Rusty_M Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 That explains a lot. A very buggy experience would possibly have put me off. I didn't get it till Christmas (when I got the Empire & Napoleon bundle) so i missed out on all the bugs. Shogun 2 sounds great! It will be good to see some of the newer economies and things integrated into that very interesting period. The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine! http://www.twitch.tv/rusty_the_robot https://www.youtube.com/user/RustyRobotGaming
mavyalex Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Try Darthmod Ultimate Commander mod for Empire Toatal War 1.5!!! It is THE BEST add-on//mod (free of course) and battles and sounds are EPIC with many, many, many units to chose from.Naval battles are also very cool. I just don't like Siege battles because my soldiers can't climb walls with ropes (I don't know why). On http://www.twcenter.net "Always check your 6 o'clock if you want to live!"

genbrien Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 genbrien, I'm not sure why that happens to you. I usually played that one as England and had no problems doing crusades. (But then I got boned by the Mongol invasion after conquering most of the holy land. :P ) The key is to minimize travel time and only transport armies led by a crusading general. How do you do that? I mean they dont fly :music_whistling: Do you think that getting 9 women pregnant will get you a baby in 1 month?[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Mobo: Asus P8P67 deluxe Monitor: Lg 22'' 1920*1080 CPU: i7 2600k@ 4.8Ghz +Zalman CNPS9900 max Keyboard: Logitech G15 GPU:GTX 980 Strix Mouse: Sidewinder X8 PSU: Corsair TX750w Gaming Devices: Saytek X52, TrackIr5 RAM: Mushkin 2x4gb ddr3 9-9-9-24 @1600mhz Case: 690 SSD: Intel X25m 80gb
LordWolf Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Hmm, the thing i don't like about this game is that the saboteurs can only destory enemy key figues; They can't misguide or sabotage equipment/supplies :(

Succellus Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Well for me what killed Empire for me was the settings. I m not too found of people stupidly ranking one on front of each others and shooting, i mean, spray and praying without cover nor going prone. it goes beyond my intelect.... Second point is ... a country is basicly the same as the other which is the same as the other and so on. I bought Empire total war (goty or the like) and installed the darthmode. Well after a week i was feed up. Ai wasn t that bright, basicly same as Rome. Take a cavalry flank lure into your infantry, rince and repeat. Well i didn t bought napoleon for the same reason. I much prefer clash caos. My favorite is Rome, second Medieval 2. I loved Shogun fo the cenário, i really hope Shogun2 will shine. Assault on castle and many other features give it the potential to be the best. But is long gone the age i fall for any hype. Especially CA that promises each time a revolution and hardly deliver. (exept Rome). AI is ever the same since rome Naval battle where a sad joke, better block up and leave it to auto battle It seems Napoleon had some advance but i m not in the mood too waste my time seeing people line up like dummies and shoot at each others like someone shooting plastics ducks in a fair while praying not to be hit like a plastic duck in a fair. I dunno. From the customer relations side, ETW was utterly craptacular. It's plain that CA fell behind SEGA's development timeline and was forced to release ETW early, in as shoddy a state as I've ever seen a release version of a game. It took them well over 6 months to make the game playable without constant CTDs and then they tried to make good on what they weren't able to include in ETW by releasing NTW, which was being promoted before ETW was even stable. The lead developer even obliquely complained about what they were being forced to do in the development blog, as far as he could do so without getting fired. All that said, I agree, the AI is a joke, and CA acknowledges that, but they did add a MP element to try and make playing a little more worthwhile. And the naval battles are actually the one piece of the combat that really shines, IMHO. You can't just send your ships flying around the surface as if the wind doesn't exist. You actually have to plan your maneuvers and use somewhat realistic 18th century naval tactics, like raking your opponents stern. But even with all of ETW's flaws, it's still managed to suck me into 100s of hours of gameplay over the last few years. I'm still smarting from the customer service experience with ETW (I couldn't even get the game to start for 6 friggin' months!), but if Shogun is as promising as it looks, I may be ready to forgive and serve my fief :) EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming | i5 7600K 3.8 GHz | ASRock Z270 Pro4 | Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 16 GB | PNY CS2030 NVMe SSD 480 GB | WD Blue 7200 RPM 1TB HDD | Corsair Carbide 200R ATX Mid-Tower | Win 10 x64

EtherealN Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 How is it!?!? Am downloading now...1mb/s and its taking ages!! Can't wait :D Been playing it for a couple hours now, and in bullet point format: Very nicely designed. Whoever thinks ED did something weird with having the sea rendered under the terrain should check this game engine out... (Yes, the sea is rendered under the battle map terrain just like is the case in ED products.) The battle AI has impressed me so far, though I haven't given it a proper test. It does offer resistance though, even on normal difficulty. Pretty good tweaks to the strategic level economy stuff. The atmosphere is very well done. On the drawback side, the battle mechanics "feel" a bit much like a Medieval 2 re-made. That's not necessarily bad though. genbrien Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I played for 15 hours. 1st time played about 4 hours on normal, starting with the Chosokabe. Was only able to take 1 province, and by the time my whole army was out, I was attacked at my main province. Gave over... Started a second campagn, this time on easy with the Shimazu. Took all provinces from the far left off the map all the way to the center+Shikoku island. Was doing so good that the Shogun decided that it was enough, so I loose all my Vassals and allies(they all declaured war and take their ships with their armies and invaded my provinces on the left, wich were left with barely no troops) and got completely screwed....... The game is very fun to play, but much harder, I find, than Medieval2 Do you think that getting 9 women pregnant will get you a baby in 1 month?[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Mobo: Asus P8P67 deluxe Monitor: Lg 22'' 1920*1080 CPU: i7 2600k@ 4.8Ghz +Zalman CNPS9900 max Keyboard: Logitech G15 GPU:GTX 980 Strix Mouse: Sidewinder X8 PSU: Corsair TX750w Gaming Devices: Saytek X52, TrackIr5 RAM: Mushkin 2x4gb ddr3 9-9-9-24 @1600mhz Case: 690 SSD: Intel X25m 80gb
