Devil 505 Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 I have not really seen an all-encompassing Vietnam aircraft thread so I thought I would kick it off. Below is a list of what we already have (includes the higher fidelity mods), what is coming, and what I would like to see brought to the game, either by devs or mod makers such as Tobi and 8-ball's Cayuse. There are a handful of these aircraft already in MSFS that I have shot some videos on. I did this for a brief demonstration of what it would possibly be like flying the aircraft if brought to DCS. Obviously, no combat scenarios but I focused all the flights over Vietnam. I will have several more videos coming in the future. I hope to drum up some interest with scout aircraft and cargo planes along with some heavy helos since we have the C-130 and CH-47 coming. The Cayuse mod has become an absolute favorite of mine and is a blast to fly in coop/multiplayer with the team as a scout. I will post a video below of one of our missions over the Marianas recently. Look forward to hearing the feedback and what everyone has to say. I would highly encourage everyone to research the aircraft below. Some of the observation aircraft tend to be overlooked because there is an assumption they were not armed. I feel like these aircraft are going to bring value to DCS when the dynamic campaign comes on line, SAR missions becoming a reality, and we start incorporating recon flights with cameras. IN GAME ALREADY UH-1 Huey (Needs a face lift bad and possibly other variants) MI-8 HIP OH-6 Cayuse (Flyable Mod) OH-58 (Use with old OD livery and no MMS, not period specific but works) OV-10 Bronco (Flyable Mod) A-4 Skyhawk (Flyable Mod) F-4E Phantom (Not period specific but works until Heatblur releases other variants) F-5 Tiger Mig 15 Mig 19 Mig 21 ANNOUNCED AND IN DEVELOPMENT A-1 Skyraider A-6 Intruder A-7 Corsair II F-8 Crusader F-100 Super Sabre F-104 Starfighter C-130 AH-1G Cobra (Flyable Mod by Violentnomad) CH-47 Chinook Mig-17 LIKE TO SEE NOT IN DEV AC-47 Spooky A-37 Dragonfly AC-119 Stinger F-101 Voodoo F-102 Delta Dagger F-105 Thunderchief O-1 Bird Dog O-2 Skymaster OV-10 Bronco (Official Mod) OV-1 Mohawk B-57 Canberra B-52 Stratofortress C-7 Caribou C-47 Skytrain C-123 Provider H-3 Jolly Green Giant H-19 Chickasaw H-21 Shawnee H-34 Choctaw H-46 Sea Knight SH-2 Sea Sprite SH-3 Sea King I would like to see something similar below done to the Huey as an upgrade or update to the older model. Video below is a Skymaster demo over Air America field in Vietnam in MSFS Video below is a Bird Dog demo in the same location as video above. Video below is the Cayuse mod, A-4 mod, and Huey. Flying a dynamic mission we put together on the Marianas flying coop. 5

Some AI assets I'd add to the list EC-121 Warning Star (Vietnam-era AWACS) EKA-3 Skywarior (at least the carrier version) EB-66 Destroyer B-52D -------------------------------------------------------- We also need a long list of ground and naval units. 6

VSN did a flyable mod with a virtual cockpit, but I had trouble using it to be honest. I would enjoy seeing a 3rd party pick this one up. I was actually siting in a cockpit of one in the Air Museum in Titusville Florida 2 weeks ago. I will get the video posted soon.
Slippa Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 I’d rather have a Vietnam map than halfghanistan. Even though I don’t recognise half of the aircraft listed, I’d be happy to have them all . I’ve seen some of those clips of all the sport in the Cayuse and I love that little thing already. The Huey’s good as gold already, could maybe do with the touch up that’s a WIP and who doesn’t like the F4? And the rest… I’ve already done a few tours in Nam but that was years ago. Would be good to get a modern day take on it. Here’s some footage of what we got up to. We trained pretty hard in that chopper. 3 1
upyr1 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 It's also vital to have more period assest and not just modules. 6

I'm biased to the Dagger since I'm in the Upper Midwest and our Dagger jocks were rated pretty highly (I'm not even that far from the old stomping grounds of the Deuces Wild), but I'd take an F-102 or F-106 any day. 2 Reformers hate him! Evoman Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 Here is a good DCS cinematic video of how DCS would look like in the Vietnam era complete with period correct sound tracks. 4

Fantastic! I have watched this many times and will up you one. LOL. The person who made this video made 2 more afterwards. They do an amazing job with all the mods. Makes waiting for all the real modules and Vietnam map that much harder. Great post! Never gets old watching these. 4

Devil 505 Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 For anyone looking for Vietnam content and a mission, linking our forum thread below. The boys and I are working very hard to provide everyone with DCS Vietnam until the official map and content are released. The thread explains everything but it is only period specific aircraft in game and a few high-quality mods. Cant wait for the Super Sabre and Starfighter to make the scene this year. They will be added for sure. Going to script some intercept mission with the F-104 out of Andersen. Also attached a video from last week running CSAR with the boys on the Southern tip of Guam. This mission never gets old! 3

Kinda light in the load out area though. But we'd get to experience the AIM-4 and internal weapons bays with rockets. 2 AVIONICS: ASUS BTF TUF MB, INTEL i9 RAPTORLAKE 24 CORE, 48GB PATRIOT VIPER TUF 6600MHz, 16GB ASUS TUF RTX 4070ti SUPER, ASUS TUF 1000w PSU CONTROLS: LOGI X-56 RHINO HOTAS, LOGI PRO RUDDER PEDALS, LOGI G733 LIGHTSPEED MAIN BIRDS: F/A-18C, MIRAGE F1
