Both bases are the same with regard to VKB support. They have a Thrustmaster connector and require the VPForce VKB adapter to work with a VKB grip. Then a cable comes out of the adapter that goes directly to the black box, which in turn plugs into a separate USB port.

And just like Max, I'm wonder why you can't simply convert the grip back to a Thrustmaster connector? Then you no longer need adapters and you should be able to just undo the conversion if you kept the original parts.

I can convert it back, I still do have the old hardware stuff...but I really wont want to use that stick anymore. Invested almost 600 bucks into this stick alone, I just added an additional 30 bucks to keep that stick as well so I could use it on this base if I wanted to. Had that stick since it released back in 2010, so I kept it for sentimental sakes. Its just...retired.

Hi everyone,

I won't go off-topic, but I have to share this:

If anyone is having a hard time getting the Moza Cockpit running (showing "Disconnected" no matter what you try), check for USB-COM devices like card readers, Arduinos, etc., on COM4. It looks like the AB9 uses COM4 for communication with the Cockpit software. So if it's blocked, there's no connection. Took me two days to find that out.

I would say that you are correct.

When I first installed mine it kept saying "Disconnected" so I unplugged it from my USB Hub and plugged it directly into my PC then it connected.

If the Warthog grip is one of your favourites. Mine too! Then keep it and reconvert it back to TM compatibility. Then get a TM compatible FFB base. That's really a no brainer of you ask me.

The warthog IS one of my favorite grips, but it should be retired. Ive had it so long, replaced many buttons, its missing some hardware, the paint is mostly flaked off from the trigger now because Ive so many hours using it...its mostly a sentimental thing now, so if I do wind up using another grip Ill wind up buying a new one. I just dont know how many more things are ready to go belly up on it now. Probably buy a cheap one off ebay for it. VKB joysticks like the MCE ultimate arent really sold on ebay much so itll probably fetch a penny or 3.

 

But then again....Ill probably just keep this grip and base because I REALLY like this stick. Ill just try it with the VPF base and see if I can get it to work. Sometimes its worth the hassle.

There is. With a z-axis built in. It's already on the site.

But you could just use any TM/virpil/etc compatible extension.

1.0.1.17 is the software version and 1.1.1.21 is the firmware version.

I dont have any extensions for virpil or thrustmaster. the bases I had at the time didnt really have the strength to really use them and I didnt want to wear my stuff out so never bought into that. Ill give Moza a shot, but I want to see some reviews first because Ive heard nasty things about them from people on the sim racing side of the community.

Joining the Moza discord did a lot to help with my decision.
