JeTTs Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 I just updated to the new drivers, I went in and flew around first, had smoke on and fired bullets into the ground etc... After the new drivers were installed, I did the same thing. I just didn't see much of a difference if any at all, but that is just me and my system specs. This is with my normal graphic settings of medium, plus scenes on high, I have to have all those trees, and water on high. 38 FPS sitting on the runnway..... I did howerver notice an improvment in FPS when setting my graphic settings to high, plus heat blur..... 32 FPS sitting on the runway, the lowest frames I got was when firing my gun, smoke on, and firing flares at the same time. It drop to 18-22 FPS. I never got a crash from using advanced haze. I was not sure before, but what the hell I will try them.... Aint got nothing to loose,,..... S!
Kevler Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I'm still suffering from the random reboots, even with Haze to basic :(
ztrl Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Could be your other hardware causing crashes too. My soundcard (terratec x-fire 1024) crashes my comp quite often. Im too lazy to do anything about it.

Sometimes when I check the readme for the driver you only see updates or changes for newer highend graphics cards and nothing for the older ones. So continously installing these updates could result in no changes at all.
169th_Moose Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=2300&s=1 a look on different drivers out there, benchmark scores and so forth, Seems the DNA Force 1.3.744 Unofficial Drivers are the best drivers around for the moment, they have taken the crown on performance and quality on this site. Remains to be seen with lomac, Have not tried them yet. Will keep you posted. :D oups I had pasted the wrong link, I've pasted the conclusion, its rectified, lol
169th_Moose Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Yep, theses one are verry verry good, :p Plus more tweaking features, within your display properties. http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1067 http://www.dna-drivers.com/page.php?id=12 Windows 2000/XP (Modified ForceWare drivers) These are modified NVIDIA ForceWare drivers for Windows 2000 & XP. Modified drivers simply means that the author takes official or beta drivers from the manufacturer and starts to tweak them for either better image quality and or performance. Please bare in mind that the driver manufacturer, in this case NVIDIA, does not support drivers like these. You use them at your own risk. For more information and dialog about these drivers I suggest you visit our forums where a dedicated section can be found on modified drivers. VERSION:: DNA-Force 1.3.7644 * Based on the ForceWare 76.44 Release * Fixed some minor install options
169th_Moose Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 ok, just tried the 77.13 version. There are awesome too. Compared to the version above, not much difference in performance, the DNA-Force 1.3.7644 does have more tweaking option in the display settings, AGP settings, overclocking settings, a couple more. the DNA-Force 1.3.7644 minus is the booting process of the pc, they seemed to take more juice out my pc, Im switching back to 76.45, they seemed to give more eye candy with performance. Cheers
KuostA Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Great link Moose...very informative. The results are definite. Also, Over at Ubi, the responses are very positive for those who actually have tried it with LOMAC. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x/a/tpc/f/38610606/m/4681046723 I'll be checking out the DNA 1.3.7644's and these 77.13's.
coldcrew Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Anyone know what's with the weird driver versions? On the nvidia site is shows 71.89(april 4, 05) but the 76.44 I got on 3dguru is march 30,2005
Kenan Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Forceware drivers do not offer much of an improvement. Maybe for some specific video cards but for most, there is no real advantage over the previous releases. golfsierra2 Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 I'm still suffering from the random reboots, even with Haze to basic :( Are you sure your power supply is good enough to feed your hungry grafix card ? This may cause your reboots as the PS voltages decrease below working limits on other lines for other parts of your PC. Just guessing.... kind regards, Raven.... S77th-GOYA Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Anyone know what's with the weird driver versions? On the nvidia site is shows 71.89(april 4, 05) but the 76.44 I got on 3dguru is march 30,2005 the 76.44's are probably betas. It takes a while for the final releases. IMO, the betas are always better.
mikoriad Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 Just a quick thing to test out if you 're getting random reboots and CTD's. I was getting them for a while and tried everything. Every fix possible, I tried everyhting, down to replacing the power supply. After a month of fighting through CTD's and crashes I finally found a fix that worked.... I took my gfx card out, cleaned all the dust off it and cleaned the whole motherboard with a vacume (make sure your grounded befor you do that). I also used a pencil eraser to clean the GFX card edge the goes into the mobo. When the cleaning was done 10 minutes later, all problems were fixed. I have not had a crash since then, not ONE!! Such a simple fix, give it a try people, it just might work!! Althlon X2 6400+ 3.2 ghz EVGA 8800GT SC - 512mb X-45 MOMO pedals
51GRIZZLY Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 After trying about 10 different Forcevare drivers for my 6800 i got stuck to the 76.50 from 3D guru and i'm gonna roll with it till the wheels fall off :)
