isoul Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 The only objection I have is price... I bought it a year ago 30euros and in Steam its 40euros...! Al thought I don't like steam(its on my computer as a necessary evil), its a good marketing choice!
element1108 Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 The 10 additional Euro's is probably the "steam cut" hehe. It would be "cheaper" to buy directly from the company vs a third party no doubt. If it was exclusive to STEAM then maybe the cost would be lower. I could be completely ignorant here, but I wonder how popular flight sims, especially the study sim ones are pirated. I mean compared to the cost of a HOTAS setup, Tracker IR and a decent gaming rig, you'd think $20-$50 for a sim isn't all that bad. I would expect the "pirated users" are the ones who even if the price was right wouldn't bother to pay when they can have a hacked copy for free. I could be wrong...I've been known to be wrong a few times ;).
Crimson Drake Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Check Steam mid-week or during the weekends ... great deals on those days, 30+ percent off. Hopefully Ka-50 will make the list as well. Also there's an off-line mode for Steam as well, not for all games - just need to check.

Mugenjin Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Too bad it's double (!) the price than the boxed version (incl. shippng!). Atleast here in Germany.

Poor mans sniper Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Does the Steam U.S. version include everything that the other U.S. download versions?
Yuri909 Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 If you get on steam you will be forced to use 1.0.2 which has no training missions in them at all. It is not very helpful and I was discouraged until I worked out basic controls through my joystick and removed the distraction of the cockpit by going to HUD only mode.
Nate--IRL-- Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Yuri you can find lots of training stuff on ED's channel on youtube. You should find it very helpful in learning the sim http://www.youtube.com/user/eagledcs#g/c/0CFA7EA40064EAE4 Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

Will I get the gulf oil war campaign and the joystick fix?
winz Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 I found the developers notes, present on the linked youtube channel, or downloadable from http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=133&scr=products&lang=en much more better than the training tracks. And I learned all the basics from watching those tracks and then trying the same thing myself. But in the end, you cannot evade reading the manual in a sim like this ;) The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC 3
polomeister Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 I can't believe BS only retails for $40, given that decent pedals + hotas retails for at least five times this amount. They're practically giving it away. I reckon ED could retail A10 WH for $80-$100 and most of the people on these forums would still buy it

They're practically giving it away. Yeah... i reckon they're making no money at all. Businesses do that; they're all kind and fluffy. Given you need decent pedals and a hotas to get the most out of BS, thank the lord it's only $40.
