So far I installed Reshade 6, I can confirm it works with DCS MT (standalone) + OXR. But it's not even half as good as OXR Toolkit. 😞

Folders,  oculus-client, oculus-diagnostics, oculus-rumtine v67.  Unzip, copy and overwrite v68 to C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support

Ok, that's nice, but is there any way I can disable the update so that it doesn't download v68 again?

Ok, eso está bien, pero ¿hay alguna forma de desactivar la actualización para que no descargue la v68 nuevamente?

No, but at least until meta change the version it detects it as V68 and I won't update it. If it happens, overwrite again

Under C:\Program Files\Oculus there is a Staging and sometimes a tmp folder.

  1. Rename the Staging folder to Staging.bak
  2. Rename the tmp folder to tmp.bak
  3. Create a new file called Staging (you can create a new txt file called Staging.txt, then rename it to Staging)
  4. Create a new file called tmp.

By creating files to replace the folders, the Oculus updater can no longer copy the download file to the staging folder because it's now a file. Hence, this blocks your Oculus / Meta Link application from being updated.

Reverse the changes to allow updates again.

This only stops the app on the PC from being updated. It doesn't stop the headset OS update from happening (which "could" be incompatible with the PC app should the versions not match).

I also make a copy of a good working Oculus folder, e.g., Oculus to Oculus.v67, so I can quickly revert if necessary.

Good news - yes, OXR Toolkit starts (and DCS MT) again, no issue.  Maybe it won't want to update to v69 ;). Thanks a lot!

This trick is only for guys who use the Oculus Client (e.g. as the OpenXR provider) exclusively for DCS:

Just use your Windows Firewall to block the relevant two Oculus .exe's. I'm not on my computer right now, but these are something called like oculusclient.exe and something like ovr64service.exe (or very similar); use your task manager to spot them, then you have the filenames and their paths.
I do this since years, and the fagging auto-update function of the oculus client doesn't even know that Internet exists.

For mandatory updates (because maybe DCS REALLY NEEDS a specific version, e.g. IIRC 2.7 needed one specific), you can disable the firewall rules, start oculus, do the update, and re-activate the rules again (and pray it works). Before: Make a backup copy of your Oculus installation directory.

As said, I have this working eversince Oculus works in DCS (1.5.8 IIRC).

Another trick for not updating. Go to Program Files/Oculus/downloads and give that folder read only permissions ...
Drawback, you can not update any oculus app.
Good for DCS players only.

I just got hit by the Meta v68 update.

Unfortunately, since it was officially release (I don't do the public Beta)... uninstall and install again will still get you the v68.

There are many threads about this. Meta introduced a blatant bug in their update that breaks many of the OpenXR API layers out there (OpenXR Toolkit, QVFR, HTCC, OXRMC...). Then after I reported the issue to them, they ignored me.

Time to move to Virtual Desktop, where the developers care and properly look after their software.

does VD also works with wired Internet or only with WiFi? My router is too far away and the signal is too weak to sustain a stable Connection.

Interesting only, that after this Meta Link App shows still v68 (even after PC restart), so maybe it prevents download v68 again till to v69 👍?

You should use a dedicated router for only the headset anyway. If you do that, you can connect the router directly to your PC and keep it local. Sharing the Wi-Fi connection with other devices may introduce jitter.

Looks like it. Mine shows v68 as well after installing the v67 file sets.

Thanks to Werewolf_fs' v67 file sets. I am back in business.... for now.

I bought a dedicated wifi 6 router from Amazon and it works well for me. I have it next to my PC, connected to my main router via a power line adapter.

Another problem is updating to V68 in the headset. I have automatic updates disabled but it looks like that at mid August will be updated automatically. Not good. It seems we have to disable wifi connection in the headset to avoid that.

That's exactly what I had, there was no option to switch, I just had to accept the v68 installation, there was no other option.

Affected as well.

I saw some posts about OpenXR Toolkit being a suspect so each instance I had of it (2 - OpenXR Toolkit for WMR and one for the mbuccia foveated rendering).  I uninstalled each.

Still blowing up.

Apparently no one at Meta flies DCS and tests...

Scroll up on this page, page 3, Werewolf_fs has the workaround.

Well now it crashes even without forcing open xr. I switched to steam vr runtime using OpenXR runtime Switcher app. Seems to run ok.
