Succellus Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Any good space sim, that accept separate USB controler (like warthog and rudders) still alive ? Old or new... We ve been running out f them probably a EVE side effect. HaF 922, Asus rampage extreme 3 gene, I7 950 with Noctua D14, MSI gtx 460 hawk, G skill 1600 8gb, 1.5 giga samsung HD. asparagin Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Black Prophecy just came out, it's a free MMO with spaceships. It's not a sim, and don't know if it works with your HOTAS, but since it's free you can try it yourself. I'm busy at the moment but I 'll try it also later on. Except X3 I don't know anything good.. 104th_Crunch Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 The one good thing about CH stuff is that you can make all your CH devices look like one controller. What controllers you have Succellus?
Pilotasso Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Long gone are the times of good space shooters. Last good one I had was freespace2 launched in 1998. Wing commander and X wing series before it. Kinda missed all the multiplayer action with this genre. I only got 56k connex in the year 2000, and they all had cooled off by then. All games launched in recent years failed to impress me. They all look cheesy and dont offer the sense of speed etc etc. wished for a comeback of the genre for a looooooong time! .
Succellus Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 I have a TM Warthog.., and yeah crunch TM sucked in not letting a port for rudders and integrate all, rudders are only axis after all, no secret there. Freespace was really good. Now it seems all about OMG we must take some EVE market, copy paste...rince and repeat and fail. No, i prefer an old good lome single player game a la Xwing, tie fighter... Gearge lucas suck for having closed lucasart and not realease franchise use of star wars. You can bet a SW X-wing tie fighter, with the old soul of episode 4/5/6 (not the cheezy 1,2,3) and todays GFX would sold like hot bread just out of the oven. Due to financial priorities i m not about to enter some paying MMO, and free MMO are all about investing money. WynnTTr Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 You tried the X3 series? It's like Elite but for our generation and like EVE only singleplayer. Good sense of movement in space and you're free to do whatever, shoot, trade, mine etc... If you check it out, play Terran Conflict it's more polished and intuitive than the original X3 but still complex.

I am trying to get into Terrain Conflict, but the lack of cockpits and control feel leaves something to be desired for me. I also wish there was Track IR support. Funny, today before reading this thread I thought how much I wished there was a X-Wing or Freespace remake with today's tech. Bummer.
Moa Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Crunch, have you looked at the open-source Vega Strike? Some nice mods for it too: http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/
BHawthorne Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Hrrrm, maybe "All Aspects of Warfare" or "Angle of Attack". Both have demos on Steam.
Succellus Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 (edited) I bought all the terran on steam 9.99. Its interessting, but the first ones lacks something. Trading is interesting but after a time it tires. Will look at terran conflict bypassing the firsts iterations. Ali Fish Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 (edited) one of the best spacesims ive endulged in. and indie game, free from the shackles of most games, supprisngly due to offering more than the majority of space sims combined. newtonian physics. planetary decents, space stations i played evochron legends for a time, did some modding for it too. very afordable and it has alot in common with elite. http://www.starwraith.com/main/go.htm Edited March 29, 2011 by Ali Fish [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Last upgrade february, seems its alive and kicking, support trackir, triple monitors (even if it doesn t seem that wide resolution, newtons fisics it seems, impressive for a space sim. I wonder if it support multiple USB controler, Lone Wolf style, very good because there s no monthly fee, with possibility for MP... Not many infos on it, but it seem interesting, more than what i see today on big companies that are focused on copy paste EVE with bright colors. Hay Ali Fish, what your impression on it, and why did you stop playing ? I'l ask one more, how are the graphics compared to X3 Terran Conflict. Thanks
Ali Fish Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) hello, missed alot of these posts, sorry, why did i stop playing it. That was probally because i should be working. lol. i was modding for it and well thats where alot of my interests lie with certain titles. asides that i seek better in a space sim that what it evochron is. but thats just me. i want a study style spacesim but with all the science fantasy too etc etc. untill that comes i probally wont dabble in spacesims anymore tbh. its an indie game, its not super hot graphically, but feature wise its rather sweet And its intentions are from the mind of one The developer. 1 guy. I have not played the latest incarnation. there is a demo im sure, i believe u get 20 min sessions last time i looked, just jump in and try it out, one of the developers attentions is how big an application he is delivering with emphasis upon it being as small as possible. much much much of this game is hardcoded which brings its drawbacks too imo. Succellus Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 LOLOLOL, i too have too many games to handle at one time (Shogun2, STAKER call of prypiat complete, A10c, Il2 mainly (mainly as if it was nothing!)). But i want a good space sim, where i can make "full" use of my warthog, actully X3 i have one throttle for thrust and the other for rudder, this is a bit sad for my saitek pedals. The fact is i want something not study so i can fly dumb without feeling too dumb (hawx and similars), and spacesims are exactly that. You don t feel guilty for simpliflyed flight model cause you dont know what "a lot of tomorrows" tech will be, even if when you look at them today and imagone the future most of your spaceship features/controls seem dumb. I have enought study with BS, A10C, IL2, RoF, i wan t to fly light. HaF 922, Asus rampage extreme 3 gene, I7 950 with Noctua D14, MSI gtx 460 hawk, G skill 1600 8gb, 1.5 giga samsung HD.
