Bee_Sting Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) what is the real difference between the 2? i know that the ka-52 have a twin seat. why can't the ka-50 fire off the Kh-25ML/AS-10 Karen anti-radiation, Kh-25MP/AS-12 Kegler. what upgrades the the ka-52 has over the ka-50? Edited August 4, 2009 by Bee_Sting
sobek Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 The 52 is supposed to have up to date avionics like FLIR, but as there is no production aircraft yet (AFAIK), it's hard to say. Oh, and the ka 50 does not fire any of the mentioned missiles, because this was deemed to unsafe. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
GGTharos Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 The Ka-50 cannot launch the anti-radiation missile, and neither can the 52. They can allegedly both launch the laser guided version of it. The Ka-50 (or any other heli for that matter) does not equip the Kh-25 in combat. The ability to carry it in the game was a courtesy. If you're using it, you're not flying a realistic payload. fox_111 Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Anyone can find and post the picture of the digital cockpit of the Ka-52? I saw it once and I was impressed at the giant touch screens. It looked like the F35 cockpit.

VMFA117_Poko Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 That ... is so full of misinformation. Yeah, indeed: AVIONICS (...) Sensors include FLIR (forward-looking infrared) and terrain-following radar. COUNTERMEASURES Ka-50 is fitted with radar warning receiver, electronic warfare system (...)
zakobi Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 the BS > http://www.defencejournal.com/dec98/ka-50.htm So much unused space on that cockpit panel... :(
arneh Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Here is the Ka-52 cockpit: A bit more modern than the Ka-50 :)
nscode Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Hmmm x 2: first hmmm: could that white thing next to the HUD have something to do with that famous blacked out thing on the Ka-50 walkaround pics? second hmmm: no trackir :D (those helmet movement detectors on the sides of the hud). upgraded system, or no head pointing in the 52? Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
ED Team Groove Posted August 4, 2009 ED Team Posted August 4, 2009 You mean the Voltmeter nscode ? :D Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en

There are huge differences... All you can find in Mr. google. 1 Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... th3flyboy Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I also suggest sites like globalsecurity and fas.... Current Sims: DCS Black Shark, Falcon 4.0, X-Plane 9, Steel Beasts Pro PE, IL-2 1946, ArmA 2, FSX, Rise of Flight, EECH, Harpoon 3 ANW, CSP
nscode Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 You mean the Voltmeter nscode ? :D hmm. it's too small to be a russian voltmeter :D Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.

GGTharos Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Display models are not production models. I'll say it again ... there's no helicopter that equips the Kh-25 in combat. While the use of this missiles was envisioned, it was found to be problematic if not down-right dangerous. If they wind it worth their while to stick such big things on their choppers they'll find a way, but I doubt it. Both the Apache and Cobra tested mavericks as well, but neither uses them. GG you don't really know if the KA-52 can or can't carry the Kh-25 do you? I'm curious to why you think the KA-52 can't carry the Kh-25. Do you know something I don't?. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 (edited) ED worked closely both with Kamov and the Russian Military for the DCS project. No Ka-50 carries the Kh-25, and the Ka-52 isn't projected to either, AFAIK. It is simply of no use, especially with the Hermes missiles that the Ka-52 is supposed to be equipping at some point. /Can/ it? I'm certain it can carry R-77's and Kh-41's if you wanted it to. Will it? No. Again, display models and export offers do not make actual combat capability in the field. Just like prototype Ka-50's with IR cameras and whatnot are not used in the field. Just like Ka-50's don't equip an RWR in the field ... the Ka-52 does not equip Kh-25's. It might one day, but that'll be an unlikely change. m0jo Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Are these picture from the prototype or the production model ? That amp-meter is bad ass and where is the gunner optic's in that ka-52? What the datalink panel is doing down there ? In the Ka-52 picture, we can see a part of the gunner optic's Another Ka-52 Now available in grey ?
nscode Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 The second and last pircture in your post are actually Ka-50 :) Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
arneh Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Are these picture from the prototype or the production model ? It's the model that is being being evaluated for service I think, so should be close to the production model. where is the gunner optic's in that ka-52? Presumably they don't have any pure optical sensors anymore, and with digital sensors they can just show the image on the monitors. Like the Apache also has lost the optical sight in newer models.
