skeebop Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 SPS-Contention-Syria-20240820-075413.trkI have been suffering what seems to be completely random engine failures over the last few times I have tried to fly the P-47. I have posted the track file of my most recent failure in 80s contention. I have boost and throttle interlocked and at 100%, the R-2800 can easily manage this as long as temperatures are within operating specs, prop RPM at 25. My temperatures and pressures were all perfect and in the green/blue. What has been happening is that the aircraft gets a massive surge of power, torques itself over and then oil temperature immediately starts to skyrocket. Opening all intercooler vents and cowling flaps does nothing to cool, and the engine loses all power and will completely seize within 2 minutes. The current state of the P-47 is unplayable as it is. This failure has happened to me multiple times, with or without boost engaged. 1
Cool-Hand Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 Have the same issue as well... 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
skeebop Posted August 20, 2024 Author Posted August 20, 2024 I was actually reading up on your post in the forum about a week or two ago. I have had some really strange failures in the past but it seems to be pretty consistent as of late. I am not even using WEP, and haven't used WEP on any of the flights where I have suffered failures. I took a screenshot of the failure log and it only says "engine overheat" null
Aernov Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 Once, a few months ago, I got this "Engine overheat" engine death on the ground, during runup after cold start, with indicated temperatures close to the bottom of normal ranges.
ED Team NineLine Posted August 20, 2024 ED Team Posted August 20, 2024 Engine issues have been reported already, I have bumped it internally. I believe this is related to that report. I will lean on it. Thanks all. PS, its reported, but please keep sending tracks, If there is something else I would like to see it, and sometimes the tracks will show other things under the hood. 2 1 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

What kind of paramaters in tracks at this point would be helpful? I've got two pages worth in the thread below about engine degraded...engine on and off. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Just any engine failure tracks where you have no clue or it makes no sense for it to have failed, as I said, its reported, but I like having plenty of tracks if its a common issue. skeebop Posted August 24, 2024 Author Posted August 24, 2024 nullI just had another failure but the track file is too large and it will not let me upload it
skeebop Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 All, I have created a shared folder where we can centrally store all of the track files. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1MQJTelMMB60TtDPJeYfLDzpMS1c3ik4n?usp=sharing 1
Wizard_03 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Bearing failure for no reason. Engine in blue zones for MP and RPM. Auto lean with minimal boost. LastMissionTrack.trk 2 DCS F/A-18C :sorcerer:
Tshark Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Had a similar problem with the Mossie. I looked into my axis commands and noticed that a twist stick axis on my joystick had been mapped into thrust controls in addition to my throttle axis. I have always deleted the twist axis in DCS and have it physically locked by set screw. Going over all my modules I found the axis mapping has been changed on most of them. Most of these changes had added axis mapping for the other half of my split throttle. So one side of the throttle retained slider mapping, but the other side was the default center mapping. This must have occurred after recent patches. Might want to check ALL your axis mappings for your modules. 2 9800X3D (5.21GHz Turbo), MSI RTX 4090 OC 24GB, ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING Motherboard, G. Wizard_03 Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Axis settings are fine for me, the problem is the R2800 should be hands down the toughest engine in game. Yet it will break well WITHIN normal operating parameters and will almost instantly break with the slightest abuse. Completely in contrast with the historical record. 1 DCS F/A-18C :sorcerer:
PluckyUnderdog Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Think I've just experienced this. Climbing, all temps within norms, engine just quit on me without warning. Trk file enclosed. Hopefully this can be addressed soon as it's something that makes the module almost unflyable, if people are having unpredictable engine failures.
