Nate--IRL-- Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I am still having the left roll/left yaw issue with my CH rudder pedals. Also on the X 52 the slider is still being assigned to the throttle assignment. Looks like if I want actual rudder pedals I have to buy a new set? That is sad because this is the only sim this happens in. I am impressed with the program overall, but not the release version. I have been a professional software tester for years and this seems more like another beta to me (since there are still crashes, video tears, control issues, etc). This is just my professional opinion, personally I will still have fun despite these issues. I like the new features, but would have liked to have a beta/release candidate version with these changes where they could have been tested. Different companies/different release procedures. Have you tried reassigning the AXIS for your pedals in the options? Should take 2 seconds to fix. As for the other issues if you need specific help just ask. tankaviator Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Have you tried reassigning the AXIS for your pedals in the options? Should take 2 seconds to fix. As for the other issues if you need specific help just ask. Nate I did remap, a few times. The only way I can get it to work is to delete the pedals, assign rudder to X 52, fly one flight, then remap the pedals back. This will work for a while, then the roll/yaw comes back. I can always tell when it happens because the HUD ladder will slide right (because my "head" moves out of position from a side force). I have seen this complaint a few times on the forums, just sad that it didn't get fixed. The other issues are minor, but aircraft control should be a high priority. Nate--IRL-- Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Sound like something is reassigning the USB ID of the pedals in windows, start a thread in DCS Problems section and we'll get to the bottom of it. WynnTTr Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 No matter what they do, release it now or have betas until next year then release someone is going to have a problem with it - then blame it on ED citing that it's not ready. Funny that the game works wonderfully well for the greater majority of users without issues. Perhaps try to work out your own problems first then come post on the forums. Cos if the problem is really at your end it makes you look like sort of like an ass. Case in point the guy complaining about how the laser would only work in manual mode or people complaining that it's buggy when they've got less than the minimum requirements. To those with problems - fine, post it in the relevant forum and I'm sure it'll be addressed soon. Nate, Ethereal and the others have responded mighty quickly from what I've seen. BUT don't come on here crying that there should have been another beta stage just to iron out your own niggling little problem. Like I said for the majority of us it works fine and is a fine release. If we all want a version that works for everybody we'll just have to wait for DCS:A10 on xbox/ps3. 1
leafer Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I'll give u first impression. Because I was at work and wanted to get a head start, I had tried talking a woman through downloading torrent file which it went terribly wrong, and I ended up sleeping on the other side of the door to my bedroom. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
ronht Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) OK - The final release is FAN-FRIGGEN-TASTIC but.......... I miss the Blue Screen of Death, I used to get every 5 mins or so in Falcon 4 - I mean, when am I ever going to get a break from A-10 to go to the kitchen and get something to eat? Also, my dog doesn't even know I have new software installed, he's used to me trying to kick him out of frustration with first release simulations, but instead he's lying here asleep like this is a game with post-release patch # 4 or #5 installed. What do you expect me to do with the hours I don't have to spend trying to get this software to run? Do you have any idea of the To-Do List my wife has waiting for me? And PLLLLEASE........ don't expect me to have to read anything, I want this to work the way I want it to work! Who cares about realism, I only want to be able to tell people who don't know anything about it how real it is! ED this has GOT to STOP - first Black Shark and now A-10 both released in the most stable form of any previous flight simulation with few if any problems. Not only have you set the bar for flight simulations WAY too high for anyone to follow, you have diminished my self importance of spending countless hours fighting with my computer to get a few mins of stable game run. What's next, releasing this on Apple? Please for the love of us PC geeks that have nothing better to do with our lives - have a little mercy with your next non-buggy release. :D OK - the above was written in humor, my hat's off to ED for producing what is by far some of the greatest simulation software on the face of the planet. Thank you! Edited February 24, 2011 by ronht

Mik75 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I just come back from a first test flight of the final release version, and I am totally amazed: It looks better, performs better and feels better!!! The new light effects (clouds draw shadows on the scenery, the improved HDR effect, the clearer and sharper look etc.) and the reworked flight model are outstanding. I already liked this sim, now I LOVE IT! I will definitely buy the TM HOTAS Warthog in the nearer future to make the immersion perfect! Thank you so much ED and TFC, that is very solid work! Python Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) Ok, i gave in and brought the download version rather than wait for a nice physical box, currently uploading by torrent at 40-50 Kb/s so about 1hrs download time if it sticks at that. Out of interest does DCS favour Intel or Amd, and Nvidia or ATI? I have an AMD Phennom 2 quad core at 3.0 and an Ati 4870 which has never performed as id like in FSX but runs pretty much anything els (including crysis at high settings) Im hoping il have good performence with DCS: A-10? can't afford a new PC with a bells and whistles I7 at the min.... leafer Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) mooshim, Huh, you've been to this side of earth? I thought flight simmers don't get out much. :D Yeap. not only is the Internet slow but it only works every two or three days. Do away with blood sucking locals and taxi drivers Samui is all right. If you want powder-like sand, prestine beaches and crystel clear water all year round you've gotta go on the other side, Andaman side, of Thailand and further south. Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi, etc. And if you're a diver then Similan islands are heaven on earth. Whale sharks go there in May to feed and poop. :D I work at W Retreat if any of you ever come to Samui; I can get you special rate and some brown girls. :D Sobek, I was refering to the behavior of most IT guys that go tattletaled to your boos if you've installed programs and downloaded anything from work computer. I just thought maybe there are ways to do these things without being caught. Edited February 24, 2011 by leafer 1 ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

hassata Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) I noticed some rust on the plate. Had to disassemble, sand it down, and apply primer. It's taking a long time to dry, but I should be able to get some time in later tonight, see what all the fuss is about :). Edit: Finally got some stick time. What can I say that hasn't been said. Awesome, polished close to perfection. Thank you ED. For me, Flight of the Intruder, Falcon 3.0, Falcon 4 all hinted at what might come, and this is finally it.
