Shaman Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 (edited) That is why I always liked BF 2142 the best out of all of them. I wish BF 2143 was being made instead of BF3! Looking forward to the Tribes game being worked on. Wow, Crunch. This is exactly the same reason why I have found BF 2142 the best of all BF games! I haven't found BF2 interesting to me at all. However I had quite a lot of fun with BFBC2. Now I am getting CRYSIS2 instead of another "modern military shooter", because I am sick of theme. I will take a look at BF3 once it is beta or demo around end of 2011. If BF 2143 was made on such engine... oh man ^^ Edited March 17, 2011 by Shaman 1 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer

Grimes Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 Looks pretty epic, although the last video seemed to be more "CODISH" than the previous ones. But alas, this is not a game that we will play for singleplayer. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. delta9856 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I just picked up Bad Company 2 so I could play it on Xbox Live and it is definitely a nice break from MW2. Hopefully Battlefield 3 will be more focused on skill than COD otherwise I will probably only rent it :/ Oli 'Scarecrow' Lusk Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Intel Core i7 3930K @ 4.20Ghz ASUS Rampage IV Extreme Motherboard 16GB DDR3 RAM EVGA Geforce GTX 680 4GB

71st_Mastiff Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 LOL hahahhahaha LOL so true! Mindless FPS's lately! I think I'll put out a cheap indy game like that and make millions. "any failure you meet, is never a defeat; merely a set up for a greater come back", W Forbes. USAF77 Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 did they just reintroduce jets? now im excited. I wouldnt get to excited until we see the final product. If the Jets are well done, modeled well and accuratly, then all to the good. However I get the feeling they will be more of an afterthought then a serious sim fighter. Sort of like Helicopters are now in BC2. Fly and throw away choppers tht you fly and fight with a few mouse strokes and clicks. I was never able to get the game to see my X-52 and the work around makes flying with a stick jerky and not worth the effort. I hope Im wrong but I have found not to expect to much from all the noise. There is the disaster that is Cliffs of Dover and Even BC2 has lost much of its shine for me, and thats probably the best of the current shooters. After flying a mission in A-10c its kind of painful to deal with the hokey gun ballistics of BC2. A-10c has raised the Bar for both flight and shoot combat games. If they took BF3 and moved it closer to an ARMA type sim, but retained the features that make BC2 such a good game too, then I'll be happy with it. A-10c has been a breath of fresh air for me in a flight genre that is clearly suffering of late. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Lead, Follow, or get out of the way"

It's supposed to be an arcade action game, but maybe with some more "realistic" features than Battlefield 2. They're making a game to improve on their OWN games, not to look at what the competition has released. :) Im guessing the jets (and the choppers) will behave pretty much the same way they did in BF 2, but maybe a little bit more realism thrown in, for good measure. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page

Grimes Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 It will be interesting how they integrate air combat into the mix. Hopefully they will pay more attention to it and apply decent fixes to it unlike they did in BF2. I also suspect aircraft will only be on the conquest mode maps. Hopefully they will pay more attention to it and apply decent fixes to it unlike they did in BF2. I also suspect aircraft will only be on the conquest mode maps. As long as they don't overpower aircraft like in BF2 or BC2, I'll be happy with anything they come up with. I'd at least vote for a needed landing to rearm your jet... I also wouldn't mind a helo that takes less than 3 direct hits with a 120mm gun to at least scare it away... Grimes Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 Were they that bad in BC2? I honestly don't remember because they never felt like a large part of the game. I can't think of a single map that had more than 2 aircraft at a time on it. But the few times I did see a pair of players dominate with an attack chopper it just didn't feel like the same type of domination that was seen in BF2. Feuerfalke Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Depends on when you played BC2. When it was released, you at least had a chance to kill a helo with a tracer and a Anti-Tank-rocket. Now the helo reloads chaffs to remove this tracer faster than the guy on the ground can lock on or even reload the tracer. No chance to lock up unless you really team together with 3 or 4 people. Sure, possible still, but if you have to group up with 3 or 4 players to kill a single guy in a helo, expecially in such a basic-realism game as BC2, there's something gone seriously wrong. 104th_Crunch Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 It's all about balance over realism unfortunately. The balance should come from mission layout, not how a particular object is simulated, but this is no sim anyway.

But the few times I did see a pair of players dominate with an attack chopper it just didn't feel like the same type of domination that was seen in BF2. They really arent that large a part of the game. You have to crew them first of all, assuming you can get one to begin with. You can fly ithem alone but you are pretty much limited to rockets alone. THEN your pretty much flying against other helicopters and are lucky to get much time against ground targets, which is what combat rotaries are supposed to be for. So it all ends up with them being a fairly small part of the game. Personally I dont bother with them. You're kinda missing the point with Battlefield 3. It's supposed to be an arcade action game, but maybe with some more "realistic" features than Battlefield 2 Sounds pretty much what I said so I dont know what "point" Im missing. Grimes Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 I always thought it was just better to use a AAA emplacement or a vehicle rather than rely on tracer rounds. Even getting 2+ medics to shoot with their LMGs did some damage. Besides, if you could reliably hit an aircraft with a tracer (which I found difficult) why not just carry the extra rocket ammo and use whichever rocket launcher you are using instead. Both of the unguided rockets had similar trajectories of the tracer, but different velocities, so its more of an adjustment of timing. joey45 Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 ^^ indeed. It is a great arcade shooter. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Buckram Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Battlefield 3 is an excellent game. And it deserves a chance just like any other good game.
