Slayer Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Anyone else having an issue where the MFD's turn off then back on? They are disconnecting from the USB because I can hear the the USB plugin sound from Windows when I'm in a game. This happens even when I'm just on the desktop doing nothing. No rime or reason just randomly turns either one off then back on. I tried disabling the " allow windows to put to sleep to conserve power" option in device manager for the hub they are attached to and also checked the power draw on the USB hub in device manager and they are not over the limit (powered hub) I read of other users with this problem and TM tech support is useless..... slowhand Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Slayer, Have you tried another USB port in your hub? Do you have another hub that you can try?It sounds like a power short. Your USB Hub may not have the juice to run what ever you have pluged in? How long have you had them? Are they still covered by TM? Oh and I feel ya on the TM tech support..like tits on a Bull..lots of luck.I hope that helps..5X5 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] SMOKE'M:smoke: IF YA GOT'M!:gun_rifle: H2o Cooler I7 9700k GA 390x MB Win 10 pro Evga RTX 2070 8Gig DD5 32 Gig Corsair Vengence, 2T SSD. Kuky Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I haven't had this happen yet and I've had TM MFD's for few months now, this could maybe be due to USB ports being on their voltage limit or PSU or MB not being able to handle all the USB devices... do you have all the USB ports used up? No longer active in DCS...
coolts Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 (edited) Its 99% a hub power problem. Check the hub power draw in device manager. They put out 500mA each. My TrackIR sometimes won’t start and I have to unplug/plug to get it to kick in. It’s annoying. Distributing devices to different USB controllers helped, but Track IR sometimes sleeps. (Here you see my overloaded port. Each MFD is called "HID Compliant..." and draws 250mA) Also, when my PC comes out of standby the USB port on the CH pedals stays down and needs to be unplugged. Slayer Posted September 30, 2010 Author Posted September 30, 2010 I have a 900watt PSU and have them plugged into my monitor which has a self powered USB 2.0 hub. The cords are too short to plug into the back of the PC. Device manager says each hub port has 500 miliamps available. maybe I'll have to get some extensions and try different ports on the back of the PC. USB 2.0 is supposed to have more power available thats why I'm stumped...... jerda Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 i had the same problem with my hub. I got some extensions, plugged it in the back of the pc, and they both stay on now. Good luck.
mr_mojo97 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Sorry to bring up an old thread. Ive been having this issue wityh my mfds since updating to Windows 10 (never had a single issue with Windows 7). Every now and then, I'd unplug then plug them b ack in and all would be right in the world then a couple of weeks ago they they just stopped responding - connect reconnect thing. I've tried all ports including powered hub ports, tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, I've even just bought some new ones today and they do exactly the same thing (and I've tried them in all ports etc). Tearing my hair out now. Any ideas anyone please? txmtb Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 You need to perform a little registry hack and it should fix you up. Check out post 31 in this thread for a link and the VID/PID ID's. ebenitez Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I had a very similar problem with my MFD Cougar pack, but it arose when I upgraded to windows 10, and had to wait untill Thrustmaster released a patch to fix it. john9001 Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 I have the some in/out problem, when I just had one plugged in everything was OK for a week but after I plugged in the second one tonight and I was flying I would hear a thump noise and the plane would go out of control. I will try the update.
hansangb Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 Make sure you check your controls setup. You may find that axis has been assigned to the MFD causing the plane to go out of control hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
john9001 Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 That's what happened, when I plugged in the second unit it assigned itself to the axis controls. The cutting in and out has seemed to have also stopped, do you think having two "controllers" linked to the same commands could have caused the cutting in and out?
Mars Exulte Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 I just recently solved a similar issue. Some may know I have a crapload of USB peripherals, and sometimes some of them would shut off for no apparent. Other times, some of them wouldn't load when I would turn on the PC. Miscellaneous other issues. Here's what I ended up doing to fix it. Windows has USB power settings SEPARATE from the stuff under "power management" (all that eco-friendly power saving shit... I'm from Texas. We don't like no trees and things) ANYWAY Go to Device Manager, scroll down to "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" and go through your item properties one by one, look for the "Power Management" tab. There's a setting "allow computer to turn off device to save power" make sure that is NOT checked. Make sure you check ALL the devices in that category, because there's apt to be more than one. I think I have four or five in total, but I have 20 devices and two USB motherboard extensions, so most people probably have less. john9001 Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Zhukov, good tip, in device mgr all the "power save" boxes were checked. they were in two different places so I had to look at for them.
