ok, that worked using the simulator link.

New problem. Before this I had used the ingame mapping. Everything worked fine. Trimmer worked and when I released it would sort of stay like it should. Now I get no feeling and the trimmer does not work at all. Not the keyboard and not the button on the stick I set.

Open the profiler and goto the BS profile, make sure you have the joystick device selected . From the menu pick edit>specific game settings. Check to make sure you don't have "enable center spring" enabled.

Good and helpful discussion going on here.

I now have my G940 set up to my liking, using some of the info provided here and then personal adjustments 'to taste' :)

The thing that frustrated me the most with it (I've had it about 6 weeks, so had all the latest soft/firmware from the start) was that, although I could see it was much better than my X52 in BS, I had not yet cracked the trimming system.

I never saw anything that told me the right way to do it - just stuff saying what it does.

It was only thanks to the 10th Producers' Notes video that I finally cracked it, and now I'm really enjoying my BS flying - instead of being continually frustrated and 'fighting' the thing around the missions.

Now I can concentrate on implementing the systems to their full capacity (again, thanks to the producers tute vids, which I have put onto a DVD and watch on my telly ;) ).

If anyone still isn't sure - the thing is to press the trimmer button (S4 on my stick), attain the attitude that you want and only then release the trimmer button.

For a year, I had been instantaneously pressing and releasing - so no wonder I had issues!

If anyone has doubts about the G940 - it is without doubt the best HOTAS I've come across. The FFB makes so much difference, but even apart from that, it's excellent. The wheels on the throttle are very accurate for fixed-wing trimming and the D-pad button on the stick is excellent for Shkval control. I use it in FSX, too - but it needs to be reset between changing profiles, I find, otherwise it can seem terrible.

However, I'm not as convinced with it in FC2.

I use the Dpad on throttle for shkval slewing. that way I dont alter the alignment of the chopper. Much easier to keep the throttle stationary while slewing than the joystick.

Well, I used to have it set up that way, too - but I found it quite awkward and so I swapped it over.

Usually when I'm using the Shkval I'm in autohover with 'turn on target' engaged, so it doesn't matter if there's such a small movement of the stick. It can't move that much with full FFB on, anyway.

I use the one on the throttle as a 4-way switch, with x23/x7 and incr/decr target size on the two axes, plus the weapon station selections on the shifted axes - works well.

I have the shkval zoom on the upper button behind the side trim wheel. Lower is for descent. Zoom in/out is the mini stick. Dpad shkval. Lock target is upper on front of throttle, auto hover is the lower on front. Pretty much allows me to not move my hand at all while targeting with shkval. And all with only one hand. Stations is a cycle command using one of the green buttons. When I had targeting on the stick, I could not access all the buttons needed without moving my grip a bunch. I probably need the gate size buttons, but I find I do not change it much.

Theres no real way to remove teh force feedback slop around the trim point. It is a Logitech software issue that doesnt look like it will be solved.

Funny thing is if I fire up Dirt2 and enable the force feedback there is no slop..

This thread has been a great find.

Seriously, my flying of fixed wings is pretty Ok but choppers are all new [as is my G940] and my BS flights are freaking crazy :joystick:

This Y

is the best visual example I can offer by way of explanation of my flight experiences in BS so far [ apart from I'm 100 meters up] and it's insane!

My wife is like " yep ... you're really getting a handle on that there .... or whatever!"

OK, I enjoy a challenge and BS serves that up in spades. Thoughts of throwing in the towel are no where to be seen but this fighting the chopper is getting a little over the top.

I'm a week in with the G940 and the game so what to expect .....

This thread will hopefully help immenesly!

Update! What a difference. My test was in the first flight tutorial ... Control Hover. My aim being to take off, fly over to one of the square fighter jet park places and land in there in a controlled manner without the crazy wild freaky stuff.

Mission accompished! Another few hours and I feel I can make some real progress on this.

Top drawer stuff.

Rep will be sent to many for sure.

Thanks all.

I know this is an old topic but I'm just taking a shot in the dark and hope you may be watching. You said "It was only thanks to the 10th Producers' Notes video..." Can you be a bit more specific as to where I can find that video, (or even the direct link if you have it)?

Thanks

What about the R 1& 2 switches?

Hi Power5, I'm multitasking between my training in the ka-50 and setting up the G940. I've been reading a lot of good suggestions in the setup of the switches and buttons but I notice that no one has said anything about assigning a 'Mode' change to one of the switches, (I am assuming that there is no way to get the 3 position Mode switch on the throttle to work), in order to at least double the abilities. I'm going to check that out when I get a few other things working right.

That brings me to my question; apparently my R1 and R2 wheels are connected to the view operation inside the cockpit which lets me look up & down, (R2) and left & Right, (R1). I can actually roll 360 degrees in either if I wanted to. I liked that until I found that the slightest motion of the throttle will activate the R-wheels to move all over the place.

Is there any way to 'desensitize' those 2 switches? If not, I'd like to assign at least one to zoom in and out if possible. But I don't know how to disengage either one and at the moment I can't fly because everything jumps around sporadically at the moment of take off. Neither switch shows up in the controls setup.

I installed the setup I presently have after downloading it from the web. Someone was offering their G940 Profile for BS but they didn't go through the Logitech Profiler. They did it all through the BS Control setup system and I just dragged and dropped the 3 controller profiles in place.

So does anyone, (if not you), know how to at least stop those R switches from applying any input?

I have the shkval zoom on the upper button behind the side trim wheel. Lower is for descent. Zoom in/out is the mini stick. Dpad shkval. Lock target is upper on front of throttle, auto hover is the lower on front. Pretty much allows me to not move my hand at all while targeting with shkval. And all with only one hand. Stations is a cycle command using one of the green buttons. When I had targeting on the stick, I could not access all the buttons needed without moving my grip a bunch. I probably need the gate size buttons, but I find I do not change it much.

Okay, I had to upgrade my pc and that means setting everything back up to the way it was..

Now the thing is my G940 has a very strong re-centre and it's doing my head in. Anyway not to have any return to centre?

and yes I have un-checked the box.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Be sure you have un-checked the box in the game profile and in the genelar profile, i have noticed that the game profile settings does not overly this setting over the general forces panel.Check that your axis settings in the game profile are by defaul, i iarc sensivity 50% and the dead zone 0, max 0, ... i cant remember now. Dont follow instructions in the firt post in this tread , those are before patches and g940 firmware. Use 100 in all force settings and play eith 50% +- trim formce inside game. Good luky, it works perfect for me.

Sorry for digging this old thread up, but it has helped me a lot configuring my G940 for Black Shark 2 and I wanted to share some additional finding.

Contrary to the first post, DO NOT invert any axes directly in the Profiler! I had my throttle and R1 axes inverted in the Profiler and then had the same issue as the OP, i.e. after starting a mission, I had to quickly unpause, pause and move those axes to their maximum so that BS2 would recognize them fully. The same when Alt-Tabbing. This is ONLY because of inversion in the Profiler.

To invert an axis, do this DIRECTLY in BS2. A tiny movement on such an axis is all BS2 needs then to get the current position and update your instruments accordingly.

Has anyone who does NOT use the logitech profiler manage to get the stick working with FFb on in BS2 with patch 1.1.1.1.?

thanks.

Fang

Yup!

I had some centering issues, but it looks like it works now.

G940 is up and running, trimming works and I didn´t use the profiler.

Don´t know if it helps, but I never had any version before 1.1.1.1. I was busy with A-10, but couldn´t resist the holiday discount and wanted to support DCS a little bit.

So maybe your problems have to do with some older configuration?

Thanks Dustoff74, It might be as you say some old configuration as i think I copied my old saved profile over from 1.1.1.0.

I have something else to try now.

I'll post here if i get it fixed.

All fixed. Deleted all the old key commands and reassigned everything and it works great.

To Gadroc, Finally figured out why stick returns back to central position after removing my hand from it. Thank's a lot. I was already decided to return G940 back where I bought it from. Not any more. Thanks again.
