Hello guys,

This is something that has also happened with the old Flaming Cliffs and it happened to me for the first time a couple of minutes ago.

I was flying a single player mission with the Su25T and just as I rotated the nose and the wheels left the tarmac I retracted the landing gear. The nose wheel retracted just fine but both wheels from the main landing gear got stuck and didn't fully retract. Well, mission over for me.

Since the "problem" persists from as early as the first Flaming Cliffs version I reckon this is the way it's supposed to be? :helpsmilie:

Never had I heard that retracting the landing gear the moment you get airborne could make them get stuck. Is it because of the momentum of the wheels while they are spinning and being retracted at the same time, sort of like an extremely undesirable gyroscopic effect?

Thanks for any help.

I just had this happen again, I was ina mulitplayer mission, I was flying the SU-25T. I landed at our airbase to re-arm. I landed and sat on the runway witht he parking brake on. it refused to re-arm. I moved it to the grass, engines still running. It still would not re-arm. Also, when I asked it to re-arm, I never got the response 'copy' from the ground crew.

yea I been getting that on the Su27 as well. I have to kill the game and restart. and then its working agian. I think the wheels are bugged..

hadn t any problem so far, neither on- or offline. Are you sure you didn t exceed the max speed?

take off at 270, 15° climb, gear up and not exceeding 300 km/h till the gear is locked.

jaeger, that doesn t match with my experiences,..but i never had any problems, not su 27, not 25 t not 33, equal if i rotate@ below 300 or much further speed.

Spawned in the parking area and RRR'ed and could'nt move the plane was like it had its break on.

Did you fire up the engines?

Wheels up to soon :D

I know. One must wait a few seconds after taking off to start retracting the landing gear or so it'll get stuck and won't fully retract. What I'd like to reason is why. :helpsmilie:

Never happened to me...

The bug (feature?) is easy enough to reproduce. Start rolling down the runaway, and normally rotate at about 270km/h. The very second you get that bird airborne, hit the key to retract your landing gear. The nose lg will retract just fine, but the main lg will get stuck about 3/4 into the landing gear compartment.

Mission over for you.

I've only managed to reproduce this with the Su25T. Don't know if payload is a contributing factor. Never have I tried to do this on an empty plane.

Wel that is easy. It's like making babies, if you retract to early sorry but there will be no baby :P

I had same situations few days ago, i event mentioned about it GGTharos :]

You can't move front gear during so high speed! Why F-16 does have front wheel blockade during taking off?

About not rearm ability I had it yesterday on Kutaisi. I had to re-spawn and start mission again.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

I really think this plane is bugged..

I think I've discovered what the problem is; at least with the Su25T. If you press the landing gear button while your main landing gear is still touching the runaway while you're rotating the nose, you'll get the problem portrayed at the screenshot I am sending.

The nose landing gear will fully retract but the main landing gear will end up getting stuck about 3/4 into the landing gear compartment. I honestly don't know why. But, well, at least now I know how to avoid this bug (again... feature?)

I've tried this with the other planes, including the Su25, but could not reproduce it.

I am also enclosing the track of the fore-mentioned problem. Hope something can be done about it, if it is indeed a bug.

Thanks for all the attention.

Given how slowly the T-frog lumbers into the sky, why are you hitting the raise gear key so soon? I'm watching my VSI and waiting for oh, I dunno, positive indication of climb, before raising gear, flaps, chopping throttle, anything.

Seems as if the Weight on Wheels while the Gear is retracted FUBAR's the mechanism. RL Pilots may be better versed to comment on the likelihood of this happening.

Real world crews usually wait for an indication of positive rate of climb before touching the gear handle.

The weight on wheels switch (squat switch) will prevent all gear movement with weight on the wheels. Otherwise, the mechanism will be damaged, and the plane could settle back down onto its belly and make lots of expensive noises.

I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!"

Don't think the Sukhoi Design Bureau remembered to install this device into the ones we have available at FC 2.0.

Hit "G" just for kicks while stationary on the ground and this is what happened: :pilotfly:

My 2 cents on the matter at hand: Couldn't this same problem from the landing gear lever not being disabled, when it actually should, while WoW is detected be causing the incomplete landing gear retraction in the situation I've reported?

The gear beong able to retract whilst on the ground like the pic above is a feature, its the same in the real aircraft as ED have already said when FC first came out a few years ago.

In the manual it states that if you are skidding off the runway and cant control the direction of the plane and notice that you will leave the runway and end up on the grass, the correct procedure is to retract the gear so that you skid on your belly and open the canopy whilst doing an emergency shutdown of the engines.

But the gear being able to retract whilst stationary on the ground is a feature of the real plane.

Its as it is in RL..
