Is there a way of dialling back the amount of Pam An 747s and BA 727s? It seems like the entire Pam An 747 fleet is in Europe (well, they were part of the Civil Reserve Air Fleet, so...). BA never had 727s - the only 727s in BA-colours were operated by Comair in South Africa. Also, the "Negus" livery (1974-1985'ish) would make more sense for the time-frame (HS Trident): Spoiler null ================================ Uh-oh, uh-oh! Bremspropeller Posted October 31 Posted October 31 (edited) The large (nowadays) taxiway inthe west at Düsseldorf Intl used to be a runway during the map timeframe: The large building at the southern end of the crossing rwy as shown on the dev screenshot wasn't there before the devastating fire in 1996. CommandT Posted October 31 Posted October 31 It's super great to get highway landing strips finally but I do agree - the realism of them is somewhat hampered by the rather narrow obtacle clearence and the width of the highways use for these strips. At the very least the trees need to be offset by some safety margin on the sides to make them feel a bit more realistic. Hope this can be rectified. Otherwise looking great and thanks for working hard on expanding the map 5
Blackbahia Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Wow, very impressive! With the Choyna air base, the SU-27 finally has a home too. @MAESTR0 I really like the picture of the Ennepe Dam. Are there any plans to correct the Lake Eder (Edersee) on the current map? It is also a reservoir with a dam that is used for power generation and is one of the largest reservoirs in Germany. Incidentally, the dam was one of those destroyed during Operation Chastise in May 1943. 3 1

Hopefully some lakes of the wish list will be added

Kinkkujuustovoileipä Posted November 2 Posted November 2 @MAESTR0 Malmö Airport should be called Sturup Airport instead (or maybe Malmö-Sturup Airport), it wasn't called Malmö Airport until 2000s. nullAlso, see the image. I don't know if the highlighted object is meant to be Turning Torso - hard to see but it's the right general direction; if it is, it probably also shouldn't be there since it was built in 2005. And there's certainly nothing that big in Svedala either. 1

Volator Posted November 3 Posted November 3 (edited) Since the map seems to feature the A29 (also visible in the phases map) and given the popularity of the Bundeswehr Classix video of autobahn landings from 1988 (see page 1 of this thread), I hope Ugra will also consider the NLP strip at Alhorn on the A29, since this is where the video scenes were shot ("Highway 84"). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_runway Edited November 3 by Volator 1./JG71 "Richthofen" - Seven Eleven

MAESTR0 Posted Friday at 02:21 PM Author Posted Friday at 02:21 PM Hello figters "You have permission to enter the fairway." Today's episode, with a sea breeze effect, is dedicated to the facilities that will form the basis of your campaigns: from key and major ports supplying troops on both sides of the Iron Curtain to air defense systems. We've created key ports along the coast, which will serve as logistics hubs and naval bases in your missions. Wilhelmshaven Port. Germany's largest port and a vital naval base through which NATO forces were supplied. Bremerhaven Port: Another strategic port, critical for the movement of American troops and equipment to Europe. Rostock Port: The main port of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) – a supply hub and potential base for Warsaw Pact forces in the Baltic. The map reveals the positions of the famous SA-2 anti-aircraft missile system, a powerful shield for East Germany that is both a real threat and a priority target for NATO pilots. The SA-2 forces a complete rethink of flight routes and campaign tactics. The Valentin submarine yard. We show this colossal bunker once again. Have you calculated how many tons of TNT you need? During World War II, the Allies didn't have enough bombs. 9 5
Rick Mave Posted Friday at 02:44 PM Posted Friday at 02:44 PM Great to see so much progress being made on the map, but the highway strips are way below the minimum requirements for the time period the CW Germany map is set in. I urge you to please consider the extensive feedback provided on this issue so far. Other than that, as well as inaccuracies in the SA-2 SAM site infrastructure, the update is looking awesome and I can't wait to try it out! 5 Jagdbombergeschwader 35
ThorBrasil Posted Friday at 02:58 PM Posted Friday at 02:58 PM The ED team should be ashamed of their Afghanistan and Iraq maps. I hope they do something on the same level of work as Ugra Media. MAESTR0, would it be possible to replace or remove all the NATO equipment from East German bases? There's lots of NATO GPUs, tow bars, loaders and various equipment scattered all around the East German airbases which is slightly immersion-breaking. But otherwise, also big thanks for working on the map, and despite some of the above shortcomings, it continuous to be the best map in DCS for me atm! Edited Friday at 03:31 PM by CommandT 2 2

mazex Posted Sunday at 02:58 PM Posted Sunday at 02:58 PM (edited) You do realize that Malmö / Sturup Airport is completely uninteresting from a military avaiation perspective, both during the cold war and today. It's just a backup location. For MSFS 2024 or other civilian flight sims it makes sense though Ängelholm and Ljungbyhed are the ones in Scania that where military airbases during the cold war. So was Kallinge nearby in Blekinge that is today a very active JAS-39 Gripen base. But thanks for a great map! Looking forward to airbases that where actually used by the Viggen, not far from Malmö / Sturup. I did a Gemeni AI search and there is only one case it could find of a two seat SK 37 Viggen landing at Malmö / Sturup for its final landing going to a nearby museum. So no take offs : A Saab Viggen did land at Sturup Airport (Malmö Airport) on at least one notable occasion. Specifically, a two-seat SK 37 Viggen (individual 37800) landed at a field near Stenbäck's Flight Museum in Skurup (a few kilometers east of Malmö Airport) on October 21, 2012. This aircraft had performed its last flight in active service back in 1992 before being preserved. The Swedish Air Force also used Malmö Airport (Sturup) for various purposes, including fire-fighting training with decommissioned aircraft bodies. However, the landing of an intact aircraft for exhibition purposes is the most significant event related to the Viggen's presence at or near the airport. There have been Gripens landing there in modern times as it is a reserve field for the air force formally. mazex Posted Sunday at 09:49 PM Posted Sunday at 09:49 PM And looking at the screenshots from Sturup (Malmo Airport) there has been way to much effort put into this civilian airport. All the civilian buildings look rather much as IRL, it would never have been used in a cold war scenario accept as as an emergency landing location. I realized that Kastrup (the Copenhagen main civilian airport) is also on the list for some reason. Please dont spend time on doing that with a lot of detail either, it has not been used by the danish air force since the 30:ies and temporarily just after the second world war. It is a large civilian airport that will take a lot of time modelling. As this is not MSFS 2024, just add it with some rather generic hangars? Put the time on Skrydrup as Karup and Aalborg is too far off map. Skrydrup had F-16 A during late cold was and would be nice to include. If you should do any base in Sjaelland I guess it would be Vaerlœse. But please, don't spend too much time on Kastrup for the same reason as Sturup. They are 99% civilian airports. I assume a Soviet attack on Denmark and southern Sweden would have not have Kastrup (Copenhagen) and Sturup (Malmö) on the target prio list at all, even though they are big airfields. 1 Ryzen 9800X3D | RTX 5080 GPU | Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite AX MB | 64GB 6000Mhz DDR5 | Windows 11 Pro x64 | Virpil T-50 Throttle | T50 CM2 Grip + WarBRD | VKB T-rudder MK IV | Asus PG279Q 1440p | Pimax Crystal Light VR | Samsung 980 Pro as system disk and DCS on separate Samsung 990 Pro NVME SSD
