Who's adding it?

So why is it being added? What about realism?

I've never seen HUD footage/pictures of an F-15 with a funnel gunsight. The diagram below is the only cannon modes I know exsist on the Eagle.

Nice pics, the only one of those 3 though that we can use on the F-15c is the first one, right? The others are for the F-15e Strike Eagle?

Yes. There's possibly an automatic A2A cannon sub mode/mode to the F-15C, in 1982 an F-15B shot down an F-102 drone during the IFFC fire control integration program, the gun was fired by the central computer while the pilot manouvered onto the drone from a head on aspect at a closing speed of 800+kts.

F-15A/C are hard wired for A2G but never utilized for reasons. In other words you can plug a MK 82 if you want to where the External Tank is Hung. For the F-15A/C to meet the multi-role type requirements now a days it must do ground strafing.

I hear from many people in Hyperlobby big concerns about the performance in 2.0 due to the fact, that it is based on the BlackShark-Enginge.

Anyone something to add here?

How is there concerns about the performance of the DCS engine? It runs on DX9, the current version is designed to work with multiple cores, on most systems it runs smoother than LoFC 1.12x, I think you might also find that most people moaning about the performance of DCS have systems that are virtually antique, and are probably in need of upgrading. I am personnaly looking forward to the release of 2.0 because it'll finally unleash the power that 1.12x has been trying so hard and for so long to get. Yeah you have really talented modders out there that have extended the life by creating FPS mods and mods that streamline certain aspects etc. But you can only do so much and it's time for an update.

Personally i wont have issues with FPS..even though <50FPS is a reason for me to eject and/or do something about it.

But the concerns are also coming from people who are up to date (systems) and do know the difference between BS and 1.12a. I personally have never tried BS, so the first chopper i will see, will be the one i shoot down :D.

Just asking, what ppl have to say abuot this....or what their thoughts are?

Less than 50fps and and you're not happy? With the system I've got I can acheive a steady 30fps+ in DCS, I've had near enough 60FPS in cockpit on the 104th DCS server on my current sustem whereas with LoFC I can acheive max 25 in cockpit looking around and 30 looking straight up at times while online on the 104th Lockon Server (even if I'm the only one on the server). Granted this may have something to do with the size of the mission, time of day, locality. Or it could just well be the aging DX8 engine currently in use. I do know that microsft have made some SERIOUS changes to Directx which may have caused some issues (but that's just a theory I have). Either way, LoFC 2.0 will out perform, out gun, out match and thrash anything 1.12 has to offer.

50 is the lowest limit, and something on deck or takeoff.

I remember Yoda and me back in days had always our settings in a way that 50fps was the lowest...surely you have to make some graphical sacrifices (visib, modellot.txt, scenes, mirror, haze...which suits best etc etc), but there is a good reason why i dont fight under 50FPS. While others enjoy the trees and all the buildings, i enjoy my missiles splashing the bandits whith "crappy" gfx :). Once you get used to 50-150FPS you will feel like killing your PC if you hit the 30FPS edge....at least, that´s what i feel.

My question was though, how will the BS engine behave in 2.0 (higher speeds, higher alts, more and faster preloads ..etc etc etc.) you got the point.

Im sure they've beta tested it to make sure it works.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Great news i agree.

i have one very important question.

I currently cant host a DCS black shark online room. due to a randomn port forwarding issue. Will this be fixed for DCS black shark and its integration with FC2 update. and will i be able to host FC2 ??? or will i suffer the same problems with DCS that requires me to buy a new router. (i've quit DCS:BS due to this confirmed problem) my future with ED software depends on this question.

Most of those issues should have been solved (some client+server side fixes applied in 1.0.1). If you still have issues after 1.0.1 then I guess you ran into one of those routers which causes additional problems?

Due to the fact that DCS and FC will become MP compatible I think it's safe to assume they will use the same mechanisms to connect over internet.

I think I would have invested some time in investigating the problems you have if I were you. :)

Go investigate the problem.. PFFF. <anger rises> with all due respect ive been through this over at the dcs forum countless times. why dont you go investigate my experiences, go read my posts in the bug section. the mutiplayer section the general section.(patch1.01 thread) And read the response from dev team members. The fix required for someone like myself to enjoy hosting abbilities has "not been fixed in BS v1.01 a,b or c. sorry to be rude. but ive spent months investigating this whilst discussing this on these very boards.

thanks for responding though. If combined with FC2 and black shark the hosting abbilites stil dont function for me, ill have to accept that... i do hope theres an update to the netcode though, which should have been my original question in this thread and provided with some concise background history of my expereiences. im just kinda sick of having to prove that i have investigated this each time i mention it.

Random port assignment is the problem i face. my last discussions on this were in the form of a post asking the community what routers can and cant host DCS black shark without this random port assignment problem. The outcome of this post is/was that a Dlink router may serve me well. However the notion of purchasing a new router does not appeal to me. Yet... and i see no reason to get a new router because of the inabillity of the software to communicate with my router properly*. And besides this. I have witnessed the dev team comment on exactly what needs fixed regards the code. i can not explain what was said with any technical understanding.

*Private hosting uttilising IP connect method is fine. just the public malarky via "that" lobby is the problem.

Ultimately i want to see a very robust lobby system from ED for our community. Back in the days of old, hyperlobby served a community well. given the nature of DCS i believe it essential for Ed to give us some serious social lobby system of sorts that compliments all our desires to enjoy DCS to the max.

You guys having the problem were you can't share your ports (i.e 10308 for lockon) on a network and have an outside pc try to access the game? If so this I believe is not an ED issue, nor is it an issue with your router! I have tried all options on this and the only thing I can find that causes the problem is Microsoft when they made Vista and Windows 7. Check the forums for both these OS and you will see that they won't let you share ports for some strange reason. The only work around is to associate the game with a different port.

this problem is an inadequacy relating to the net code. Ive heard it 1st hand from a dev who kindly explained with technical jargon im not capable of understanding. The admission that there is something wrong was included and a relevant quote regarding its fix in the patch is also an admission that therre was/is a problem. Sadly that fix did not fix and there was attention payed to this fact in the form of factual communication.

anyway ive had enough of this. i dont give a flying funk anymore.

To ED: are you planning any way for the community to make new cockpits and/or customizing avionics?

I think making it open to new cockpits would keep FC2 alive for much time (just look at F4 and ThirdWire sims).

No answer for this one?

Jacobs, LO FC 2.0 is almost hopefully out the door soon and ED have their announced features. I highly doubt that something as big as what you suggest will be all of a sudden a new feature. Watch for DCS to become more and more moddable, and not LO FC 2.0 which very well may be the last update for LO FC.

Thanks Crunch. But it would be great if the comunity could create new cockpits.

I would like this too. I wouldn't count on it being there but...

I think the potential is there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but people have made custom cockpits with working guages (ADA Alpha jet) albeit without a HUD or MFD. So, the very fact that this either the "secret" has not yet been figured out, or can not be done in the current state of lockon is the reason no new cockpit have really been perused. So, I guess the answer to your wish would come in the form slightly more open code in 2.0 or documentation by ED showing how this can be done.

In any case, I wouldn't count on this happening and I think we're going to have to be content with the current "half-3d" pits we have now. Hopefully all pits will get a significant makeover. Ricardo is nearing the completion of the Russian pits. Next would be the the F-15 pits, and I'm sure if FC 2.0 will breath new life into lockon, another modder will appear to take up the challenge.

A long winded answer, but I hope it (kinda) answers your question...
