Quick question I've probably AAR'd about a hundred times now, none of them logged in my logbook... anyhow is the tanker crew supposed to give you those little cues, like up down left right?? I was wondering cause I've never heard it. Not really a problem or care much anyhow, just wondering....

Posted

No, you fly the AAR. Hook up, stay in the green zone until done, disconnect. The boom will follow you. Them shouting directions at you would only end up with you PIOing all over the place (which is what tends to happen when I do aerial refueling :P ).

New to the DCS A-10C sim....

Just got this simulator loaded and ready to go....also downloaded and installed new skins for it....however I am having a problem enabling the skins. Could someone please explain in simple terms how to enable skins please?

The readme file says to go to paint schemes on the game load out...but I don't see any such button.

Thank you.

Digital DCS-A10C Skins 4.25.2011

Instructions:

(1) Download and Extract the "Digital Skin .dds files.rar" files.

(2) Place the .dds files located inside the folder named "DDS Files" directly into your Bazar/Test Textures Folder inside your DCS A-10C installation location (do not place the folder, only the files inside it)

(2) Place the following 6 folders named;(Marine Dig-Original, Marine Dig-Teeth Only, Marine Dig-Teeth Flame, Army Dig-Original, Army Dig-Teeth Only, Army Dig-Teeth Flame) into your Bazar/Liveries/A-10C folder (the entire folder)

(3) When you launch your game, go to the loadout screen and select the appropriate skin under paint scheme, and you are all set.

Mission editor, select the plane, select the load-out menu (marked by a stylized missile head-on), and in there you can find a drop-down menu.

You can also access this through the Mission Planner when starting a mission.

At the point in the Navigation Training Mission where the instructor gets around to having you fly to waypoint 4, he tells you that the flight plan course for this waypoint is 270, and to set the HSI as such.

How does he know this??? I can't seem to find anywhere in any of the CDU pages where the Flightplan Course Setting for each individual Waypoint is displayed. I know how to use the HSI, but I'm lost not knowing what course to set on it for the current steerpoint.

Any help?

IIRC it should be at the "Attributes" page.

Can you map the middle mouse button (on scroll-wheel)? Seems it's set up as a modifier. I sure would like to set it as 'Clickable Cockpit Toggle'.

Just to be sure, it isn't reserved for anything, is it? Mabe something I haven't come across yet as I've barely cracked the surface of this sim.

If it is reserved it should show as "used by" when you try to map it.

JTAC dont give me target assignment during the mission except instant actions.

So I must miss something, what is that? I got target assignment correctly in last ver.

I changed NET, GRPNET and OWNNET to 01 but nothing happened.

help me guys.

Concerning the middle mouse btn, removing it from the modifiers list still does not allow me to map it.

The problem is that with 'ALL' selected in the Actions List, the mouse (and Trackir) categories are grayed out(light blue) - so I can't select any fields for the mouse hence no chance to map it.

I wonder if this is so for everybody, or a glitch just in my system somewhere? Any feedback would be welcomed.

Thanks, slackerD... that really zeros in on the issue. Though I don't think I'm computer savy enough to get up into that mouse.lau file. I might try getting the btn to act as lalt c like they mentioned.

Game worked but now doesnt

when i first dl'd A-10 i could get the main screen to come up but would crash when I clicked fly. I fixed it by doing something in command prompt and flew a few times. Now I try to start it up and I hear the music and the screen goes black and it crashes before the main menu even pops up, whats the deal??

Posted

cody, I'd recommend posting a thread relating to this over here: http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=114

I assume the "doing something in command prompt" is the 3GB "hack" due to being on a 32-bit system. Could you include, in a thread on that section, the contents of your me.log and dcs.log (they're in the logs folder, either inside the install, in AppData, or SavedGames under your windows user account).

The crash data from windows would also be potentially helpful, directions here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=738777&postcount=4

For the menu, you'd be looking for crashes in Launcher.exe through that window.

Finally, have you verified that your Dx and C++ installs are healthy? You can reinstall them without ill effects through links provided in the FAQ: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=67747

Just epic!!

Hey folks,

Just purchased DCS A10c today after a day and a half day downloading..

Boot up, WOW!!!

Really impressed with the flight training feature and the A-10 is pretty much similar in startup to the Ka-50.. I'm just getting a hang of the manual (600+ pages, truly a study sim.. My favourite..)

However, I note that on takeoff, I keep getting the feel that the aircraft is stuck to the ground. I reached 180 knots and turned off the nosewheel steering feature, yet I couldnt get up. Also, I'm a fan of KA-50s trimmer system and this transition is proving difficult, specially with the trimmer mechanism which I cant get a hold of.If someone would explain it, even with the regular keyboard shortcuts, I'd be much appreciated.

Alas, I'm still early in the training stages, just finished the FAM and startup sequence. Worth mentioning that I found this startup pdf somewhere in google books, and dld it.

I recommend newbies do the same, as well as finish up the flight manual.

In the training mission (Takeoff and handling), I completed the instructors directions with the exception of the 360 turn, which If I'm correct, should be established once I'm back to bearing 040 true, but still cant get it done.

I downloaded the game files and burnt them to 2 dvds and to my surprise, the site mentions a 1.0.8 purchase, while the game I own is 1.0.0., maybe I should download the patch, which I think improves graphic handling since my laptop is ATI 5650 with over 1.5 gb shared memory, and this precludes the graphic requirement, yet its too slow on making a turn inside the cockpit with trackIR (not as smooth as Ka-50). Is there a graphic fix in the patch? Where do I read the changelog before I would download?

Really great work ED. :book: I bow down in respect to this work. Summer here in Egypt is indeed satisfied with beach and A-10c :D

Ok with regards to your takeoff. your rotation speed depending on load should be between 125 and 150 knots IAS. Make sure your flaps are set to take off (middle position).

Nose wheel steering should be switched off after +50 knots is achieved.

Did you press your take off trim button next to the SAS switches?

I generally ease back on my stick slightly to take the strain off the nose wheel after NWS is switched off.

If your still having problems please post a short track and we will possibly spot something you need to change or work on:)

Hope this helps

Discussing the STEER PT Dial in the EGI intro chapter(pg 172), it describes the FLT PLAN selection as being able to select the Flight plan WPs with the STEER PT Toggle (plus TAD conditions); the MARK selection as using the STEER PT Toggle to select created Mark points; and the MISSION selection allowing access to "the entire mission waypoint database".

Question: does "the entire mission waypoint database" then mean a combination of the Flight Plan WPs and all created Mark Points so that you can cycle through everything with one dial selection? Or does this mean something else? I know there are WPs which represent Airfields (and maybe other stuff too, I don't know) so I'm not sure what exactly MISSION will show.

I'm just wondering if, say, I want to fly to a flight plan WP one moment, then to a Mark point the next, and I'm gonna be switching back and forth, if I can just set the Dial to MISSION and be able to cycle them all?

Thanks.

Yes, all Way- and Markpoints would be available, but you won't have the "connected" picture of the flightplan.

That's why it might be useful (depending on a missions complexity) to work with different flightplans for different stages of the flight.

I for example use a seperate flightplan for my CCIP Mk-82 approaches. For a 45°DB approach it has an IP some 4-5 nm away from the target (heading according to my ingress plans), a Roll-In Point (1.7nm offset target, 90° left/right of my ingress path) and an Aim-Off Point (1.7nm off target, aligned with RIP and target). In the flightplan it will be 1 IP 2 RIP 3 AOP 4 IP. In Flight-Plan Mode your TAD will now draw a nice triangle, which is your planned bomb-pattern. Now add altitudes and appropriate DSMS settings (Z-Diagram) and make some perfect bomb-runs without getting lower than 4.700ft!

:)

Sorry for drifting slightly OT... just thought some might find it interesting...

Drift away, my friend... one can only learn from your experiance and knowledge - and that's a good thing. You do know, though, that there's smoke coming out of my ears right now trying to digest all that. :joystick: give me a month or two... :D

Thanks a bunch for the info! I do get the main drift of your answer.

Oh, btw, when you say I won't have the connected picture of the flight plan, do you mean that since the dial is not on flight plan, there will be no representation of it on the TAD?
