I'm still in for the Apache, and then the Su-30. Then I want the F-15E!!! They really didn't need to show me the screen of the new F-15Es on SimHQ. Gets me jittery during the day when reminded . Or they should turn DCS into a universal sim with ships, tanks, aircraft, and infantry!:D

JT looks pretty decent for a garage sim. Only downfall is the non clickable cockpit. But, I would love some mirage, A4, and harrier action and will most likely pick it up whenever they finish it. The mirage and A4 are some of my first jet love affairs from hollywood. Then the intruder and F14 of course.

I really have no desire for a modern simulator I guess. None of the newer jets have as much character. Or I am just getting to that age where, "they don't make em like they used to."

Weird age to get into, since the new jets have their own character, and are better made than they used to ;)

Not doubting new jets are better. Of course they are. They are all 20 mile engagements though. Of course the F14 started that crap I guess :)

I dunno, I like the look of older jets better. F4, F111, F14, A4, A6, Mirage, Mig 21, F5, Delta Dart, basically anything from the cold war are my favorite jets.

It was the F-4, actually, with them newfangled sparrows.

Anyway, not terribly hard to bring those engagements to closer ranges in a bunch of scenarios ;)

The cold war had no sims because the tech was just not there. Then end had a couple, but the best part in the earlier years didn't. There were just so many planes being created and used. Now its all F15/F16/F18 practically on both sides. I think a good sim based in the cold war would be great. Not as in depth as the DCS series of course. A step down with more aircraft. Basically LOMAC with cold war planes. That would make me happy. Hopefully JetThunder can do this. Then I still have DCSW and BS for the full on sim aspect.

Well, Cold War age didn't have fancy avionics, but , imho, analog equimpent is exciting to operate. Basicaly, radars are "wysiwyg", meaning, all you gonna see is small bright spot, and you don't get much data like in F-15, merely just azimuth, range and closure rate.. (if range indicator is rotating clockwise, target is moving away, if not, it is closing to you).

If we do go in that direction, I'd like to see the F-8 represented.

But the F-15 is still the preferred option for me. Runner up is Super Hornet or Flanker. F-16 is OK, but I have Falcon.

Harrier (Air to Air required) is also ineresting. I've liked that one ever since I flew it in USNF 97.

There are some nice 2 seaters to fly, but I don't like the idea of reducing them to 1 pilot aircraft and putting two players in the same plane might be difficult.

Yeah, I would feel like the kid on the playground that doesn't get picked to play kickball.

1 Seater, unless the AI is the best ever. IL2 was not so fun jumping around the bomber and having the AP change direction.

I am not suggesting ED go in the cold war direction. I just think it would be great to get an entertainment sim with that era of aviation. I would say one of jet ages largest growths.

Me think you don't have the latest version of IL2 1946 4.09m up2.01 mod?

Nah, haven't played IL-2 in a while. Used to only have a twist stick, so maybe I will fire it up again with my g940.

because having the ability to have variety would be nice and those hel'ies also provided offensive as well; with load outs more lethal than its attack counter-parts.

Why transport helicopters when there is the Kiowa, HueyCobra, and the Apache?

the frogs would be nice but AFM means little if they can't get to systems infomation for it.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

why not move the Su 25 and Su 25T to DCS

they already have the AFM

Don't take me wrong but aren't you/we enough of su-25's? Why to get an aircraft with a lousy A/A support while you can have both at the maximum? Why not a NATO bird? I'll die for F-15E .. Just think how fun will be to team up with A-10C's!

Plus it's the same era.. Logical choice.. In that matter F-16's will be good too.I'm not a fan of single engine aircraft, but hey,NATO fighter with A/A,A/G capability, and lots of flag on it.Lastly as we have F-15E modelled in the game, just small cockpit swap will not hurt anybody.Am i right?

I think the idea was something that could be done relatively 'easily'. Keep in mind that DCS does not yet have a radar (A-G or A-A) implementation, so implementing a multi-role fighter to DCS standards is a LOT of work. Much of the work for e.g. the Su-25T is already done, since much of the targeting systems is the same as similar to the Ka-50, etc, and DCS: WH probably covers a lot of the other flight stuff.

So perhaps it would be viable to get some kind of Frogfoot into DCS within 9-12 months? And this would also have the benefit of providing a direct "opponent" to the DCS Warthog, as well as being able to fly cooperatively with it.

I think the idea has a lot of merit. On the other hand, if the "ultimate goal" is a high-fidelity multi-role, it's possible that implementing a Frogfoot won't really assist with climbing that mountain, being more of a detour. (Unless that multi-role is Russian, I suppose.)

Lastly as we have F-15E modelled in the game, just small cockpit swap will not hurt anybody.
I'm not sure what you're referring to here. There's a long, long way to go before any kind of F-15 is modeled in DCS...?

well, that's of course your logic ,i respect that..But to me is senseless, what you say there. It's like putting 2009 cars to F1 2010 game, because modelling the new cars and the aerodynamics are too much work.. I don't think that game makers work that way..

Well i was referring to :Even the F-16 comes as a next module , it would be okay for me as -i believe- is possible to put the F-16 pit into F-15E in order to fly it as we do in Flaming Cliffs 2.. Long way to F-15 model?? What is this then?

This is the DCS aircraft wishlist. There's a LOT more to making a flyable DCS-quality aircraft than just having a nice 3D model of it!

Discussions about mods to make X flyable in LockOn are irrelevant. DCS models everything about the aircraft in as much detail as can be achieved on a home computer. You're unlikely to see a current-gen fighter in DCS since many aspects of it are classified and even if ED could get their hands on the data needed to model it, they're very unlikely to get permission to put it in to a consumer sim. (Note that by "model" I don't mean anything to do with graphics.)

Not trying to be a snob here; FC2 is a great survey sim and the A-10A in it is keeping me occupied until DCS: WH is out. But they're leagues apart in terms of time and information required to implement the aircraft.
