Dear Friends!

Thank you all for the many outstanding suggestions on potential areas to expand the map outside the currently planned area. We will certainly keep these in mind if we include such an expansion, much like the extensive expansion we did for the Sinai map into Israel and Lebanon. For now though, our focus is on the high to medium detail area inside the green zone.

We've reviewed the Wish List and added the next airfields:

Udbina (Croatia)
Tivat (Montenegro) civil
Banja Luka (BiH) civil
Rivolto Air Base (Italia) military
Tarzar Airbase (Hungary) military
Kecskemet Air Base (Hungary) military
Zeltweg Air Base (Austria) military
Rijeka Airport (Croatia) civil
Timișoara (Romania)
Camp Bondsteel (Kosovo) Helicopters

These spots are marked in yellow

Best wishes,
OnReTech team

Hello OnReTech, thank you for the updates. Please keep in mind there are very important helicopter bases in Sarajevo named "Butmir" and "Rajlovac". These are very important locations for helicopter operations. Butmir base includes the EUFOR and NATO headquarters for Bosnia. Other optional locations are Visoko and Bihać airfields.

We are always open for assistance since our members are very familiar with these locations.

Thank you
1stBAS Team

This is amazing to hear!! As a Romanian and the many others who recommended it here, it is with great honor we get to have an airfield in DCS, especially for a map like this! For any references regarding Timisoara I'd be more than happy to help if OnReTech needs!🙂 Perhaps Caransebes AB could be taken into consideration later? haha

@OnReTech please, add LYVR Vrsac airport. It is between Belgrade and Timisoara. ❤️

Thank you for the Update, OnReTech! Really looking forward to this Map!

I have a question though: Will airfields in the low-quality part of the map be included? Or will those only be in the green area?

Because if so, i go the unpopular path: Rather make the map SMALLER😵 by reducing the size of the yellow area (which by the way are areas that were not relevant for operations deny flight, deliberate force or allied force) and therefore increase the green area to include the airfields in italy.

They cant cut just like that on green lines, there must be lower zone "outside" so you can see something when you flying on the edge... And give them a time, maps upgrading years after release, so yelow lower zone can be updated later with additional airport and detailed ground.

@OnReTech , can you include whole eastern part of Serbia inside green zone? Asking because its main theater of Balkan operations, so would be nice to "catch" it whole exYugoslavia republics.

Thank you very much.

Sounds great, thanks for all the work you're putting into this! Some questions on Croatia:

I see one airport point on Zagreb. Are you planning to add Lučko and Pleso/Franjo Tuđman, or just Franjo Tuđman?
(Lučko is civilian airfield as well as military/police helibase)

Additionally, there are also airports on Lošinj and Brač, and in Osijek and Dubrovnik. Will those be added later?

I'm in Zagreb, and happy to help with any info the development team might need!

Based on this discussion, I think the current list of airfields is perfectly reasonable. We don’t need every small village strip cluttering the map, that’s pointless.

The only addition I’d recommend is Dubrovnik International "Ruđer Bošković", considering its runway length of 3370 m.

I don't think anyone in this thread has suggested adding any pointless "village strips" to clutter the map. All the replies I see are suggesting international airports or locations with military relevance.

The addition of Zeltweg makes me very happy and hopeful that we may see another one or two airfields in Austria in the future.

Interestingly enough this also opens up many opportunities for the Austrian DCS community to do some serious milsim stuff on this map!

So I am right. 3D model is a bit wrong. Statues are way off. Real time picture attached.

@OnReTechI hope you can spare some of your time to check this. Thanks.

Agreed. Travelling at anything above 50 knots, I'm damn sure I will neither notice nor care.

Well, some people do care. If all of us did not care, then we could all agree that maps can just be 2D flat with pasted textures since we are flying high and cannot see it.

Actually, we need. If German map can have even light sport grass airfiled, why to not have Vrsac or Osijek or even Dubrovnik airport as you say?
And in the end, you look for the airport you need, after you have concluded that other airports are not needed. It's not nice. Join the wishes, but don't consider other people's wishes less valuable.

@OnReTech It would be great if you guys could add the Klisa/Osijek airport, it is a civilian airport located between Belgrade and Zagreb. It was used as the HQ for UN forces in Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Syrmia regions during the war, primarily Russian and also Belgian/Luxembourgish battalions were stationed there. It could help to fill the infrastructural void on the map in the Slavonia region (north-central part of the green area).

The developers already confirmed a large set of major airports and airbases across the entire region. Mentioned locations include real military hubs, international airports with long runways, and strategic sites that actually support fixed and rotary wing operations.

With a current list, it’s clear the map already covers all meaningful locations: major military airbases, strategic international airports, and helicopter hubs like Sarajevo Butmir and Rajlovac that actually matter for operations.

This is why small regional strips like Vršac, Visoko, Bihać, Lošinj, Brač, etc., simply don’t fit in. These places can’t support tactical planes, lack hardened infrastructure, have no logistics capacity, and don’t add anything valuable to mission design in a combat simulator.

It’s not about being “nice”, “not nice”, or "considering other people's wishes less valuable". It’s about understanding priorities. The developers are focusing on locations that genuinely contribute to DCS gameplay. Every hour the devs spend on meaningless airfields is an hour they don’t spend on real operational infrastructure that mission designers actually need.
