FC3 prompt in game will be removed in the future.

If I could join a multiplayer server directly from the launcher it would be great... not need to connect the VR headset and then open DCS, put on the headset just to see if servers up, or full, etc... but without that functionality, it is just adding a step more. I thought that was the main feature of a launcher.

Saw this launcher, disabled it immediately and hope to never see it again.  Then wondered to myself why it is that with so much essential stuff that has needed doing for years waiting to be done, ED would waste expend time and effort providing something that was neither needed or wanted.

You are welcome to your opinion, and if you wish to disable that is fine, it is the reason we added the ability to enable and disable within the launcher and in the DCS misc options. 

More features will come in the future and you may well change your mind. 

 

Regarding login, if you have auto login enabled you shouldnt need to login again. 

if you do not have auto login enabled you will need to do it manually each time, but I will mention to the team about having to do it twice ( launcher and DCS )

The launcher made a good impression on me at first glance and I would also like to use it. The problem is that the Tobii Eyetracker does not support the launcher.
Since Tobii is probably one of the minorities here, ED is unlikely to come up with a solution. Incidentally, I have the same feeling about Tobii, where DCS is apparently one of the minorities.

The launcher is no big deal. It's easy enough to shut off if you don't like it.

Reading so much negativity I would like to say that the first impression was quite epic TBH. I like it. The video kind of gets you into the mood.

Functionality wise I personally might no use it much but I like the aesthetic, how it shows the news and the module manager. I can see how a newcomer will have a first great impression.

I have not noticed anything wrong regarding crashes, instability or bad behavior in general. In fact, for me, this version runs like a charm: the terrain stuttering had disappear and the frametime is rock solid (edit: for the record, in VR).

 

For the power user out would be great if ED could eventually integrate a launch manager: to automatically launch all those programs we use, like simshaker and such

It was a great addition to DCS but i disabled it for now, it crashes DCS more often and sank my DCS VR performance (tried it both enabled/disabled). I´ve been using for some years the Skatezilla GUI Updater Utility (like the DCS Launcher is very useful for me to switch between 2D and VR as example, or clean up/repair DCS with a click), and i´ll keep it that way for now until the new DCS Launcher gets tunned.
