VMFA117_Poko Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Me, me, me, me, me!!! That arcade will be fun .
joey45 Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 nice looking console port. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. 104th_Crunch Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I am thinking it will be more sim than Dirt (uses same engine) but less than rFactor. I know it won't be a full blown Simulator, but I hope it's closer to sim than arcade! I also hope it has good force feedback and Trackir support as well. They are going to patch the PC version to DX11 after release and you can edit some files to force DX11 on release. http://www.virtualr.net/category/f1-2010/
joey45 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 If it uses the same engine as Dirt then I doubt it'll be balanced for TIR. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Grimes Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Yep it uses the same game engine as Dirt 2. I'm not sure how much of it is a sim and how much of it is uber realism. Obviously its gonna be heavily scalable. So it can be played as an arcade game, but I'm hoping there are plenty of realistic settings to make it feel real. bumfire Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I would like to say yes, but however much I love F1, every single F1 game I have, I am total shit at it. Seriously, the first semi bad corner I come to I seem to get wasted. I am lucky if I can do 1 good lap with a good time and without crashing or damaging the car, if I can do one, rest assured there wont be a 2nd lap like that. I just cannot seem to get into the groove when it comes to F1 car games. That being said, I am great at other car games, like Gran Turismo's, Dirt, TOCA etc, I seriously am pretty good at them if I say so myself, which makes it even stranger to figure out why, for the life of me I ALWAYS get raped when it comes to F1 games... 1
joey45 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I'm not to keen on F1. Touring, Rally yes but im the same as bumfire, F1 is a ripeout. 1 The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. 104th_Crunch Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Well, overall disappointed with it, but maybe in the future if it is modded, It could be better. The only really great thing about it are the graphics, but I also mean the realism of the graphics as well as the track detail, which is important for a racing sim. Problem is, my Core Duo at 3.6 and my GTX 280 only get ~45 fps with everything on low and 35 with everything on high. In a racing sim I need 60 fps. TrackIR is supported under the Dirt2 profile and is works very good. Force Feedback is solid but has no reaction to tire slip, probably because there is basically no tire slip modelled. Take a corner at full rev in 1st gear and crank the wheel and you will be hard pressed to spin out. There is too much grip even if you set aero to low down force. After years of rFactor and GTR Evo, it just feels simple and wrong. There are worse racers in terms of handling though. Like I said, maybe a mod to adjust handling and it would be much better. Also, a way to turn off bloom and maybe the expected DX11 patch will give more FPS on older systems. GTR for some reason has a known glitch with flashing graphics and Nvidia cards, so I think I will look at the latest F1 mods for rFactor again, until things possibly change with F1 2010. lol thread has 9 views. No big race fan in here I see.

diveplane Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 not really into f1 racing, love to see a gtr type game like this though. herd simbin are working on a new pc based gtr racer again cant wait those guys are good. this time its a complete new race game engine. https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
joey45 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I very doubt they'll be any mods. Dragon Rising was made with the EGO engine [nice name] which is also what Dirt 2 was made with. If you can't mod DR then I very much doubt you can mod F1. It simple because its a Console sim. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Grimes Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 How are the races and the AI? The last F1 game I played (F1 Wold Championship Edition) on PS3 had some decent AI but they still had some batshit insane programing. Honestly there were parts of the track where they could always drive faster than you, no matter how well you took a corner, however there were some corners where they took the corner all wrong and always gave the player the advantage. 2IAE-CrashBG Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Even though i still like rFactor, I enjoy this game very much, it's real fun, even though it's not real. The AI is weak by my opinion, how could a Virgin car qualify 9th lol on maximum difficulty. [sIGPIC]http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e381/46crash/crahshig.png[/sIGPIC] Bulgarian DCS Community

I'm a big fan of F1 and have had this on pre-order for a few months now. I like to have an alternative to sims that I can just pick up and play, instantly, every once in a while. Even if I am the worlds crappest F1 driver! I think it is released tomorrow in the UK, so looking forward to seeing what it's like.
trigen Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Used to have the groove issue myself cause i always wanted to push it, once i calmed down and started driving real safe my lap times and driving improved a lot. No point driving on the edge if you cant stay on the track, nice and easy and you'll drive faster than you ever have. F1 95% mental Looking forward to trying this game 1080 ti, i7700k 5ghz, 16gb 3600 cl14 ddr4 oc
VMFA117_Poko Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) Short and to the point :) Hold on, you're not alone here. I am a huge racing fan. I'm not thinking about F1 as a pure sport - it's more like companies competition in technology developement. I love those politics, scandals, etc. I don't like rally at all - it seems completely boring imho. It's ripped off of this whole climate which is most important to me. So, we're split into different groups here - F1 to rally is like comparing A2A with A2G... Edited September 23, 2010 by Poko24
joey45 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 and touring is multirole. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. 2IAE-CrashBG Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 and touring is multirole. Hehe :D Personally I think that in order to like motorsports you need to understand them, i love both rally and track disciplines myself and i believe i understand them both quite well, and as Poko24 said they are really different. mikoyan Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 I used to love formula one; but got totally tired of the manipulative and dirty side of f-1. Things like letting your team mate pass you just because he is a bit faster than you; and has more points than you totally ruin the sport. The Renault incident and Mclaren espionage are clear examples of how unethical formula 1 has become. F1 is supposed to be a competition not a personality contest; Ayrton Senna said before; if you are not willing to fight for the first place; don't compete. I also got tired of x driver get the pole; x driver wins if he doesn't make a bad mistake since he's got the bets car. Got tired of watching pit-crews win positions instead of the drivers. Got tired of drivers not fighting for the fist place since it is to risky to pass the guy in front. Monaco is cool but it is almost impossible to see passings if you don't have crazy people like the old school drivers. A lot of people consider f-1 drivers the best drivers in the world; to me this is not 100% true; I would rather see crazy rally drivers beat the crap out of their cars without even knowing the road, that to me is much more exiting impressive than f-1. 2
Kuky Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 (edited) I've been playing F1 few years back and have done some rFactor also and I think F1 driving is one of the most demanding sports ever as you need to be on your 100% concentration all of the time... and that is really really tiring and exausting and not everyone can do it. I want to be good at anything I do and this is no different and because it is so hard to be good I don't stick to it for long (I hate when I suck at something so I just leave it :D) About this F1 2010 the graphics are really amaising but having seen some videos I doubt physics are modeled well at all.. and my first assumption that it would be like that is because it will be available for Playstationa nd Xbox. I lik rFactor because it is closer to reality and you have to drive as such... you need to know how a real car can handle the road in order to be any good. 159th_Viper Posted September 25, 2010 Author Posted September 25, 2010 As an aside and a stupid question to boot, but how does one get rid of the 'Menu Bar' on the top of the screen?
