F/A-18 folded wing

When F-18 is parked on the ground, not an aircraft carier, is there a way to get the wings not folded? I mean there is no need to save rooms anymore

Note: It is an uncontrolled AI aircraft, not a player's aircraft

I think the OP means, that when you join a mission, that the aircraft parked there on an airfield should not have the wings folded right from the beginning.

I think there is an option somewhere in a lua file or something…but I don‘t know exactly.

No, on the ground airfields wings should not be folded. It's a feature use only on the deck to save space.

actually not, it is not always like that, check Canadian, Australian and USMC F/A-18

They only do it if required, like max wingspan on a taxiway for example. If not required, the wings remain down.

I'm not here to argue that land based Hornets should have their wings folded either. So far any land based Hornet skins I've made I always include the args in the description.lua to have them be unfolded by default. If anything the wing fold should be an option in the ME arming menu like many other features. I wouldn't have edited my skins to make them go wings down if I didn't think it was necessary.

So far any land based Hornet skins I've made I always include the args in the description.lua to have them be unfolded by default. I feel sorry for my unconscientiousness, I will do more research before making statement next time.

Also it would be better if the wing fold was an option, my personal thoughts.

been to at least a dozen bases and hornet squadrons, MCAS and NAS. you might see 1 out of 2 dozen with their wings folded, my last squadron VX23 we never folded our legacy or super`s wings, and down at TPS  with their legacy`s they never did. Spend a bunch of time at vf101 and never remember seeing a single wing fold acft on the line.

So it's kind of a pain, but you can make this happen. It's livery specific so if you want all F-18's in the game to have their wings unfolded on the ground, you have to go into each livery folder and edit the Lua file. At the end, custom arguments [8] = 0,

It also only works in single player or in multiplayer if everyone has the same livery, otherwise everyone else will see your wings folded.
