One thing I would just like to add about the debate over clickable cockpits. I would love to have them as many others, but I think we should all look at the cost benefit of this. IMHO I don't think they are worth the time and effort if it is going to be at the expense of more flyables. What I mean is, I'd rather have F-16, F-18, Mirage 2000 a long with the current fleet rather than get clickable cockpits. For example I think everything should be brought up to the current level SU25T and have all the new flyables at least be at that level - rather than getting a new flyable with a clickable cockpit and the others remain without clickable cockpits. Also, just how much time ED going to have to put into designing clickable cockpits and what is that going to do to delay more flyables? I could be wrong, but I think most of us want more flyables rather than clickable cockpits. Sure, the best thing would be clickable cockpits for everything plus more flyables but I just wonder if they have the resources available to do this for all the planes plus release new flyables in a time frame that will be reasonable and profitable. Just my two cents - I'm not against clickable cockpits, but I just don't want to see them at the expense of more flyables.

They have no choice but to use clickable pits because of the level of detail of the avionics. This is the next generation of flight sim, not lockon and I doubt it would be very difficult to implement a clickable pit.

How about a third-party Campaign generator?

You know, I think someone was trying to develop one a while back. Unfortunately, it kind of crashed and burned. There also appeared to be some pretty serious friction between the guy putting the thing together and the devs.

Your talking about Ross.....

He had actually developed a Dynamic Campaign for the Flanker Series and was working unofficially on the Storm Engine that was the abandoned D/C that was to be released with Lock on.........

As far as I know he's still working on this and also has Swing Kid involved here as well, isn't that right Swing Kid??????

You know that lot of our discussion here seems to be around Lock on.......

Personally my feelings are that Lock on is just a stepping stone for newer and better simulators produced and developed by ED.......

And of course the development of modern warfare is certainly changeing to ground force action rather then the Airwar campaigns......

It's obvious that ED is aware of this and I think you can see from a lot of their recent communication with us that this is the direction that they are travelling in, and this will give them a better chance of survival as more and more people begin to discover this forum and there awsome style of simulation......

And I'll even bet that the name of this Forum will allso change eventually (LOL) ....

The Zoom and Boom I guess will allways be there but I dought if this will be the main foucus in future.........

Yeah I think ED is probably planning on doing a DC for the Lockon Successor. Personally I think that they should aim at the cold war since as the technology around the late 80s early 90s is very close for both sides. The ground fighting in detail is a brilliant idea as well, I think a carrier group with Hornets, F-14s and A-6s would be cool. Maybe even go in the direction of Dangerous waters and allow people to control the ships. Well either way Falcon or Hornet it would rock.

Yep. ;)

Sorry to bring this thread up again, but this is AWESOME news!I've always dreamed Lock-On at Falcon 4 level avionics with clickable pits. Now you mention implementing AFM aswell!

That would be some kind of revolution in sim community. You Russians are the best sim makers :D

Swingkid is actually working on a campaign of his own. I don't know of ED's plans for a dynamic campaign in the future but Swingkid's work has already proven very useful in identifying several key issues to fix before a dynamic campaign can really work well in Lock on or any successor. If he gets enough of ED's attention you'll get a lot of important fixes for the simulator in addition to an interesting dynamic campaign. Check out this thread for things that might be and why they might not be: http://lockoncampaign.com:8811/board/index.php?a=topic&t=61

I think ED could do a lot for the SW2 campaign with relatively little effort and they'd get something substantial in return.

However it is possible to make AFM having correct numbers but then that's the big question: what do you prefer? realistic behaviors? or real numbers?(I.e: this radar has the same range than in real).

This is a false dichotomy. There is no reason you couldn't have both if that's what was really desired.

nowadays this is not possible.

you have to look at one thing in particular.

in addition many simmers prefer having real number with coherent FM whiel some prefere having the more slightly effect modelized.

Of course...idealy we could have both..well and then you could also have realistic graphics+realistic campains+avionics etc...this is the dream simulator.

Try explaining that to the guy you are asking to tell you the "real numbers." :)

The reason could be the absence of info. :D

BTW.

I like more elegant terms - "long period" and "short period" dynamics (in time domain) instead of "numbers vs dynamics".

In performance data sections usually described "long period" dynamics. I.e. "maximum sustaned rate of turn" chart is the good example of "long period" dynamics, but something like "Mx vs AoA" chart describes the "shord period" dynamics. Both are significant for proper modelling though. ;)

well after recently purchasing 1.1 i can safely say that it is more stable than 1.0, but it still crashes sometimes and id like to see some graphics engine improvements (optimization) in 1.2. this is what im truly waiting for and i could care less if it includes a helicopter add on.

also please make it cheaper... :(

I heard rumors that after 1.2 the lock-on-series will be end and a new sim will be developed. Are there any informations 'bout which kind this will be and which planes will be flyable? Maybe the community can help with new models ;)

Btw. I'm very impatiently to play high-level-flightsims and i hope, every new games from ED will be better than the last one ;)

It isn't a rumor, it's the plan :)

The new simulation will be more hardcore (like F4) and will feature clickable cockpits - it will feature the F-16, MiG-29K, and Mi-28 and Ithink Ah-64 helicopters, and also all the aircraft from LOMAC possibly with AFM.

It is also supposed to feature a DC.

Taking in consideration that they are planning a DC for the Lomac successor, are their any plans for the map? The reason I ask is that it seems to me that the "shape" of the finished area of the map is awkward. If they they use the current map it would be nice if they finished some of the areas such as the northeast corner (Russia). It also would be nice for more areas for Nato side to base from such as portions of Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, and even the bit of Ukraine north of the Crimean peninsula. LOL this is the whole map . . .

I don't know, but I would indeed hope for some expansion of the map ... it would rock.

Man, 15 pages, lol, Thanks for your all input. Verry much appreciated.

Bring on, the Ka50 Dev. I'll show what " Un Québecois peu faire " lol

I've been waiting for a long time for a "chopper sim". Integrating a ka50 with Lomac, made my world. Cheers to you all at Eagle Dynamic. Hope it comes out soon...

Hope that FC made your pockets profitable. If so, bring this chopper out. I want to ride it, so bad. :D

PS: Our Squad is pretty reputable. It would be a honor for us to test this bird out. I know, these posistions mostly is already taken. But we are still available if need be.

With respect, to other Squad's...

(dont want this thread to become a flame war with other Squad's in here)

Challenges would be considered through our website forum. http://www.169thpanthers.net "ONLY" not here.

Cheers,

I know your squadron, first you guys will doing with a Ka50, gunzo and heaters. lol heli-dogfighting rules, hope one day theres Apaches to fly with.

Meh I much rather see a true Dynamic campaign but seeing that no dev out there regards this as an important part of their software i guess i'll go witha bigger map.

Then again it's kind of worthless having a bigger map if you can't do anythign with it anyway. Meh put resources into a Dynamic campaign for the love of god :)
