Nightcargo Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Been reading many posts about this subject. Many people seem to be having issues. Anyone have MFD's working reliably? Which ones? Mimo 7"? Samsung U70? Someone stated the Mimo failed because of the 3d rendering of the A10 MFD. Was it just a bad monitor or can these things really not cope? shu77 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 To be honest, once I have time to play with the config file I'm planning to overlay my Cougars on my spare 19" screen so that the MFD's fit in there. This has the added benefit of allowing the extra screen real estate for Teamspeak and a background map graphic. Sarge55 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I've been reading and wondering as well, especially as they aren't cheap. I'll probably go the route Shu77 is thinking especially as there's bound to be a virtual panel for WH coming out soon. The mimo's cost me a ton! I've been waiting to get feedback on these. Maybee I should just play it safe and get 2-8" ones with the DVI port instead. But for that kind of money I could just buy an el cheapo 19" and make a cardboard mask to cover the parts I dont want to see. I guess we will all see once a new beta comes out and people with the hardware already can be the test subjects :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] System Specs Intel I7-3930K, Asrock EXTREME9, EVGA TITAN, Mushkin Chronos SSD, 16GB G.SKILL Ripjaws Z series 2133, TM Warthog and MFD's, Saitek Proflight Combat pedals, TrackIR 5 + TrackClip PRO, Windows 7 x64, 3-Asus VS2248H-P monitors, Thermaltake Level 10 GT, Obutto cockpit

Deadman Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 it depends on if you want a realistic main instrument panel or a card board cut out over the bigger monitor. Personaly i will wait for those that have purchased all ready the smaller usb monitors and see if it all works out, or if i have to learn how to cut an LCD monitor to make it work. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
shu77 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Thats perhaps the difference I think, I'm not planning to build a Home cockpit, I just want the MFCD's to be a little easier to read and to line up with my Cougar. Getting a TS window on screen and a map is more important to me than instruments at this point as I can get them from the sim. Nightcargo Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Digital_Steve, Plug them in and see what happens. Do we need leavu or some MFD extractor to work with the DCS series? Asus Rampage II i7 920 @ 3.8 EVGA580GTX 6G Corsair WinVista64 Hog
71st_Mastiff Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Digital_Steve, Plug them in and see what happens. Do we need leavu or some MFD extractor to work with the DCS series? no windows 7 and vista has a displaylink SW program thats PnP. in DCS make changes in the .lua option.lua and monitorsetp folder, to make fit and work. no extractor programs need i.e. falcon4 af. Nightcargo Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Mastiff where did you get the Lilliputs? The Samsung U70's are hard to find in the US, and I've read of some people having issues with the Mimo's. Do you have pics of your install? 71st_Mastiff Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 That's awesome! Did you install the MFD's around the Lilliput's? I read a review on the Lilliputs and they come with 2 USB plugs. Do you have to plug both in? yes both need to be plugged in due to the fact there is a built in video chip in the lcd's. not yet, waiting for them to put out the beta update and then well see if I can get the proper resolution for 4:3 7 inch. as the Cougar MFD's are 5 1/2 " . and the lilliputs ar 3 5/8" viewable width and 7 " diag. 6" length, so theres a big gap. dooom Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 i am amazed that TM never struck forth with producing the MFDv2.0. They abviously understand and appreciate the $$ this niche market spends on product - especially controllers such as the Warthog and Cougar. Why not take the MFD system they have and produce a set with a proper sized monitor attached? Slayer Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I read a post from TM that said it would have been too much of a niche product they weren't sure it would sell well and then there was the issue of trying to make it compatible across multiple games like Falcon, DCS and FSX and any other future sims. They were just looking to make a low cost product that had the capability to be used by non-enthusiast as well has hardcore cockpit guys. I don't say as I blame them. Flight sim people are a vicious and picky lot. It would have been a huge gamble for a little return. Maybe they will rethink this after DCS:A-10C releases if it sells well...
