I've managed to neutralise the SAM's, AA, Troops and APCs and stop the T72's. As well as call the F-15's in to get rid of the SU-25's.

The UH-60's are then able to go to the pilots location without any issues. The pilot moves down the slope for a pick up. However, the UH-60's will not land and pick up the pilot, it looks like because he remains on a slight slope, they cannot land there. They just hover, move off, retry, hover, mover off, retry ad infinitum until what looks like a fuel shortage causes them to break off and RTB.

Apart from that, it all works out fine, its an interesting one. :megalol:

TGP stands for TarGeting Pod

:smartass: Use the TGP that's what it's designed for...Since Beta4 TGP is no longer affected by haze so it works on laaarge distances.

Switch to BHOT or WHOT to spot, then use CCD Camera to identify, laser to get the range, then mark as SPI.

Now you can slew Mavericks to the SPI and finish them off :D

P.S. Have a look at Tyger's instruction vids that helps a lot...

Thanks Shagrat. The trouble is I've been using the TGP and I still can't find them!

I'll keep plugging away at it, I'm obviously looking in the wrong place.

Just try hitting active pause and take your time until you are familiar with the slew, view-angle and zoom controls.

Zoom out(!) when you search. Switch view-angle before zooming in if you guess you have a target... ah and, yes the 512, 1024 every frame settings give a better performance on the TGP and MAV but also a hit on the framerate (can't have it all) :music_whistling:

Also often buildings and trees obscure the view (especially in active pause).

Like in real life you may have to circle or change course when doing AFAC or CSAR and your prime goal is to spot any enemy activity.

Direct Targets to your fellow wingmen, concentrate on prioristion of targets before running in.

Bad idea to go tank hunting when SA-9 or his little brother AAA is still out to play cat and mice... I learned the hard way

I think this mission alone may give me my money's worth in hours of play!

I've got a little better - I spotted 3 AA guns last time, but still struggled to find infantry with the TGP. That poor pilot has died five times this week...

Woohoo! Finally completed the mission, pilot rescued and everything! Except my wingie didn't make it, but war is hell and all.

The mission has a teeny bug - when the UH60's rescue the pilot that seems to trigger the 'pilot dead' event and you get a message saying enemy forces got him, after that though you get confirmation from Sandy that all is well.

That is still one of my favourite missions.

I still get a buzz from the SAR pickup (even though he's pronounced dead on arrival). Probably comes from my days in the CSAR community.

Great mission and with the mixed AAA and SAM threats hidden around the town and the ability to try out Maverick, LGB and JDAM I think its the perfect mix with just the right mix of threat environment. Just enough other assets to give some Radio training too with the UH60's and F15's.

I'm still noticing some issues with this mission. I've flown it about 5 - 8 times now and I have yet to have a successful completion. Been shot down a couple of times, but it seems there is some issue with the way sandy is supposed to 'rescue' the pilot.

If I don't find the troops heading up the hill from the east, the pilot armed with an M16 simply shoots them. I've had this happen 3 times and my pilot has yet to die in any of the missions I've flown. He just crouches when the troops attack him and shoots at them. The other times where I have found the troops and taken them out with the GAU, and taken out the SAMs and AAA, I then call in Sandy.

Sandy doesn't seem to be able to land though and the pilot does not move. I can see Sandy trying to land but then eventually giving up and leaving.

Where things get silly from here is that I called sandy in after cleaning up the threats, a few minutes after I thought the pilot was rescued I got a message saying "thanks for the help, we'll take it from here". Yet, when I checked the mission status I still had 0% completed and I visually confirmed that the pilot was still on the ground.

So is the pilot supposed to move to the landing area or is sandy supposed to land next to the pilot ?

I like this mission a lot, I think it has some really cool elements to it, good tension and is mostly fun, but I can't seem to get it completed and I think there is a bug with the rescue trigger.

BUG

After i cleared out all threats, i called in Sandy and the UH 60 picks up the pilot as planned. After Sandy gives the message "We got it from here now " or something along those regards the rescue chopper proceeds towards base however takes an awkward path where it tries to climb a steep mountain slope at an angle which eventually cause it to crash and fail the mission.

Is this a known bug?

How can I contact F-15s to get those freaking MiG-29s out of me? My flight managed to take out the first pair of them, but I have no chance to defend against the new wave.

Same exact issue here. What to do to keep the heli's from crashing?

PS: Sorry for copy and paste^^

Is there a solution?

I edited the Choppers route of flight to take it back the way it came from and moved the "Safe Zone" to a point it wont cross until AFTER they rescue the pilot.

I got the pilot rescued safely.

However has anyone noticed that there's two hidden Hinds that never come into play because their trigger is set up wrong.

If you unhide everything in editor, they are listed as THRT 4 at Beslan and are supposed to be triggered when the coalition moves into the THRT 4 trigger zone. Instead they have been set up to be triggered when they themselves enter that zone, which they never do because they're not triggered and therefore don't exist.:)

Hind bullet tracers also appear green on replays.

If the telegraph pole takes off after you, it is not a telegraph pole.
