Bahger Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I've uninstalled the Beta build but I'll keep the components in my iTorrent queue if there is any demand or if I can help anyone out by being able to seed. Otherwise it's about 8.25GB of HD I could free up so let me know what you think.
WynnTTr Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Only if you miss having fps stutters while firing.. and other 'quirks'. I guess also for sentimentality's sake?
rexehuk Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I am holding on to BETA 4... mainly due to 4-5 of us having MP crashes tonight compared to 0 with beta 4. We had a solid game after that... but still the crashes blew our confidence a little.
Scooternutz Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) Do you mean Beta 4 or this current Release Candidate Beta? I am keeping Beta 4 for sure after flying tonight. My confidence is blown a little as well. Hoping for a hotfix soon. I dig the added FPS though. Hopefully ED will listen to the bugs and remedy soon. It is definitely flyable and the CBUs work now but there other things that are not. SPI is messed up now. No custom loadouts either. THE GUN IS AWESOME NOW. Love the sound. StrongHarm Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 This product is solid. In MP we had 9 people in a single server with no issues all day, whereas with B4, 5 people would bring it to it's knees or crash it. Don't be so apathetic. Would you take a girl home to dad and tell him you're pretty sure she was a stripper once.. just because she's naughty? ED is naughty.. but you keep your stripper talk to yourselves! Respect. 1 It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

Never saw "release candidate beta" mentioned anywhere. This release is a full retail release. nothing beta about it according to ED. I agree with you it has more bugs and problems than a beta and cannot wait for some patches and hotfixes. Aylward Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Not sure why this was rushed out and called a final release instead of just another beta release, since they seemingly knew going in by admissions from the testers that it was still broken in some places, but I'm sure there was some kind of business thing behind the scenes that drove that. What it was really isnt important.. it's out now. Regardless, I'm simply hopeful they come out with some kind of autoupdater soon which will make the need for patches to as yet found or unfound bugs much less of a hassle for anyone. I'd heard they were discussing it during the beta cycles, but never saw anything come of that. It would fit real nicely with this situation now, that's for sure.. for ED and the community. If they make that a priority first, then rolling out patches becomes much less stressful all the way around.. IMHO. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] please... please... please... let the next DCS module be an F-18 fighter aircraft :worthy:
Druid_ Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I can't understand the rush to release either. I did predict that this would happen though buts thats just the commercial pessimist in me. Obviously another couple of beta's and a complete working version didn't make business sense. Given the choice between removing features or a feature rich slightly bugged version which will hopefully be fixed in the future, I guess I choose the latter. I don't see future bug fixes occuring at the same rate though. i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q
sobek Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Regardless, I'm simply hopeful they come out with some kind of autoupdater soon Won't happen, because it would keep the tester staff from testing currently required stuff just to make sure the current release has no slips. The open beta phase is over. Maybe there will be something of the likes again when closer to the patch release, but i'm speculating here. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! NoJoe Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I can't understand the rush to release either. And this time last week there were people darn near begging for a release as soon as possible. I doubt that had any impact on the release time frame, but still. Can't please everyone. Just sayin' :P Software like this always has bugs. And as Nate said, this wasn't caught in time to be fixed for the release. It'll get fixed. Besides, I'm really enjoying what we have now. --NoJoe
mudpuppy Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I have to hang on to Beta 4 if I want to fly the sim, have tried to download the release and something like 8 months,3 weeks, 4 days, 18 hours, 53 minutes, and some odd seconds to download! LOL!! Am going to wait and let the smoke clear before I download I guess. I have no problems with Beta 4 and will keep it even when I do get to download the current release. wtfisgoingon Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 If you just use a torrent. You'll have it nearly as fast as your connection will allow. I just can't wrap my head around anyone not using torrents when http is so insanely slowly especially when overloaded. I suppose if you don't mind waiting days thats ok. I kinda wanted to play it within 2 hours, as from the look of the seeders/leechers on the torrent, many people did. :) i7-920 @3.8Ghz / MSI X58m / 8GB DDR3 / 2 x HD5770 / Asus-vw226h @1920x1200 / 2x OCZ Vertex 2 80GB SSD's / Win 7-64 / TrackIR 5 / Saitek x52 / Razer BlackWidow Mech Keyboard / Razer Deathadder Stuttering or fps problems? Speed Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I'm considering reinstalling beta 4. You can't have multiplayer without SPI sharing. If it's going to take a month to get the first patch, then I certainly will revert back to beta 4. The question is if dual installs are possible? DTWD Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 The current game is not an RC, I saw it mentioned and asked the question. This is the release, obviosly there will probably be patches, but this is the "finished" product. Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

My favourite sport ATM:thumbup: He means that, as I discovered last night, the rearming ground crew options are fixed now- one probably has to edit a lua file to change them. Previously, one could just make a mission, set up a load out, and the loadout you created and named and saved would be a rearming option when you talked to ground crew.
