Hi guys,

A few months ago I had some questions about online-simming and you all told me to try it out. I had my first online-session two weeks ago and to be honest, I'm quite disappointed.

It reminded me of an ant farm, but less organized. Everyone just takes off and seeks targets to destroy, but there is no coordination at all. No formation flying, no command structure, or whatsoever. Pure chaos in my point of view. I had hoped to become a member in a formation, receiving, or giving orders. None of the above occured.

On my last session, we all had to fight with an idiot, called 'Mous', who could restart much quicker than any of us (how does that work, btw?) and permanently crashed into us, hunted and killed us, just because we did'nt follow his request to kick one specific simmer. What also wondered me was, that he could'nt get kicked from that server. He was like a fly on a pile of sxxt, that you permanently chase away, just to see him land on that pile again a few seconds later.

So, my question is: is there a special server, where the other serious simmers lurk around, or do you really like this sxxt that I have experienced recently? I really want to try it out, but I have had it up to my chin for now.

Lonewolfs are really alone in BS. It is true... as mine example I don't feel cooperation between pilots. Perhaps it is due of lack of in-built voice exchange between helicopters (TS is NOT solution...)...

Anyway in group there should be better.

About Maus... he has been banned for my request. At least on STP server... if he has dynamic IP he will still be there cos STP admins didn't implement latest ServMan, which gives solution for votespammers and colliders. To avoid distractions I'm trying to avoid non-latest BS servers and flying on checked servers like 3Sqn or 104th.

He has been able to start so fast due of new cheat - uber fast ramp start.

I too tried the online but expected to see what you did: anarchy.

You must get involved with a dedicated online squad to get serious. Having said that, alot of the squads I see advertising here are "jack of all trades", involved in other sims along with BS, so I do not see how those groups can be overly proficient with BS.

Are there any virtual online squads ONLY flying BS?

You're right. Each of us against the rest of the world ;).

In my first online mission, well it was'nt a real 'mission' it was just three helos exercizing landings on an oil rig. One approaching and the other two watching from a close observation hover point. It was quite fun. After that, since my first online battle I was asking what the funk was going on in the heads of the simmers. The coaxial rotation of the blades must have some negative effect on some simmers.

Can you explain the in-built voice exchange a little bit more precisely? And the difference in VE and TS?

So so. Votespammers and colliders. There are specific names for the sxxt he produces? Fantastic!!!!! Thanks for clearing at least a few virtual places from "it".

Any solutions in progress to supress this cheat in the near future?

Our Squadron flys DCS Black Shark and we coordinate our flights plus use the data link you're welcome to join.:joystick:

Thanx. I'll definitely give it a try. But due to my job, I can't promise to be at the hangar on the given time. As a photographer I don't have a job that goes from '9 to 5'. Would that be a problem when joining a squad? I think when joining a squad, the first things to follow are discipline and being there when given the order to ;). I simply can't promise that, but as soon as I'm in the cockpit I'll follow any orders and follow you even into death, comrade ;).

EDIT: Sorry guys for messing this post up with my quote-chaos . I hope you can sort my selfmade quotes. I don't know how to correct this:dunno:.

Inbuilt communication based on radio frequency and datalink mode allows you to talk to everyone who set up same frequency and datalink (maybe even possibility to talk with anyone else).... so you can speak to everyone you meet on server without forcing to run TS. It is much more comfortable solution due to not many people come in TS.

Yep people do collides --> colliders / they votespam all time --> votespammers.

Newest ServMan stops it.

This depends only of server. Admin does decide which file will be protected. It seems there has to be added another one to list.

Outside of special hosted events you are not likely to find a great deal of teamwork in a Black Shark or Lock-On server. As boberro said you really get the feeling of being alone quite easily within the game. You have to be motivated and outgoing to convince people to join a common voice communication server and to try and organize yourselves.

I apologize for not developing the 3Sqn dedicated Black Shark server any further than it currently is. The news of FC 2.0 pretty much killed off any of my plans on making missions specifically for Black Shark, as we are going to add the Ka-50 to the PvP missions we will create for FC 2.0.

----edit----

Unfortunately ServMan only detects who collides with one another. It doesn't know who caused it or why it happened. Thus is doesn't kick or ban players for it. It does however kick/ban players for teamkilling, but unless a weapon is used before a collision, it won't count as teamkilling. On the 3Sqn server there is a 5 minute timeout between each new vote.

It's unfortunate really, much like you I was expecting a lot more co-operation even on public servers, but it just isn't there.

When I first started flying online (on the 159th and STP servers) I'd always join their public TS servers, but now I don't even bother because there is pretty much never anyone else to talk to.

Obviously joining a wing would be an obvious solution, but to be honest I have no desire to do so at the moment. My experiences with my former Falcon 4 VFW has somewhat ruined the whole wing idea for me somewhat. That and the fact, I'm not really that interested in the BS. I'll review this when A-10C is released, although the guys I used to fly Falcon with in my former wing will most likely start flying A-10 together so hopefully I won't need to.

Yes it's true, however when people see that guy, they voteban him or votekick :). He can't defend himself by using votespam, so he is getting out... Isn't it beautiful? :D

Sad that some people, that are not right in the head harass serious simmers and even get famous with that.

Not should you ever expect it to be, regardless of which sim you're flying :) Public servers are public servers.

Yep, that's always a pain, and unfortunate. Though every now and then you'll run into someone who both is on comms AND knows what he's doing.

I suggest visiting a few squads and asking to fly with them casually. Specify your goals for this - ie. teamwork etc. Not all squads at the same level regarding that, nor are all members of a squad at the same level, so you'll have to do a little bit of searching. This will be the same regardless of what sim you fly, again.

Another option is to just plain old build a network. Get a couple guys from the forum that you like and that you know are interested in serious multiplayer on your MSN list and hook up. Even if most missions out there are made for more than two people you can always modify singleplayer missions and just replace the AI wingman with an extra client.

Who knows - it might end up as a new squad that is more in tune to your own level of commitment, both in terms of time and realism.

VOIP has alot to do with it. Join public game servers that have it enabled (Arma2, TF2, L4D... stuff like that) where teamwork is as essential to success as it is in flight sims and you will have a positive experience. Join the same servers where nobody is talking... the positive experience goes out the window as it feels like you are playing with bots. The 51st GCI weekend in LockOn helps prove this is as true in flight sims as it is other games. Most of the players took the initiative and joined their teamspeak server. What resulted was this verb known as "teamwork." The communication wasn't as fluid or to the point as just flying with 3Sqn guys privately in the same flight, fighting the same targets. But its still a hell of alot better than the voiceless other airframes in the same server that could easily be mistaken for AI, simply because they don't communicate with you.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

Indeed. In fact it's how every wing I've ever been part of started out, I do actually have a Sim/Gaming network (as I suspect many veteran simmers do) made up from ex squad/wing mates, but sadly none of them share even my limited casual interest in BS. This should change when A-10C comes along, I began selling A-10C and nagging/brainwashing months ago :D.

I mentioned this recently in a post that its hard to find good pilots to fly with in Multiplayer who are willing to make the whole experience a team effort and not just a look at me I’ve racked up the most kills or just fly around pissing everyone else off. I have signed up to Squadron as there does not seem to be any way around this however I was also thinking of hosting a dedicated BS TS server that includes a weekly news letter organizing set times throughout a weekend and maybe a few weekdays where missions I have made will be distributed along with the news letter and people who can make the meeting times can get together and organize their flights with those present in the TS Lobby.

Unfortunately I am facing a block by my ISP on all VoIP applications including TS because the local Government are a bunch of greedy gits and don’t want people communication overseas at cheap rates. Once I get around this I will put up a post.

Much like Cyclic, I intend on buying a TS server which I plan allow public access to so people can fly together outside of VFWs more easily. Although it won't be until A-10C comes along.

I am surprised there isn't more of a casual co-op community on these forums really. Hopefully that's something that'll come with time and more DCS modules.

Some people don't have TS or may join online just to kill 20 minutes or so. There are a number of reasons there's a lack of "teamwork" on public servers most of which we don't know the person on the other side. Usually if contact is made teamwork ensues, but if they don't have TS it's very hard to be chatty with typing while maintaining hands on controls.

Most squads will let you fly with them as long as you're cool.

I'm still a noob (had the game for a month) but have the basics down good enough to try campaign mode.

There's a "server" mode where you can host a game and other people can see it right? What I'm getting at is if anyone wants to hook up on line and fly around, just practicing flight or weapons, PM me and we can set up an agreed time. Maybe enough of us can create our own virtual squadron. I'm willing to give it a shot.

That should be no problem our flights are quite flexible and there are pilots worldwide in SVN. Looking forward to the next inter-clan war our last one was quite good as far as the air battle was concerned.(not so good on the ground and at sea though:doh:)

For those who don't wish to join a squad for any reason I've decided to start hosting a public TS2 server earlier than I had planned. If anyone wants to play some co-op missions with other forum members feel free to use my comms server.
