I totally agree. However, most consider these as too hollywood.

Imagine these graphic effects in the damage model...explosion FX

ExplosiveFX_MOD_V1.jpg

that would be awsome if you see these effects and vehicles going up in flames and popping up on the explosion.

I have to sort of agree. As much time and effort that was spent on the actual simulation aspect of the product, I don't get a sense of satisfaction with the actual ordinance contacting objects.

Call me spoiled but some other games out there has gotten us used to at least seeing maybe a tank's top half fly up into the ground, twisted metal flying. Buildings half broken.

The whole crater effect is nice. The rising smoke is nice.

But the actual destruction is not very satisfying.

In real life there were always secondaries as well, and fires.

Other than the avionics, and performance the last thing they need to improve before release would be the actual damage modeling of targets.

Its like making a beautiful cake and then putting a piece of shit on the top.. Kinda ruins the experience.

Then work on dynamic campaigns :) :) :) I would pay $100 for a sim that had all of that with cutting edge graphics and ran well.

Yup.

Q:What explodes like that?

A:A BLADDER tank filled with gasoline or a pond of gasoline. Nothing else.

Ya That's why it says WIP. Yes there is to much fire in the texture. The point is the smoke and explosions are 1990's for me in this game. The GAU in this game doesnt even produce dust.

Proper Explosions and a pyshic engine should be definitely on the list.

There is nothing more satisfying for me than seeing a tank explosion with my fire.

pyshic engine

What do you think is rendering all the flight dynamics and bullet/missile trajectories? :)

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Come let's eat grandpa!

Use punctuation, save lives!

Well Ok than

In real life when you hit a tank by Maverick (Not a direct hit but somewhere in the radius) would it start to burn slowly ? :)

In that case I support your further work all the way. I just wouldn't like to see anyone spending his time doing nice (instead of proper=realistic) effects. Don't hesitate to drop an update

He meant physics driven graphical effects, smartass :sly:

Depends on the tank and the maverick version in question ;)

Physics aside IMO ED doesn't use primitive methods available to a proper degree. RANDOM function for example. I'm not good enough to participate in game coding but I do know that every programming language ever created and used has that function :P Now look at the (beautiful, non the less) image below (by Mustang) and try to figure out how would one put that function into use.

screen110308040240.jpg

Exercise no 2 - recall how destroyed targets behave in DCS and think about that golden function again :)

How about saying things plainly? :D

Are you talking about vehicles stopping dead when destroyed?

Water look weird, like it was flood there outside of river's banks (channel).

That too :)

I meant mainly repetitive chimney smokes (their intensity). Pretty eye catching. Vehicle smoke intensity - second (some should barely smoke). But the biggest pooper is killed vehicles smoking for X seconds and exploding after Y seconds. Some should not explode at all. I can only guess that making them behave in other manner instead of stopping when dead, what you mentioned, would be harder to alter than to use of RND in various places, where applicable.

That said IMO this (proper haze/fog)

screen110224012146.jpg

and this (no transparent objects in targeting displays)

TGP_preview.jpg

make up for all the graphical flaws I can think of! Also the change from this (3D model)

img_id978.jpg

to this

Mi-8MT.jpg

shows that ED does shoot out party poopers. It just does it at its own pace :smilewink:

:P

My list of top effects to change:

- comprehensive work on sky color

- vehicle explosion animation

- vehicle explosion timing

- cumulus clouds (shape, color, size - everything)

- dynamic in-cockpit shadows

Good ideas, simple but make the world more credible.

Better Rain Effect

Can we please steal the Rain effect that Rise of Flight has? :)

It's time we saw water droplets streaking across our canopy!

The inclusion of this effect in RoF had zero impact on performance too.

The current precipitation effects in DCS really arnt doing it for me any more, especially after a session of RoF. :)

Just an update to the whole weather engine... all around... would be nice.

If you follow the recent Yo-Yo's posts you'll know that work is already in progress and what has been done so far has been incorporated into DCS W. And working ;) A legitimate guess would be that ED will work on clouds and precipitation looks for the purpose of underlying weather engine and not just for the sake of looks/earlier.

I vote for dynamic shadows in the cockpit (like in Cliffs of Dover)... :)

edit: Oh, and rain drops effect on the canopy too. (BTW just cosmetic and maybe heavy after processing for the GPU)

I agree. Adding a random element to the visuals, timing and way vechiles end their days would add to the immersion.

I was staring at your screen shot for 10 minutes trying to figure out what the stuff that you added was. lol i can finally see it, River Banks and some stick men playing volly ball n stuff.

Ya agree it does look kind of goofy how the water is just laying on the ground with nothing holding it there.
