Thank god this issue will be controlled after the patch... spotting units from 30km is just downright ridiculous! As for Shkval... yeah i guess we better start practicing without the 0x option... Still there should be the ability to spot targets beyond maximum range of weapons. As it is now the transparency is there even at 10km... when you have 8x Zoom its odd and at 23x zoom (where you can actually see the ground behind the transparent building) the effect is unrealistic. I wish that was handled better. It works both ways: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=851839&postcount=2769 Devs are individuals and participate on the forum as such. Not every post is coordinated by a company-wide email. :) It is another matter that sometimes actual announcements are posted on only one forum section and I agree this should be handled better. However, I would say in this regard it is definitely the English forum that tends to recieve more attention with update posts from either myself or Wags and Russians users file the warranted complaint. Boberro Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 (edited) OK I must say 8x zoom is not so bad, however tactic must have been changed. I found Merkurij is nice IR pod even with its poor capabilities. But how about your guys with your FPS, is it better now? Personally I don't see any difference. Edited May 9, 2010 by Boberro Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... baton_bb Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 OK I must say 8x zoom is not so bad, however tactic must have been changed. I found Merkurij is nice IR pod even with its poor capabilities. But how about your guys with your FPS, is it better now? Personally I don't see any difference. After that, I have installed the patch 1.2.1, when I use Shkval, the game is working a little bit faster, but I think, it should be better, at least just like in the FC1.12b. The game is playable now. I think at this moment, ED did all, what They could. The bigger changes in the game engine will be too expensive and a time-consuming. Perhaps We won`t this problem in A-10C Warthog (Maverick monitor). They (ED) have a lot of time to fix this problem. Best regards.
Sarge55 Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 It solved the Shkval problem for me, just a very slight FPS hit for a few seconds just like in 1.12. The Maverick monitor never did seem to be much of a problem. 104th_Crunch Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 FPS drops for me 2-10 FPS. Much better than the 30 fps drop before.
CPRobertson1 Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 So the patch is (at least the start of) the way to go in fixing the framerate problems?
Boberro Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Yes. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
CPRobertson1 Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 aye, that's much better :) Not sure if it's just me but the game seems to run much smoother in general.
Pilotasso Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 I have been running 80-100FPS in air and 40 on ground. Its sweet. .
isoul Posted May 10, 2010 Author Posted May 10, 2010 The FPS issue is solved with the 1.2.1 patch! A drop of 10 fps in worst case over a city. The only thing that people must get used to is to acquire targets from longer range, once you get close its quite harder to point the seeker on the target and engage it in time. Btw the 8x and 23x zoom is the real zoom of the Su-25T's Shkval so the game is more realistic.
Mustang Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Whilst not being entirely sure of what they do, i'm guessing also that these new parameters in graphics.cfg go some way to smoothing Shkval FPS MFD_render_params { two_pass_always = true; dist_multiplier_fov_base = 0.3; second_pass_start_fov = 0.1; second_pass_far_clip = 100; single_pass_near_clip = 10; } and yes, it is a hell of alot smoother now, GJ ED  1
