic way possible, starting with systems, cold and dark starts, checklists, emergency procedures.

I don't expect to even look at weapons systems for 6 months. First thing is to learn the aircraft as a flying machine rather than a weapon.

It's not like I'm incapable of studying chuck's guides or the endless excellent video tutorials on youtube... It's just that almost with everything in life, it's nice to have a teacher, and keep you accountable...

Appreciate any referrals.

I understand it would be expensive, but hey - I don't work hard for nothing!

Noam

I would start with Hornet NATOPS. Document A1-F18AC-NFM-000, you'll find a lot of reading there.

You can google it, I won't post it here, because of unclear rules here.

Not tried this myself... but if you stay away from his politics Fast Jet Performance - Tim Davies is a former RAF Instructor Pilot and seems very good.

Why does he need to stay away from his politics? Like you are the know all and end of all politics? And yes, Tim is ex RAF who teaches people to fly correctly.

There is going to be political clashes with just about anyone that doesnt have the same opinion as you. But if you can keep yourself professional and not talk politics in a paid training session, then you shouldnt go into such training.

You don’t need an instructor for a video game airplane. This isn’t real life. Feel free to screw up as much as you like. 😄

I just saw one of his vids. He took a Hawk for a spin over the Mach Loop in another sim, remembering GOOD OLD DAYS.  I actually watched the entire vid. It doesn't happen too often considering my attention span, then I tried to find out what his politics were in another vid and...  He's all right in my book 🙂

Now, oh yeah we're talking about flight sim training. In my opinion nothing compares to a well organized online squadron (free 😄 )  The question is which one. I can't make any recommendations now since I've been away from online activities for a long time but I'm sure few other folks here can probably give you some good advice.  If you're a complete beginner you might prefer a laid back atmosphere and there are groups with this approach also.  But... once you get up to speed, the fun begins...  It's addictive, especially the inter squadron matches.  Many times I had to get up at 3 AM to accommodate Aussie teammates and others but I didn't mind...  I still had to go to work after that, lol.
