no, its "reputation power" a hyrarquic level in accordance to the number of posts: means nothing relevant.

Old Irc programs used this to enable senior menbers to perform bans and other hostilities on newbs, and it quicly addicted users into an "arms race", i.e. IRC chat became very popular.

The hirarquic level remains in may forums and IRC's but they no loger provide you any power just tells the others who are the seniors.

Respect is usualy the weapon, but I guess that too is vanishing rather quickly these days! icon10.gif

Now every member can slightly adjust a reputation of another.

This allow new members to see who's talking right and who's bad.

ps: Pilotasso, what's "hyrarquic" or "hirarquic"? can't find a translation for it.

"There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: recklessness, which leads to destruction; cowardice, which leads to capture; a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble." So I have just checked and I have 10 rep points. Does that mean that ten people have clicked the scales and added to my rep points? Oh and if I leave a comment where does it go?...I just gave jj_pt a rep point but I can't see the comment I left anywhere.

It would be helpful if the Rep Power info was added to the "*ATTENTION* - Forum rules & policies" sticky.

Click on "User CP" upper Left and thats where you can see if someone has added to your Reputation and you will also be able to read their comments, if they left you any.. it doesn't say who added to your rep but it does tell you which post its for.

I still think though that you must get rep points for number of posts too.

Would it be possible to add a choice of disapproval? If we get our Rep Power up to 50 do we get a prize? :D

Yep, once your rep rating reaches 100, you are concidered too wise/nice and you are banned automatically

j/k

Is it possible to do it multiple times? Tharos would look oh so nice with the multiple negative I'd give him

Interesting discussion:

http://nokiafree.org/forums/showthread.php?p=342287

If it's just for fun, then I think this "distinguished road" and "really nice person" ranking is hard to understand and could benefit from a more ordered theme. Maybe, to replace them with military ranks? But that is not very original... and some posters have real military ranks that conflict. Ideas?

Excellent explanation there, thanks SK!

Now about rank names. We can develop something about aviation, from "Doesn't know how to take-off" (-50) to "Know how fly steady forward" (+10), "Can differ CAS from ILS" (+20), "Can win without using of AMRAAM" (+100) and "Ace of the aces" (+1000)

those are just funny examples, let's develop something like this.

What do you think, SK? :)

"There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: recklessness, which leads to destruction; cowardice, which leads to capture; a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble."
