Hi :

I was just wondering how most of you enable wheelbrakes. I have been using the clutch button and find it a good choice. Just curious what others are using.

I used shift (pinky) + trigger before I got pedals.

Clutch is my comms

I use toggle 6 as I can be hands off the joystick at that point and use the pedals and throttle. Don't recall what I used before I had the pedals.

Flaps / brakes / gear (as toggles) are all things I put on the toggle switches on the base of the stick. Usually it's like down for wheel brake, up for air brake, down for gear change, up for flaps change, etc.

For the same reason mentioned, that you can often use these things in non-critical hands-off situations (or at least, infrequently enough to be off the direct fingertips, but not too far out of reach as to be still left on the keyboard itself).

I also use the Modes for switching between 'weapons hot' (red) mode and 'nav' (blue) mode. Purple mode is my hybrid awareness settings in the middle that mix the two, so off hand and away from the stick I can't quite remember but I think I only have some of them active for these functions in Nav mode (no need to fiddle with gears when in a firefight).

Some very interesting setups. I find the clutch button good as I am on the throttle anyway during landing and taxi. I use the wheel on the throttle for airbrakes in and out. I use the C key for lock and unlock target. a and b are the a/a and a/g plus shift for radar, chaff and tws. trigger is cannon only. I have everything in mode 1. I fly the Eurofighter, go figure.(f-15) . Comms are all on VAC. It looks like everyone has their own preference but I am always open to ideas, that's why I asked. The main reason is I am now learning the A-10 so, some of the ways people use the program buttons is being very useful for setting up for A-10. Thanks to all and hope some more post their settings. Hope everyone is having a great Summer. cheers and thanks.

I actually use the trigger (1st stage) in mode 1. I only really fly the A10, and am pretty proud of the profile I made. I'd post it for people, but it requires a fair few control changes. It's a bit better than my FC1 profile which I should really change to match my FC2 profile (especially as I can't run FC2 properly until I upgrade my computer.)

Anybody got some x52 pro profiles for FC2?

Heh, yeah the SST can get in the way when it doesn't want to work. Also, I've noticed for some reason that it seems to sometimes use a lot of CPU cycles, especially after a mission.

It seems to me to be software that does a great job, but less than brilliantly

A universal profile GP

Mode one-nav/general flight controls

Mode two- everything needed 2 K some A

Once you figure it out, you should notice just how intuitive it is.

And it works 'Perfect' with FC2, absolutely no conflicts for me

Only time I've noticed SST using lots of CPU is when I had bands configured on one of the analog axes. Can't remember the exact details but you can workaround it by programming it in a slightly different way.

I tend not to use bands myself. I'm guessing it's something to do with the fact that if you're in a band, it acts as if you hold that key down, and the computer then registers repeated keystrokes. I suppose assigning a macro to the band that tells it to lift off the key would probably work better.

Sorry. I'm afraid I only use the vanilla x52 although my profiles are in .pr0 format, they can't be used with the X52 pro. I could, however, send a list of key commands I have set up for each switch on the stick, although it, of course, does mean keying everything in yourself.

It could still be helpful to users of other Saitek controller types:
