If we're being honest, you started this. He just expressed his opinion about relevance of some airfields. You went for him personally. BTW, he lived and still lives in Belgrade.

Anyway, to get back on track. Every airfield and strip mentioned is important to those that requested it, but you have to look at general importance:work involved ratio to see if it's viable.

For example, there is a gravel strip (now unused/being developed into industrial zone) near Cazin that was used during the war to transport casualties out and supplies in for the encircled 5th Korpus. It's close to my place. But I fully understand that it's relevance for current DCS ecosystem is negligible. You can make few transport hops and that's it. There were no daring spec ops infiltrations behind enemy lines done by helicopters, there were no desperate CAS scrambles. They had no radar. So, why devs should spend effort to model it? And if we go that route, where do we stop? Hell, I should request a trees surrounded dip in ground in village Jasenica to be modelled, since it was used as parking spot for a Gazela/Gama pair that made dozens of combat flights during 94/95.

As a toxic, narrow-minded person who apparently ruined your day by mentioning runway relevance, I strongly recommend MSFS 2020 or 2024, depending on your PC specs.
It has everything you want: Vršac, Kovin, your childhood backyard helipad, and probably every grass strip where a pigeon once landed in 1987.

You’ll love it.
No “toxic combat pilots” there, just peaceful sightseeing and unlimited aerobatics over your neighborhood.

Since you think every patch of grass that saw an Utva once is “strategically meaningful”, MSFS is basically your spiritual home.
DCS focuses on, you know… combat.
So maybe we’re both just in the wrong sims.

Anyway, I’ll go back to being “toxic” and talking about tactical relevance, and you go enjoy your Yak over Vršac. Win-win.

Have a pleasant evening.

I think I might have a solution...
All those smaller airfields can be added as just runways with no additional objects, logistics and AI capability. Just like the famous three small airfields on Caucasus.
Users can easily add objects and logistics of their preference and make a template for themselves.

Bane, how about compare them with German map smaller and medium airports? German map is full of all airports, and yes, I know some of them is copy pasted, but they are there, with so detailed stuff all arround. Then, I asking myself... why all this "not important" thing spreading through this topic, and why to compare it anyways with something which is 15 years old, when Ugra already did it. Dont forget Caucasus will get update to.

Pozdrav Bane! 🫡

Damn... Let me remind you that OnReTech is developing and managing this project. No need to fight over something you can't even control. Everyone should comment their ideas or wishes, but at the end developers are setting scope and priorities.

This is ground level and not just any building. And btw, my question was not aimed at you or your opinion. I am just pointing out irregularities about most known and important buildings. There are a lot more small stuff which really are not important. But the picture OnReTech posted is so visible and caught my attention. If you don't agree with me that in each county at least the most important buildings should be modeled correctly then you can turn in other direction. Thanks.

It is quite possible they would have copyright issues to include the actual statues in front of the building in detail.  Sinai map has at least one very identifiable building (a hotel IIRC) where they had to change the name slightly to avoid issues.

Forgot about that. Thank you for pointing this out.

Dear Friends!

Thank you all for the many outstanding suggestions on potential areas to expand the map outside the currently planned area. We will certainly keep these in mind if we include such an expansion, much like the extensive expansion we did for the Sinai map into Israel and Lebanon. For now though, our focus is on the high to medium detail area inside the green zone.

We've reviewed the Wish List and added the next airfields:

Udbina (Croatia)
Tivat (Montenegro) civil
Banja Luka (BiH) civil
Rivolto Air Base (Italia) military
Taszar Airbase (Hungary) military
Kecskemet Air Base (Hungary) military
Zeltweg Air Base (Austria) military
Rijeka Airport (Croatia) civil
Timișoara (Romania)
Camp Bondsteel (Kosovo) Helicopters

These spots are marked in yellow

Best wishes,
OnReTech team

Hi, I'd add the 5th AVES Rigel in northeast Italy (Friuli). It's an important army heliport in northeast Italy; there aren't any others in that area, and it would increase playability since it's also close to the border. I'd also add firing ranges, as they did in Germany CW. This allows users to already have a foundation for creating realistic scenarios and make this map a new reference for training (the Maniago, Dandolo, and Cellina firing ranges, used by the army and air force). Northeast Italy has all the credentials to become an area with everything needed to carry out any type of operation in a very concentrated area. Thank you very much for your attention.

It takes up already large precious space at the map.

What would you like to have added instead?

Is it a final map disk space concern?

Is it about map developer workload? That's new to me that a customer cares for the devs.

I think more is better. F..ck disc space, flight sims are huge. The dev time is an argument but I would like them to take a few weeks more and take this advice:

The Usecase is a question of imagination even if you only consider tactical missions. Especially if you don´t look at historical settings, small airfields and strips give a mission creator a bunch of potential scenarios. You could use them as divert fields or improvised farps in an ground advance. You can built cas missions or use them for SAR missions, or even logistic missions. When it comes to fictional scenarios everything that is within a meaningfull range of your base or the ao gives you more freedom to create varied missions. Branimirs Idea is great in this context, because for a mission creator it is not a big deal to place some buildings and structure around the field but you can not place a Runway by yourself. I hope they give us as much as possible.

Hello!
In this release, we will definitely not be adding bases outside the green zone

Best wishes

If I understood you correctly, there's the chance you add a couple of airfields in Bulgaria on a later date like you did adding Tabuk airport on the Sinai map, right?

Anyway, I will be here for first day buy.

Then you should know that on the territory of the former Yugoslavia, all airports were used, among others, even smaller ones with a grass runway like the one in Vukovar. All of them were more or less used for logistics and some even for combat operations with armed Jastrebs, Utva 75 and Antonov 2. How did you not remember Sjenica and Djakovica airports? What about Kovin airport? In addition to Utvi, Kovin Airport was also used by MiG 21. These are all airports used during '90. None of them are asking to do less important airports with complete precise infrastructure and facilities, but a runway with appropriate taxiways and a couple of facilities. Since it is known that the developers use satellite images, should only the image of the airport on the ground textures remain in those places? I'm just telling you, express your wish and don't affect the wishes of the rest of the community by negatively influencing the possibility that the developer might do it through comments like "don't need". This map is made once, so suggest everything you have, and hope for the best that it will be done and added, and don't deprive the community with your opinion that something is not needed because it is not this or that. Even Dača wrote for details on the building of the National Assembly, why not, he tried.

Sadly we don't have Jastrebs, Utva75 or An-2 available in DCS. 🙄

No, I think it is important to prioritise significant and major military bases. For example, Butmir and Rajlovac from Sarajevo are headqaurters for NATO and EUFOR in Bosnia. Almost every modern helicopter mission started from there.

Thank you OnReTech for adding the Tivat Airport in Montenegro!

I would also want to give one more voice for the Vršac Airport in Serbia. It is famous for the JAT (Yugoslav Airlines) Pilot Academy, which trained more than 2000 pilots from 30 different countries. It also hosts air shows every so often.

Thank you ORT for bringing the Balkans map to DCS life. Just to menrion something for us that fly helos also.

The most crucial helipads in Serbia besides Batajnica Airport are located next to the Military Medical Academy (VMA) also very near to Cheifs of Staff & Miltary Academy itself. Right next door to this helipad there is current a helipad in BIA ie Security Information Agency - silmilar to UKs MI5.

Name is LYBV - Banjicki Vis named after the district of Belgrade where it is located.

Im not buying it if they dont include "Poljoprivredni Aerodrom Leskovac" aka "Aerodrom Mira" Not Mira as my hot gas station worker, but Mira as "Peace" 😉
