Didn't like the ch ones so sold them on. Am using my g25 ones at the moment but sometimes they don't seem to return to centre which maybe causing some bother in the shark with trim.

Was looking at the simped ones instead of the saitek ones.

Any opinions on them?

Which versions do you have guys?

Well, as Deadman said: "they rock", and I fully agree with.

I got the Simped Vario Pro in the far 2002 (or 2003 maybe), when the

DHS Electronics was a small society.

Then I got a small third part (don't remember the society) add on, the toe brakes. Ok, not so cool as the new simped brakes generation, but they work fine.

Then again, I made a small modify to let it work with the "old" Microprose Falcon 4, as it didn't manage separate devices: as I own a Cougar System too, I simply interfaced the simped with the Cougar, so F4 could "see" an unique device.

BTW, it's a great stuff, I strongly suggest it.

SIMPED F16/C. COnnected through Cougar, hall effect rudder and load cell brakes.

I guess Thrustmaster Warthog wont' have the rudder connector, so I don't know what will I do. They are perfect, I don't intend to sell them, so I hope DHS - electronic will come up with the USB connector. The other option is to make one myself, but I haven't looked yet how that could be achieved (Leo Bodnar's USB controllers perhaps). And there's always an option to make a controller box from the Cougar - I could buy a broken one, and use the insides to make a panel with switches and pots, and rudder connector.

But I'll deal with that once the Warthog comes out. Right now my Cougar and Simped are working ok.

How 'bout combining the two TM controllers by taking Cougar stick base and connecting your Simpeds and your Warthog throttle to it?

Yeah, that's an option too, remaking the Cougar to cockpit panels is just a step forward. :) Although I couldn't do that to mine, it still works like new (that is - has some centre play, but otherwise ok).

Thanks guys pretty good feedback.

I guess I'm better getting the standalone usb version and not the one that goes through the cougar....just in case (heaven forbid!) Anything happens to my cougar.

Did you actually see wear on these items you mentioned or do you just think they will wear out there and thats why you did the mods?

Are you really jamming on the pedals? It doesn't seem like there is much force during normal use to do so much wearing. How long have you been using the Simped's?

I'm using the Simped F-16/C for more than two years, and I see no problems mentioned above. I know they are not strong enough to actually stand on them, but for normal use I see no problem regarding stability. Saitek Pro Rudder I had before was much more flimsy and squeaky.

I like the stiffer spring - it's easier to avoid unwanted rudder input with them, and they are not that much stiffer than Saitek ones. I checked the center levers, and they are completely smooth and without wear. They are quite thick, Simped site says "glass fibre reinforced plastics", and you can order replacements if they wear out. But I can't find even half of mm of play at the end of rudder arms (which are quite long, much shorter Cougar has about 2mm of play - even new).

I guess it all depends how you use the rudder. I usually don't fly aerobatic stuff where you push rudder to the end as fast as you can, and slam it to the final position - I can imagine that would damage it in time. But I think such manoeuvres would damage Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals the first time you will try it. Speaking from experience, I had to disassemble them twice after gentler inputs.

Are they worth 270 EUR? I don't know, I bought them used. And I hope Hoffman Electronic will come up with gameport to USB adapter so I can use them without Cougar. But I really don't see old Saiteks and CH as a competition.
