Autopilot not working after refuel/re-arm

Easy to reproduce if someone would please check it out.  Load up your A-10C II, take off, drop/shoot off some ordinance,  return, refuel and re-arm, take off again and the auto pilot isn’t working anymore.

Noticed this after the most recent update.

Unless something is being turned off or reset during the rearm/refuel process, I don’t know what’s going on? 🤔

Hi,

can you attach a short as possible track replay example.

Also after you have added or removed weight from the aircraft are you trimming correctly?

Are you sure you remembered to turn the EAC switch back on?  Apparently, this was added as realistic behavior a minute after touchdown

Indeed this was my problem. How long has this been implemented? I don’t recall ever having to reset the EAC switch before after I re-armed?

Thanks to both of you very much! I suspected it had to be pilot error. 😉

It was pretty recent and not mentioned in the changelogs AFAIK.  Have fun!

It was first reported here and assumed to be a bug, but looks like a new feature that's just missing an entry in the changelog. It would have been introduced around 2.9.4.53549 in April.

Just to be sure, it's not rearming that causes the issue, it's the fact that EAC kicks off after touchdown. That will immediately trigger a MASTER CAUTION and the associated EAC warning light flashing on the caution light panel.

While I understand checklists aren't for everyone, I still wonder why you'd take off again with the EAC caution light still on. All lights on the caution light panel should be off prior to takeoff, and it's always a good idea to take a good look around the cockpit to catch items like this one.

In fairness, I have a buddy who flew military and flies airlines now who says "why would I want to fly like I do in real life in DCS?  That's work, I'm here for fun" 🙂 At least if you miss something, you only lose some pride!

Fair point. Since I only fly in real life as a passenger, maybe I have a different approach to DCS. 😉

Then again, I know of quite a few RL pilots who prefer to fly DCS in a rather procedural, true-to-life style, just without all the bureaucracy and flight time limitations and limited airframe availability and all the stuff that comes when working with taxpayer money. To each their own, I guess. 🍻

Master caution light does indeed come on.  I fly 2d screen only. No trackir or VR.  The EAC switch literally sits under the throttle handles, and the EAC caution light is behind the leg riser, or whatever it’s called, blocking my view of either one.

I thought the master caution light came on because I had to re-load the DSMS weapons page. Now I know. 😉

Nah. That'll just pop up a message overlaying both MFCDs, something like DSMS INV or some such when the jet detects something on the pylons that doesn't match what's set in the DSMS inventory page. You can acknowledge and remove these messages with TMS Left Short. However, DSMS INV mismatches and similar problems, like a hung store, will not raise a master caution and will also not lead to any cautions flashing on the caution light panel.

In the past I could move my viewpoint with the mouse by activating mouse look (LAlt + c) and then using the middle mouse button. Whenever I've tried that in recent months, it didn't work for me, but maybe that's because I have TrackIR running? I'm pretty sure there used to be a way to move the virtual head position in order to be able to look at those panels that are (partly) obscured by other cockpit elements. Maybe someone else knows how to use the mouse to change the virtual viewpoint (and not just look up/down or right/left)?

Yeah, I can move my eye position with right alt, right control, and then number keypad I think it is. 😏
