on the subject of TF2 I think the Gau-8 might be just a little bit big for the heavy hehe.

"It cost $400,000 dollars to fly this A-10c for 12 seconds" hehe that might work though

It takes time for Steam to create the sales page and set up the file transfers. I would not expect to see it for sale there until early April.

*bump* :D

... just checking if there's any further word on this.

Now that is just cool. :)

You gotta stick this on the front of it....

Why / how is that gun chromed? It's not... you can't... what?

EDIT: I guess it's just a chrome disc they stuck on the front... that would make sense :p

I wish I could transfer my license to Steam.... I hate Starforce. I've reinstalled my system many times over the last six months, and I've lost all of my activations because who could honestly remember to deactivate all of the games that have this kind of silly DRM?

Posted

Well, steam is a kind of DRM too, so it's not like they removed it totally. I have no idea what 1C was trying to do with that other DRM - maybe because steam games are cracked at release nowdays? Still, it was a waste of time. Serious sim users buy their software almost 100% of the time (I'm guessing, but I think it's a good one)

I'm guessing also, but probably 'serious sim users' are only a smallish portion of the actual sales of 'serious sims', and insufficient to sustain the quality of products 'serious sim users' demand for their $60.

Actually, some self-described "serious sim users" don't pay if they can get away from it. Trust me on that. The above post indicating that "serious sim users" aren't the sole customers of ED products is, however, quite correct also. Remember Game mode - it's there for a reason, even if the hardcore crowd on the forum try to pretend that it isn't.

And that's as far as this DRM derail will come.

Well, I have no valid source but hear the Steam release date is scheduled to be April 22nd.

Could someone from Eagle please confirm/deny this?

Is there a section in the manual for game mode yet? For the people out there interested in it, i'd imagine it is quite aggravating to not know how to simply fire off a maverick.

I'm hanging on every post about a Steam launch too.

Really hope it's the 22nd or before but I'm not pinning too much hope on it as there have been no official comment that I can find apart from the 'about a month after' the full game was released.

I assume it'll probably just appear as there is nothing in the 'coming soon' section of steam.

Oh well, back to Portal 2 and waiting.

Kenan: if you can't connect to the server you can put steam in offline mode. Obviously can't get updates, can't play multiplayer, but games still work. There are a handful of games that absolutely require internet access to play (I'm thinking ubisoft...) but that's separate copy protection from what steam uses.

Still, in this case everyone wins. Don't like steam? Buy it from ED. Like steam? Buy it from steam.

Edit: I also wanted to say GREAT pics on the steam store for the A-10C! I don't know who picked out what screenshots to show for Black Shark, but it's always irked me that there isn't a good picture of the cockpit on the Black Shark steam page. There's one pic where you can see a few instruments through the NVG's but that's it. These A10 pics really do a better job of showing the sim off I think, but just my humble opinion.
