Outlaw24 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I have two English copies of Black Shark, I downloaded the lastest patch 1.0.2 (English) and installed same, the cocopits are in English but the voices are in Russian. The gameplay setting are set to English, Imperial, NATO. The same thing is happening to two different systems (Windown 7/64 and Vista 64). Didn't have this problem prior to the patch. So on the Russian side, russian voices US side, English voice. Made the changes but I'm still having problems, the tower tranmissions are in English along with the cockpit, however, the Ekran and Betty voice test are still in Russian :( Spoiler: MSI Z790 Carbon WIFI, i9 14900KF, 64GB DDR4, MSI RTX 4090, VKB STECS Mk ll throttle, VKB Gunfighter Ultimate MCG Pro w/200mm Extension, Winwing Orion Rudder Pedals W/damper, Wingwin Monitors/MFD's, UTC MK II Pro, Virpil TCS Plus Collective, MSI 34" QD-OLED @240Hz monitor, Samsung 970 Pro M2 2TB (for DCS), Playseat Air Force Seat, KW-980 Jetseat, Vaicom Pro, Tek Creations panels and controllers.
Panzertard Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 (edited) What? Hm, I thought the Tower & Awacs had gotten the notification to take language lessions as well. Okai, I'm not 100% sure about that part of course. But as you say, if you fly a Red-side (Always in SP campaign, missions - or on that side in MP) - you will get a russian betty-voice. It's based on the fact that the helo is tuned for a russian pilot. You still can use subtitles for those messages from Nagging Nadia. I need to revisit how Tower & Awacs should behave. So on the Russian side, russian voices US side, English voice. To be honest I don't really see this as a feature that was worthy of adding.. It defeats the whole purpose of localization and when your playing online you don't always have a choice of sides :/ This is going to be annoying imo.
Ulrich Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 We had a lot of suggestions from players to make all sounds Russian for Russian aircrafts, so there are very different opinions on this question.

Okay, but I think the previous setup gave us more latitude, maybe it will be come an option on the setup screen like we have for the different trimmers:thumbup: Spoiler: MSI Z790 Carbon WIFI, i9 14900KF, 64GB DDR4, MSI RTX 4090, VKB STECS Mk ll throttle, VKB Gunfighter Ultimate MCG Pro w/200mm Extension, Winwing Orion Rudder Pedals W/damper, Wingwin Monitors/MFD's, UTC MK II Pro, Virpil TCS Plus Collective, MSI 34" QD-OLED @240Hz monitor, Samsung 970 Pro M2 2TB (for DCS), Playseat Air Force Seat, KW-980 Jetseat, Vaicom Pro, Tek Creations panels and controllers.

JG11Preusse Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 We had a lot of suggestions from players to make all sounds Russian for Russian aircrafts, so there are very different opinions on this question. german mig-29 dont have russian sounds in real :) there are also no placards/plates (text) in russan letters. sure many different opinions are availible for many subjects, somaybe an optionin the settings menue can help all. i also dont like to fly an aircraft with kyrillian letters an russian language, because i cant understand or read something :) btw. chinese airforce also uses different russian aircrafts and you also wont find russian language/text inside these aircraft :)
ycodryn Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) Same problem here. I have tried UK, Canada and inside helicopter I hear russian voice (like ekran) and second thing is about X-feed valve: now is fixed or when is up (is closed) and when is down (should have been closed) but is open ? Btw the third thing is about logbook: when you choose another country usually you loose count of killing but now beside that warning nothing happens and finally if you can`t view training tracks with 1.0.2 patch why you left that TRAINING tab in game? Boberro Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Sometimes text in cockpit is translated, sometimes not. I have recently seen pictures with - forgot - Finnish or Estonish whatever important is that MiG-21 had some text translated into foreign language and some were left original in Russian. It looked funny though. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
2GvSAP_Dart Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 This needs to go into the readme list. Seriously. I thought I had corrupted something in the application of the patch and uninstalled and reinstalled twice over it. :shocking: Please tell me there's a way to get my old girl back talking to me in a way I can understand? Maybe copy sound files over? After all, if I were a Russian pilot I think I'd be able to comprehend what the helicopter is telling me without subtitles. 1
Frederf Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Let's compile all the changes the patch does with all the necessary warning notes and make up our own readme.

Speed Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I just want to see bitching betty language be an option you can toggle in the config. I must say though, I don't really mind the new russian betty. I suppose I'll learn what the new "lower gear", "warning, under attack", and "watch Ekran" sounds like soon enough that I don't need to look at the subtitles. Still, I imagine some people will find this annoying. Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. 2GvSAP_Dart Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I like the russian voices much more. The russian accented english was a big immersion killer for me since day one. But now my sense of immersion is killed because I can't understand what people - and my own aircraft - are saying to me. Very realistic - a pilot can't understand his wingman due to language difficulties. Subtitles don't cut it. "Read all about it - fire in the left engine!" Clearly they should have given us an option to keep the English language (with accent) voices.
