jparker36 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 New dlss profile using the transformer model is available from the cyberpunk update. I applied and used profile J and it seems to be much better. Before DLAA caused minor ghosting that was endurable, but DLSS caused massive ghosting that I couldn't bear. Now with the new model, I can use DLSS to boost framerates and ghosting looks more like DLAA was before, so a huge improvement. It enables me to bump up settings and hold 72fps on a crystal. Very good update IMO. 5
EightyDuce Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I don't know if it's a placebo effect, but definetly seems to have knocked down much of the motion artifacts, actually kind if impressive. 1 Windows 11 23H2| ASUS X670E-F STRIX | AMD 9800X3D@ 5.6Ghz | G.Skill 64Gb DDR5 6200 28-36-36-38 | RTX 4090 undervolted | MSI MPG A1000G PSU | VKB MCG Ultimate + VKB T-Rudders + WH Throttle | HP Reverb G2 Quest 3 + VD
warmachine79 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 What is the "J" profile and how does it compare when I the new DLSS and switch DCS ingame to DLSS "Quality"? 1

mmike87 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I tried it and it's definitely a step up IMO. Less ghosting and better, clearer visuals. I swear I'm seeing less stutter, too... But that could just be because the planets are in alignment. 2
rocket302 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 well i tried this with ryzen 9, rtx 4090 and 64gb ram with my meta quest 3. well i can see that the objects seem sharper, however i still see ghosting on images farther away. I am also now seeing the ground is choppy when flying low or taking off. i'm going to keep playing with it but for now i'm not sure it helps the overall experience. if i have missed anything im more than willing to try different configs.
peachmonkey Posted January 26 Posted January 26 it definitely looks crisper, less of a wash out. But it also affected the ground tracers (from ships for example), the tracers alternate between 'thick' and 'thin' state, and the close you get to them the 'thinner' they become and almost invisible, so bombing ships for example (in ww2) is very dicey now without seeing the tracers at all ... 1
rocket302 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 when DCS implements Vulken do you think these issues would be better? 1

It might be better with the new official drivers. 2 9800x3d; rtx5080 FE; 64Gb RAM 6000MHz; 2Tb NVME; Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4).

I've installed the latest Nvidia 4090 driver (for Win10), the behavior hasn't changed. The clarity of dlss 4.0 is amazing though (I'm running Quality), so it outweighs the tracers issue... not ideal but DCS is all about compromises, so business as usual. edit: apparently there's an early access Nvidia driver 571.96, trying to find it now.. I'm definitely not using it right now.. edit1: youtube vid explaining how to get the driver Edited January 28 by peachmonkey 1

In my tests ghosting in aircraft flying against sky is gone but there is some smearing when planes fly over the ground, particularly against trees. Spotting is an issue due to changing contrast against some backgrounds. Unfortunately using DLLS 4 for me is very unstable and I keep getting headset freezes and CDT. I have updated to the latest driver (571.96) and am using prest J. I'll try again after the official release. Hopefully tomorrow!? 1 1 9800x3d; rtx5080 FE; 64Gb RAM 6000MHz; 2Tb NVME; Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4).
Phantom711 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Thanks everyone for sharing their experiences with DLSS4. I have personally not updated yet. I would ask you guys to be a bit more precise in your statements though. So when you report ghosting/smearing, is that with the actual DLSS or also with just DLAA? vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord.
The_GhostRider Posted January 29 Posted January 29 The ghosting is really prevalent when using preset J, especially when the objects are farther away and moving at any speed. Closer objects appear to have less ghosting and flying in formation I see no real ghosting. I did try preset e and it’s definitely not as crisp, but the ghosting seems to be far less, even on far objects. The_GhostRider [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Dogmanbird Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I'm yet to try v4 Has there been any improvement to DLAA trailing/ghosting?

Esac_mirmidon Posted January 30 Posted January 30 (edited) So far so good working great with the new DLSS 4 file. But i´ve discovered that the J profile for me in 2D causes issues with clouds/sun reflections on the sea, like some weird polygonal artifacts, that are worse with head movement or speed. But using default option for DLSS 3.1 instead of J , i have the same quality, almost no ghosting at all and the issue with water reflections is gone. I dont know what profile is for 0x000000. (Force DLSS3.1 preset letter) Resuming: New Nvidia Drivers from today+New DLSS file on DCS BIN-MT+DLAA on DCS+Default Profile on Nvidia Inspector ( not forcing J ) is awesome, great FPS, crispy image, almost no ghosting.
