My Chinook is currently in the hangar, I dodnt check it, so none of cargo isnt operational as slingloads? Btw. you should also remember about the weight of the cargo, sometimes you have to change it to a lighter one.

According newslatter of current state of EA:

but Im not sure what is working here or not.

It definitely is not the weight. As soon as I'm hooked, rope isn't even tightened, the cargo "crashes" without being lifted at all. I don't know if other helos are affected or if it is a Chinook problem.

Never seen light artillery before. But I will try to hook it with mi 8 tonight

Just a thought, but I’m pretty sure artillery is carried utilizing a two-point hook method. The change log specifically says single-point sling loading works.

Depends, artillery such as the M777 Howitzer is normally lifted using the two-point method, front and rear. Over here in the UK they use a single-point for artillery such as the L118 Light Field Gun. Unlike the M777 which will have strops around the barrel and rear of the gun for two-point attachment, our Chinooks use a single strop that connects to the center-point but splits into four so gives a triangular shape for attaching cargo allowing it to hang evenly. They lifted a Sea Harrier once using a single-point

Just found this on YouTube, can see what I mean rather than me trying to make sense of myself when I'm tired

It's not just light stuff we use a single-point for

The two different steel pipe cargo objects are a bit iffy too.

I also find it rather funny that several of the cargo objects, that AFAIK have been in the came for a long time, are too heavy to lift with any of the older helicopters. I saw another player almost pulling the rotor off his Mi-8 while trying to lift a set of logs, while the Chinook plucked them up with ease. 🙂

The light artillery piece in DCS has issues, using the Mi-8 to carry it causes it to immediately jump around and crash.

Yes, this is the case, some items have issues on their own and are not related to the CH-47, as well some of these items are from 3rd parties. We are working on all of them, thanks!

That said, pulling things like this out of the game might come across better to the many players who aren't deep into the forums, rather than leaving them in game and broken for months/years?

It's understandable that a lot of work has gone into correcting the problems, and the two successive patches to the latest update are further proof of this.

However, I'd like to point out that this particular problem was mentioned more than a year ago (17 Jan 2023 !!!) and has never been corrected... it's getting to be a long time.

So this bug was already reported long before the CH-47 was released.
So we can only hope that a solution will finally be found quickly... And the arrival of the CH-47 module doesn't seem to have given this topic any priority... which is a shame.

It seems the older an issue is the deeper in the pile it sinks as newer and more shiny stuff gets added that needs taking care of.
