PedroTheGoat Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I may be one of the few... But I like the Russian voices. It adds a lot of immersion for me, even if I have no idea what the voices are saying. Plus... My Ekran sounds SO sexy now.

Slayer Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I guess that means in DCS:A10 there wont be a lick of Russian language to be found- since it's and American aircraft?? I don't think then that the russian players will be very happy either... PatriotCFS Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I'll hate myself in the morning for poking fun at this thread. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_GxXRbSFDg
Ven Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 We had a lot of suggestions from players to make all sounds Russian for Russian aircrafts, so there are very different opinions on this question. And now it seems those suggestions were minority. If there are forum threads asking for a features and 50 some people agreeing with it, doesn't mean that's everyone or even the majority. People who thinks its garbage idea wont even respond. Game designs being changed by few that are active on the forums.

Bucic Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 In the russian section i guess? I was going to say the same thing :) F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
zangler Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 for people like me that use 3 monitors...subtitles are broken...so this is not really a tenable option... im guessing there is a huge list of things people would suggest be changed before 'force a language onto players even though a lot of them dont speak it mode' got mentioned... Slayer Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 I was an early adopter and bought the russian version because I was impatient and wanted to fly so the ekran voice really doesn't bother me, It was a daunting task to learn when you couldn't understand anything and had to use videos to learn how to fly it . I somewhat learned quickly what the messages meant because I crashed a lot and took a lot of damage early on... The thing is, people don't like having choices taken away and flight simmers are the MOST picky group of gamers I've ever met. They get upset because they didn't get to have input on patch. Localization is a part of just about any game these days and if you want worldwide sales you need it. It takes huge resources and time to do all the translations and supporting such a product can be an immense task for developers so it is a fine line to walk. They probably did this to get the patch out so all of us could fly together on multiplayer and for this I'm grateful. It's the most fun I've had in a long long time. In the end after a day or two it's not really a big deal and you don't even think about it (unless you are obsessive/compuslsive) I played online all weekend and it really didn't affect the gameplay for me at all. I could still read the EKRAN and see the subtitles and yeah....the russian betty DOES have a sexy voice.....lol [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] System Specs Intel I7-3930K, Asrock EXTREME9, EVGA TITAN, Mushkin Chronos SSD, 16GB G.SKILL Ripjaws Z series 2133, TM Warthog and MFD's, Saitek Proflight Combat pedals, TrackIR 5 + TrackClip PRO, Windows 7 x64, 3-Asus VS2248H-P monitors, Thermaltake Level 10 GT, Obutto cockpit
element1108 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 I don't mind it as a feature, I would optionally turn it off though just because I don't like reading vectors or what not from AWACS...listen so my eyes can be on systems. BUT...I actually don't care enough to REALLY care...this is the internet and I feel my opinions matters for some reason?...why is that I wonder. EDIT: Although online with a chat window traffic it can be hard to read what the awacs or control tower are saying.
martinistripes Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 I prefer side dependant. Before I used to install Russian language into my English copy. Now I won't have to faff about doing this. With the subtitles and tool tips, it's really not so difficult. I'm also learning Russian. :smartass: Valve Index | RTX 4080 (Mobile) | i9-14900HX @ 2.20 GHz | 32GB RAM
joker62 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 We had a lot of suggestions from players to make all sounds Russian for Russian aircrafts ... . I fully agree. Thanks a lot. antonio
Wolf Rider Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 it may take a bit of work, but how about having the accent side dependant? ie An english speaker in a Russian cockpit would have english Nadia but with a Russian accent. I do admit having this scheme localised would take a fair bit of work though City Hall is easier to fight, than a boys' club - an observation :P "Resort is had to ridicule only when reason is against us." - Jefferson "Give a group of potheads a bunch of weed and nothing to smoke out of, and they'll quickly turn into engineers... its simply amazing." 2GvSAP_Dart Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 (edited) You'll need to follow the link. My first modding of the sim, and it was easy as punch (compared to what I was expecting). 1) Follow the link to the English Betty. 2) Follow the link in the English Betty thread to the Modman thread. 3) Install Modman. 4) Edit the .ini to point to the new locations (simulator.exe) to run the sim; I just peeked at the new desktop short cuts for what to change them to. 5) Follow the instructions for how to add the Betty mod in ModMan. 6) ???? 7) Profit. (Betty is back to talking English with a Russian accent) Edited May 18, 2010 by 2GvSAP_Dart Giving Betty her due.
funkee Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 There should be an option in sound menu to choose the voice language.
